  1. I wish they would announce it earlier, that would change few things for our NT. some of our veterans wanted to retire from the NT after the Asian Cup, I don't think they stick around for another year, so Tokyo will be their last competition. but 2022 will be crazy, 2023 World Cup qualifiers, this event and the 2022 Asian Games. btw what's the chance of Asian Games not being cancelled/postponed ? is China determined to have that competition or it's more likely to get cancelled ? (which will be very sad)
  2. We will have 19 athletes + 6 officials in the opening ceremony the entire basketball team + 2 shooters + 2 taekwondo + 2 boxers + 1 rower the rest of our delegation either are not in Tokyo or will have their competitions on Saturday.
  3. ظاهرا خود شبکه ورزش نشون داده یه لینکی هم تو پیام خصوصی میفرستم اونم ظاهرا بد نیست
  4. FIBA postponed the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup to July 2022 http://www.fiba.basketball/news/fiba-asia-events-calendar-update terrible news for Iran, for our team that was the main tournament, not the Olympics (sounds crazy but yeah we knew we are going to lose to everybody in Tokyo) @Griff88 I assume that was a request from Indonesia, right ? because the same FIBA didn't postpone the FIBA women's Asian Cup
  5. Egypt used to have an OK team, I wonder why they gave up trying in this sport. @thepharoah is there any specific reason for that ?
  6. Iran's roster in Tokyo, US and France should be careful https://www.instagram.com/p/CRoql8QHNa-/ btw even being here was a miracle, thanks to Poland and Nigeria and also Venezuela some of our veterans deserved another Olympics for their last NT competition, so it was some kind of gift from nowhere for them there are 3 athletes in our whole delegation who didn't born in Iran, all of them in our basketball team. (they have Iranian fathers though) none of them are important or key players but having them in the final squad just shows our current situation. we couldn't find better players inside the country
  7. I don't know how someone can be against science (vaccination in this case) in 21st century according to our NOC president, nobody in our delegation even had to think twice about getting the vaccine. but what worries me is that some of them didn't really follow the COVID protocols in past couple of weeks. (probably stupidly thinking they are 100% safe with the vaccine) no problem so far but it's always possible to have the next positive case in our delegation
  8. because only 1 country was interested in those two continents.
  9. The draw is done apparently. news websites here already announced first round opponents for our boxers.
  10. I hope so for so many reasons. nothing really personally against Alizadeh but she cheated her way into the Games (like most of EOR team members) and I always want cheaters to lose. I really hope Kiani can handle the pressure which is huge. there are/were lots of media hype about this match here. lots of talk about the battle of "Nahid and Kimia". they were team mates for a long time but never been in the same weight. Alizadeh has to cut a lot while Kiani is even small for this weight. Kimia's childhood coach (who also coached her in Rio and almost her entire life before leaving Iran) is now coaching Kiani. another story for this match.
  11. Thanks that's a bit weird though. I'm watching fencing for a while. (more than 20 years actually) still there are lots of things I don't know about this sport
  12. you can find all of them here https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/olympic-games/en/results/taekwondo/reports.htm
  13. and it seems whoever loses in these extra matches will be out no matter what, even if the winner goes all the way to the final there is no repechage for "qualification" losers
  14. Taekwondo brackets are available on the official website. not much change from predicted brackets as far as I can see IOC/WT made sure that Kiani vs Alizadeh happens by having a last minute replacement. this match was too "good" to let it "not happen"
  15. Official start list https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/olympic-games/resOG2020-/pdf/OG2020-/WLF/OG2020-_WLF_C51_WLFW49KG--------------FNL-A00100--.pdf
  16. anyway to watch it online ?
  17. I thought the individual event will follow the same format and they just put names on the bracket based on the ranking
  18. it seems the match is still on! IOC/WT wants to replace the Chilean girl with the next best athlete from Costa Rica. didn't know that's possible only 4 days before the competition
  19. yeah it seems so, I think both girls will feel great about it. there were lots of media hype about this matchup. btw Kiani's coach is Alizadeh's childhood coach. it was kind of complicated.
  20. finally after 5 years, 5 tough years I have to say yet some people still think the cancellation is still possible I mean beside that Donald orangehair guy/robot/alien
  21. I just read that one Iranian tested positive for COVID in Tokyo that was the headline which was a bit scary but fortunately it was just a TV guy, and organizers put the entire Iran TV personals on quarantine. I have absolutely no problem with that. these guys suck after all, just release the wrestling commentator. Japan can keep the rest forever. 60/70% of our athletes landed in Japan and no problem so far.
  22. their wrestling picks are kind of funny in some weights, even a kid with computer can find out who is the best male wrestler in the world at the moment, (Abdulrashid Sadulaev, 97kg freestyle) yet they predicted him to lose to "Captain America" (Kyle Snyder) in the final. at least Captain America beating the Russian tank, sounds good for the next Marvel movie. but in reality the Russian tank will eat the Cap alive.
  23. a late "injury" I assume. really disappointed I thought he is better than this. is this really hard for these Tennis players to admit they don't give a shit about the Olympics? (no money and no ranking points) do they really have to make excuses ?
  24. updated list https://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2021/07/Final-List-of-Qualified-Athletes_18072021.pdf Israel is in for +109kg instead of Brazil. not sure if there are more changes and @hckošice you will write "Updated and Completed " but again, don't be so sure
  25. I believe this guy has to compete in men's 10m Air Pistol next day morning, it just makes sense for him to not attend the opening ceremony
