  1. Dragulescu always screws up badly in his second vault. After a nearly perfect first vault, he had to do it again here. Argh!
  2. There is a near imperceptible moment when Lodadio's forearms are used for him to keep balance in a handstand. This deducts 0.3 from his final score. It's one of those things that casual fans don't see, but judges are very careful when judging. It was a fair result, though Çolak also had some errors, of course. Last year we had a much better final when it comes to the execution of skills, but this year was a lot more unpredictable. Great final, still.
  3. It depends on who scored the highest individual scores in each stage. Scores for rings now are consistently lower than previous years, so Petrounias is at a huge disadvantage here.
  4. No Olympics (for now) for Petrounias! EDIT: He needs 90 points at the World Cup series to qualify for the Olympics. He has zero at the moment. China's Yang needs to win only one stage to qualify. Petrounias will likely not be at the 2020 Olympics!
  5. No Olympics for Tovmasyan. Now only Samir can kick Petrounias of Olympic qualification, at least for now.
  6. Çolak was better, in my opinion. But it was so close.
  7. First medal ever for Turkey also, probably gold! What a day!
  8. I'm not bestmen. LOL. But judges are biased towards the Americans. There's no way Carey deserved a silver medal.
  9. First ever medal for Ireland! Amazing result! Congratulations!
  10. And Downie was robbed of a silver medal. It's like the Americans have a completely different Code of Points only for them where they are deducted only half of what should have been.
  11. Noooo, No medal for Seo-Jeong. Argh! I'm devastated.
  12. YESSS! Yulo will be world champion!!!!
  13. Oh, no. Dolgopyot is first on floor. Come on, Dalolyan. You have to win this!
  14. Mexican gymnasts Elsa Garcia and Ana Lago reported that they suffered physical abuse from their French coaches. Poor girls.
  15. Massive respect for Nagornyy! What he achieved today is almost unbelievable. Mikulak jumped from 27th to 7th. What a comeback! And how awesome it is to have a Filipino as one of the top 10 all-arounders in the world? Fantastic!
  16. She was injured on vault. Exactly the same thing that happened to Jade Barbosa. Kara Eaker will replace Ellie Black on beam. The final will be a lot more unpredictable now. We have 5 gymnasts who are able to score over 14, some of them over 14.5. I hope we FINALLY have a good beam final. Since 2014 all beam finals have been terrible. 2015 and especially 2017 are some of the worst ever in the history of this sport.
  17. It would be insane not to show Yulo. As I mentioned, he is expected to win gold medals in the all-around, floor, maybe vault and team. He can also win a medal on parallel bars. High bar, pommels and rings, in theory, are his weakest events, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a medal in these events too.
  18. Will artistic and rhythmic gymnastics events be broadcast live? I hope so because Carlos Yulo could realistically win a medal in all of the events. Also, it's always nice to watch Rifda Irfanaluthfi and Farah Abdul. I'm also hopeful for some action in rhythmic gymnastics, especially the Malaysian individual gymnasts and the Malaysian and Thai groups (speaking of which, the Thai group won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Cup last year; level was somewhat low, but still nice for them to win a continental medal).
  19. As I predicted, Melnikova won a medal with unrealistic scores, but I'm okay with a medal for her instead of Nina and Black, who were also extremely overscored. I'm worried about Black missing out beam finals now. I hope she's okay. I know I'm very, very salty today, but Derwael just cannot be scored like that. It's insane, it's unfair to the other gymnasts. And Biles is as artistic as a cauliflower. That's me being salty and mean. Yeah.
  20. Melnikova incredibly overscored on beam. Russians are being very favored here. Still, I'm okay with Melnikova winning a medal instead of Derwael. Besides bars, there's nothing else nice to say about Derwael. She is not an all-arounder who should be so close to a medal. This is absurd!
  21. Black 14.000 on beam. Ugh. Just... nope. Moors 13.566 on floor. Why? She deserves more! It's unacceptable that she scores so low while Nina Derwael, of all people, qualified to the finals (instead of Moors). I'm done watching. I'll rant forever if I keep watching this awful display of bad gymnastics getting high scores, and good gymnastics being underscored.
  22. Cintia Rodriguez presented a floor routine with a difficulty score of 4.4. Not even junior gymnasts are expected to go this low. How did she even qualify for the all-around final?
