  1. I disagree. I think women in general are less interested in sports than men. Totallympics too for example has way more male users than female users, and that's not because Sindo awards fewer account quotas to women (well, I hope not ). It's just a fact of life imo. There are way more men doing sports than women, and that's not because women are giving up because they have (slightly) fewer Olympic quotas on offer than men. Well, that's at least the case in liberal countries...
  2. But that's the point, B nations will miss out on qualifications so more and more nations will only enter alpine/cross-country skiing.
  3. So apparently alpine combined is not out? So much for @heywoodu's statement about Gisin being Olympic champion for all times. I'm quite happy that they didn't go for that parallel/city/boring event and whatnot.
  4. They definitely can, if it means reducing fields in competitive sports.
  5. Gender equality strikes again. Women's basketball, handball and volleyball finals will be played on the final day. I guess it's a miracle that they didn't mess with the men's marathon...
  6. It becomes a liability to have so many players involved when the other sports need to have their quotas reduced. Football has 11 players on the pitch, and it is working perfectly well with 18 team members at the Olympic tournaments. Hockey meanwhile somehow has 23 despite only 6 being on ice at one time...
  7. All these removed quotas just to add two super weak female hockey teams. Come on! Plus, no way hockey needs 20+ players per team...
  8. I would imagine that big nations would no longer have max 6 athletes, but that's just a guess.
  9. Wow, they even added 2 mixed doubles in curling. As if that's going to make any difference.
  10. "We can only show this class outside of Deutschland."
  11. Since Japan is the host, battle for the Olympic spot should be fairly straightforward.
  12. Isn't referee usually working for the Italian girls?
  13. Well, there was a time when they weren't losing by 25 goals. Not even close.
  14. I see there are some very bright commentators on Olympic channel. "Russian is basically the second best in the World, since no silver was awarded." Backstory: Two Chinese shared the gold while a Russian swimmer took bronze.
  15. Please, not another Voeckler.
  16. Well, that's an odd statement for a sportsperson.
  17. Feeling that she was terrible? Terrible cyclist, person, what?
  18. Honestly, she has been having the highest approval ratings of any politician here for a long time, ever since she got elected. And I can see why, as she seems to generally care for the office. Sometimes even trying too hard.
  19. And finally, only 5:30 hours after leaving the plane they are here.
  20. Germany lost 14:1. So it's safe to say their men's team is dropping even more than the women's team.
  21. Apparently there are so many people on the streets that the team bus has already been travelling for more than 4 hours from the airport to the city centre (usually a 30-minute journey).
