  1. Yes! She deserved a medal so much! I'm really happy she got one here. 5 different medalists today, very interesting.
  2. Is the next race in men's windsurfing going to be the medal race? Aruba is in a bad position there, unfortunately.
  3. First gold medal ever for Colombia! And Puerto Rico came so close to get their first-ever medal. Bummer.
  4. Handball is a "woman's sport" in Brazil, so the fact that we have a somewhat decent men's team, even with this defeat, is reason enough to celebrate. Still, I suspected this team would not be able to beat Argentina in the final, but they lost even before that.
  5. Brazil took another bronze medal in rhythmic gymnastics, this time after an inquiry. Without the inquiry, Cuba would have outscored Brazil and taken the bronze medal instead. This is definitely not what I expected from this Brazilian group. Mistakes after mistakes, scores way below their potential...
  6. Same apparatus choice for this year: 5 balls / 2 pairs of clubs + 3 hoops.
  7. I used to hate it but now it sounds okay-ish. Not that bad once you're used to it. What I don't like, at all, is mixing religion and sport, and for this I hate the song choice. 5 ribbons is a disaster 70% of the time. Even some other apparatus + ribbon usually end up in disaster quite often.
  8. Poor Fainberg was robbed of a medal. Unbelievable.
  9. I thought she had retired. Nice to know she's still active (and hopefully she's looking to qualify for the Olympics). About rhythmics, I am worried about the group event. Cuba took fourth, which is surprising considering the Canadians have had more international exposure and probably much better coaches. I thought that after the mistake Brazil had, Canada would take bronze, but this was not the case. I hope this is just a period where girls are adjusting to harder routines. It would be fantastic to have Brazil, Mexico, Canada and the US on the same level at the World Championships plus Cuba hopefully doing well. But Mexico seems to be too dominant.
  10. And in some sports, even when they send their best athletes, they are beaten by other nations. Case in point: artistic gymnastics and diving. Both Canada and the US sent some of their best athletes and were beaten by Brazil both in gold and overall number of medals in artistic gymnastics (the US tied in overall medals with Brazil, actually) and, so far, by Mexico in diving (Mexico has more gold medals AND overall medals in diving than any other nation). Let's stop pretending the rest of the continent can't keep up and the competition is hopeless, please.
  11. Peru's goal is to earn at least 10 gold medals, right? Is this feasible?
  12. And the US has 46. My point when replying to @Olympian1010 is that Canada is much closer to Colombia, Argentina and Brazil than the US. Not even close to US by a mile.
  13. We haven't had much going on, to be honest. This is a huge problem with this edition, of course. The highlight of the event so far has been the gymnastics events. Canada sent the best of the best in every event, so no B teams here. And, quite honestly, except for the women's artistic team, I don't think Canada looks too hot. Men's artistic was okay considering no one expected anything from them, rhythmic has been a disaster so far and in men's trampoline your best gymnast didn't even qualify for a final. The second best event for Canada so far is diving, and also no B teams here. No wonder you are doing better than expected.
  14. Yes, I agree that if Canada cared more, they would make the battle for second place a lot more interesting, but never in a million years I would say that there would be no competition. Don't forget that in 2015 Canada had a huge boost as the host. I mean, just look at how Peru is performing here compared to how they perform at the other editions. Second: no one cares about overall medals. Only recently the US began to care about it because China beat them in gold medals at the Olympics. We all know that gold medals are what matters when it comes to the medal table, and I don't see Canada earning that many, either at the Summer Olympics or even at this edition of the Pan Ams.
  15. This is their third medal at this Games. Well done for them.
  16. This is a matter of opinion. I watched the women's artistic gymnastics all-around final with ESPN commentary and after Kara Eaker fell on beam and floor, the commentator basically said "oh, they are just training here, no worries". If they win, so everything is easy and the competition is boring, but if they lose the competition is not important and they are just training. Typical. Besides, Canada is not nearly as dominant as the US, even with their A teams. The same is true at the Olympics. Their recent performances at the Summer Olympics are on par with Brazil, Argentina and even Colombia. I mean, these countries are not so far away from Canada, and Canada is not even close to the US there.
  17. You haven't watched artistic gymnastics, have you?. Even though the US sent the best girls (except for Simone Biles) and dominated the team competition, the event finals were unpredictable and the US was not even close to a full sweep like we all expected before the Games. The men's competition was extremely surprising, with US not earning any gold medals. Even Brazil lost the most expected medal this edition, gold on rings with Zanetti. I understand that the Pan Ams might not be very exciting for people from Europe and Asia, but it's not like I feel excited about the Asian Games either (China doesn't send their best athletes either and still they are unbeatable). I don't see any point in your criticism. If India competed at the Pan Ams, I could bet all my money they would be trailing off behind Argentina at this point, so why complain about the quality of the event?
  18. So, Jason Burnett, the favorite for the gold medal, didn't qualify for the final. Crazy.
  19. I ignore posts from bestmen and OlympicsFan, so I almost forgot how fun it is to read troll posts sometimes.
  20. The link actually leads to the results page. This link leads to the entry list in each event: https://wrsd.lima2019.pe/PAG2019/en/results/swimming/sport-entries.htm
  21. Yes. I don't get how the scoring system works. I know the judges are free to score the dives, but some attempts were absolutely terrible and still got 7 and 8 marks. How is this possible? I've tried to enjoy diving all my life, but the Pan Ams always show how insane this sport is in terms of scoring. I'll stick with gymnastics.
  22. Nice work, Mexico! Congratulations! Cuba for the first time ever didn't earn a medal in the group all-around event, so Brazil remains now the only nation to win a medal in this event in every edition of the Pan Am Games.
  23. There is an extra hoop inside the area. The judges will count 6 apparatus inside the area. I believe we will not even win a medal now.
