  1. as a male he was a below average weightlifter, even in Oceania standards which is nowhere near the world level and now as a female she is a medal contender at the age of 43 I think if she was 25 she would be a gold medal favorite . I'm no doctor and I have absolutely no idea about her body before and now but comparing his results with her results clearly says she has an unfair advantage over the rest. yes I agree banning her would be a bit unfair but letting her compete will be more unfair to the rest of the field. Caster Semenya has 100 times more rights than her to compete.
  2. in short because he is crazy he is completely unpredictable and fun to watch. he sometimes misses something and then ask for 10kg heavier and manages to lift that.
  3. you are welcome I know most people have a wrong idea about Iran, and I don't blame them, things are too much complicated here for anybody to understand (even for people here sometimes) when I answer a question I try to give an honest answer, (that's hard sometimes when you are biased but I try) I read news websites from both sides and it's like reading about two completely different countries lol. right now both sides are celebrating. regime supporters are happy because their candidate won and they say "see we had 50% turnout" (they nicely ignore 14% void ballots which clearly had a message) and the so called opposition also says "yyyaaayyyy more than 50% boycotted the election". (and that's it all they have no other plan) I don't know who really won yesterday but I know the people of Iran lost. it was a lose lose situation after all. there are some people inside the regime that prefer to create another North Korea, (which is easier to rule) and I believe Raeisi is one of them. that's why I was very concerned about him. but the inevitable happened. the only thing that gives me hope that things are unpredictable in Iran. maybe something good comes out of this so called election after all. at least from now on they can't blame anybody else for their failure.
  4. the president doesn't call the shots here in those matters, that's still up to Khameneyi and nothing will change. yes the president matters but not "that much". and the nuclear program is the only bargaining chip they have. they are not going to give that up easily. PS: as much as I hate these guys which is very clear from what I wrote. I partially support some of their foreign policies. that's what I learned in past 4 years. I'm not religious myself, not at all. but you are very wrong. I'm not going to write more about this because there are good and bad people everywhere, in each country, in each religion.
  5. any medal in any other sport beside our big 3. specially by female athletes. I'm afraid we don't have much chance this time, Abedini in fencing was one touch away from the final. lost the semifinal 15-14 probably the biggest Olympic disappointment for me.
  6. not as simple as that. things are more complicated than that in Iran. Khameneyi has the ultimate power obviously but he doesn't necessarily use it every time. because he always wants to wash his hands from possible disasters. all 4 presidents during his era are now "bad guys". it was always their fault, not him ! if Khameneyi dies today there is nobody to replace him. absolutely not. but it's clear that in past 3 years they are trying to image Raeisi as some kind of superman who solves everything. to me this is a clear sign of what's next for him. of course politics in Iran is unpredictable. who knows what will happen when Khameneyi dies . but I believe that's the plan. he lost an election. you can't be the supreme leader when you are a loser, you are supposed to look "popular". he had to win an election to be ready for that position (in case). the guardian council (directly appointed by Khameneyi) disqualified everybody to make sure he wins. if you check the official results. the number of "void" votes beat the other candidates and finished 2nd ! internationally I don't think that changes much. at least not at the moment. they are not going to start a war because they want Raeisi to improve the economy. ( or at least let people think he did) from now on the world will hear just one voice from Iran. the ultraconservative voice. but most of these guys are highly uneducated. I read from western diplomats how much they were pissed off when they had to talk with someone like Jalili. there won't be someone smart like Zarif around to solve the problems. domestically. maybe it helps the economy. (just maybe I'm not sure) they didn't want Rouhani to succeed, they created lots of problems for him. that won't happen when one of their guy is in office. but it will be disastrous for people's freedom or things like that. I'm 100% sure we will have more internet restrictions. they are going to monitor people much more. more restrictions for women, I won't be surprised if they completely cut off Iranian people from the global internet. (probably not from the start, but they are going to that direction slowly, or at least they are thinking about it)
  7. I know most politicians around the world are corrupt and most of them have blood on their hands (either people in their own country or in other countries) but this is a different case. and I'm not that kind of person to get stuck in the past. it's about the future. I know how people like him think and act. they are dangerous for humankind. it's just hard to explain these things to non-Iranians because most people have a completely different and wrong image about Iran. as I said the president doesn't have the ultimate power here but still plays a big role "at least in local matters". I lived under 4 different presidents. I know the difference. guys like him can easily lead us to a war. I promised to myself to never vote after what happened in 2009. but had to break my own promise in 2017 because I was afraid of this guy 4 years ago but I guess he was inevitable. we just postponed the disaster.
  8. after the semifinal round today, top 8 teams in Asia are set to play for the Olympic spot in both genders Men Women
  9. hmm,. that's a long story, are you sure you want me to bore you with the details? the 1979 revolution (or as we call it 1357 revolution) happened with the work of so many groups. including marxists, communists, liberals etc. but they all trusted Khomeini to put him in power. probably thinking he is a stupid old man and won't do much. but he outsmarted everybody and seized the power. some of those groups started terrorist attacks. they killed so many high rank officials. including president, prime minister etc. some of them even joined Saddam Hussein's army during Iran-Iraq war. lots of them got killed during an operation when they penetrated the Iranian border but when Khomeini received the news he ordered these judges to "review" the case of everybody from these groups. I'm talking about prisoners. people who were in jail long before the war, who had nothing to do with the recent events. they were in jail because of minor crimes. just being a member of these groups (without doing anything specific) some of them were about to get released. but in the "new trial" which took only 2 or 3 minutes for each person. Mr Raeisi and his friends sanctioned most of them to death. according to survivors the whole trial was about 3 or 4 quick questions (just to know if they still support those groups or not) and those prisoners didn't even know this is a new trial and one wrong answer means death penalty
  10. I believe it will be added to the individual competition. (on Monday)
  11. yes we do, specially in the first day, fencing too. but I'm experienced enough to not "count" on those sports if they win a medal that will be fantastic but I mostly count on our traditional sports (+ Karate this time)
  12. as far as I remember (I mean since 1992) Iran never won a medal in the first week of the Games, (or to be accurate the first 6 days) let alone in the first day this is always the same scenario. we have limited athletes in the first week and they fail to win a medal. people start to say "oh we suck this Olympics" or oh look country A or B (mostly small or poor countries) have a medal but we don't . even in 2012 which was the best Olympic ever for Iran, the first medal came after 7 days or something like that. but this year the schedule is a bit different. we will have someone in Taekwondo in the first day. and another one in the 2nd day. so I believe we have a good chance to win something in first two days. but if not, we have to wait 10 more days until the start of wrestling competition
  13. Ebrahim Raeisi, who was directly involved in mass execution of prisoners something like 30 years ago. he was one of the 4 judges who singed these "death sentences" after short trials. very short actually. took only few minutes. he is a very dumb person actually, they knew he can't beat anybody, so they set everything for him to win a one horse race. President is #2 person here, not the one who has the ultimate power. but apparently the long term plan is to prepare him for that position.
  14. speaking of taking steps back, my country jumped a huge step (that was more like a triple jump) back yesterday. The Angel of Death himself won the "so called" election yesterday and will be the next president for the next 4 years (and most probably 8 years and maybe stay in power forever) and who knows if there will be another presidential election. this might be the last one. despite everything and all helps he had, his number is almost the same as 4 years ago (when he lost handily to the current president) but he won this time because 1) there was nobody serious to challenge him, they disqualified everybody notable to make sure he wins, 2) lots of people (including everybody I know) decided to boycott the election. 48% is the lowest turnout in history here.
  15. I don't think so I believe their policy (stupid policy if you ask me) is something about finishing in top 16 of the World Championships or Olympics. they don't reject quotas in events with low number of athletes (16 or less than that) last time they didn't reject a quota in wrestling which was won by doing nothing , their guy lost the only match he had to win but later the Australian wrestler got caught for doping. (the NZ wrestler got injured and didn't participate in Rio eventually though)
  16. no that was something else Asian unused quota was supposed to go to the next best ranked weightlifter. but there will be 3 unused host quotas. we still don't know which weights are going to receive them. (that will depend on 4 wild cards) but if one of them comes to this weight, Ireland is #1 priority to get that. unused host quotas are supposed to go to the next best weightlifter from NOCs "not represented yet"
  18. alongside HUN at +109kg, ALB also took the Asian unused quota at 81kg. and women's +87kg unsed quota also went to Austria. and it seems Ukraine rejected 109kg quota which went to Lithuania. also after removing Romania. Toma's quota went to Germany.
  20. Iran's delegation in Tokyo so far, only confirmed athletes are listed here. Iranian sources usually count the reserve guy in Fencing into the list. this is 63 so far. 2 or 3 will be added later. which makes this the biggest delegation for Iran after 1976 (2nd biggest delegation ever) but have to say that's mostly because of Basketball's surprising qualification. I think the whole qualification process wasn't good for Iran. some of our "medal contenders" failed to qualify in wrestling, taekwondo, weightlifting and of course Karate. also we have to leave our best boxer at home. and there will be only one former Olympic medalist in this delegation. from our 8 medalists in 2016, both of our Olympic Champions in weightlifting (Moradi and Rostami) failed to qualify thanks to IWF's stupid qualification system. Kimia Alizadeh cheated her way into the refugee team, 3 of our wrestlers are retired, and another one didn't get selected. that leaves Hassan Yazdani as the only 2016 medalist ! oops, I forgot that Haddadi is a 2012 Olympic silver medalist. so we have 2 Olympic medalists here. Archery (1) Men's Individual: Milad Vaziri Athletics (2) Men's 100m: Hassan Taftian Men's Discus Throw: Ehsan Haddadi Basketball (12) Men's Team: TBD Boxing (2) Men's 57kg: Danial Shahbakhsh Men's 75kg: Shahin Mousavi Canoeing Sprint (1) Men's K-1 1000m: Ali Aghamirzaei Cycling Road (1) Men's Road Race and Individual Time Trial: Saeid Safarzadeh Fencing (3+1) Men's Individual Sabre: Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari Men's Team Sabre: Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari, Mohammad Fotouhi Karate (4) Men's Kumite 75kg: Bahman Askari Men's Kumite +75kg: Sajjad Ganjzadeh Women's Kumite 55kg: Sara Bahmanyar Women's Kumite +61kg: Hamideh Abbasali Rowing (1) Women's Single Sculls: Nazanin Malaei Shooting (6) Men's Pistol events: TBD Men's Rifle events: TBD Women's Pistol events: TBD Women's Rifle events: TBD Table Tennis (1) Men's Singles: Nima Alamian Taekwondo (3) Men's 58kg: Armin Hadipour Men's 68kg: Mirhashem Hosseini Women's 57kg: Nahid Kiani Volleyball (12) Men's Team: TBD Weightlifting (2) Men's 109kg: Ali Hashemi Men's +109kg: Ali Davoudi Wrestling (11) Men's Freestyle 57kg: Reza Atri Men's Freestyle 65kg: Morteza Ghiasi Men's Freestyle 74kg: Mostafa Hosseinkhani Men's Freestyle 86kg: Hassan Yazdani Men's Freestyle 97kg: Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian Men's Freestyle 120kg: Amir Hossein Zare Men's Greco-Roman 60kg: Alireza Nejati Men's Greco-Roman 67kg: Mohammad Reza Geraei Men's Greco-Roman 77kg: Mohammad Ali Geraei Men's Greco-Roman 97kg: Mohammad Hadi Saravi Men's Greco-Roman 130kg: Amin Mirzazadeh
  21. today was the penultimate day of the 2021 Asian Taekwondo Championships and Afghanistan won the gold medal in men's 58kg by "Mohsen Rezaee" I believe this is their first ever continental gold medal in an Olympic sport. the guy had a walkover in the semifinal but still he beat South Korea in the final which is huge. he was supposed to participate at the Asian OQT but he couldn't because of that COVID problem the whole Afghan team was facing. unfortunately for Mr Rezaei, Japan picked this weight to use its host quota, so no Tripartite invitation quota is available for him. if someone deserves some kind of special Wild Card, that's him not those cheaters in the so called "refugee team".
  22. no, the only requirement is about just participating in one major event during the qualification period.
  23. 3 female hosts quotas are allocated now https://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2021/06/Tokyo-2020_Absolute-Ranking-Lists_16062021.pdf Hiromi Miyake (49kg), Kanae Yagi (55kg) and Mikiko Andoh (59kg) so there will be 4 wild cards available in 64, 76, 87 and +87
  24. wrong information! we will have "special ranking" for Asian teams soon. while FIFA won't publish a new ranking soon but they will count these recent results for this "special ranking" some people made the calculation and the new seeding will be something like this. Pot 1: Pot 2: Pot 3: Pot 4: Pot 5: Pot 6: the only change is UAE replacing Iraq in pot 3. now I will surely want and in our group. it will be a nightmare having both Iraq and KSA.
