  1. oh well, for the first time in history we are going to leave the TKD competition without a medal. our TKD hit the rock bottom here. lots of changes are needed. and the problem is everything but having talents.
  2. today is our bad luck. Sedaghat finished 9th with just 0.1 behind the qualification zone both our shooters did good today, 9th and 10th, both missed the final by the narrowest possible margin
  3. Are they going to give a medal to Mandy Bujold because she was pregnant a million years ago ?
  4. Rostamian missed the final by just 1pt and finished 10th. I know this is normal in shooting but still it sucks to lose by such a small margin
  5. well Kiani had a terrible strategy today which was just throwing kicks with no strategy! I assume she was too nervous to even think about anything. that was probably the most disappointing result of this Olympic for our delegation , (only Yazdani not winning the gold will match this) btw I expect to see Alizadeh in the next Avenger movie. as a new superhero
  6. my point is even 4 years ago he was better than our entire team, he is an all-rounder while those few guys we have are only focusing on one or two events. and as you know it's just really hard to qualify for the Olympics for apparatus specialists. they dismissed him like he is just another below average gymnast we already have. that's very interesting, I didn't even know we will have a World Championship later this year. I didn't hear from Keikha since he failed to qualify. I hope they are seriously training but our gymnastics federation is in kind of trouble. FIG might even suspends our federation. the former GYM president was accused of stealing money (still nothing proved) and she wasn't allowed to run for another 4 years term. FIG found it government's interference and they postponed the election to find a solution with FIG. (which wants that lady to continue in her position) so right now we don't have a proper gymnastics federation and in middle of the Olympics nobody cares about it, also we will have a new "government" in office in 12 days which will postpone everything for a good amount of time. so I'm not sure if Iran even participates in the World Championships, but a world medal in this sport will be HUGE, since I was a kid everybody was talking about "we have to take Gymnastics (and Swimming) more seriously" and they are still talking about it just talking of course.
  7. yeah indeed and I had to say that to like million people here that this Bahrain handball team is made up homegrown players. whenever some of our rich Arab neighbors achieve something in sports people here by default assume they are using naturalized athletes. (while for example KSA never do that) you may find this interesting, this is the turning point of Bahrain's handball, when they qualified for the World Champs for the first time with this crazy goal in the last second and they never stopped to improve from there
  8. it's more or less the same. they show the ranking only after the end of each round. I mean even during those elimination shots, we don't know the ranking after the first shot. (unless you check the website simultaneously)
  9. nope, hard to believe since they have naturalized athletes in other sports but in Handball they are all really from Bahrain. and Bahrain's population is smaller than my town maybe we should learn few things from their handball program. btw as far as I know most of them play for the same club. so they are more "prepared" they also have a good coach
  10. Milad Karimi from Kazakhstan made it to the finals in two apparatus. he has an Iranian father (and a Kazakh mother) few years ago his dad really wanted him to represent Iran, he came here and talked with our Gymnastics federation in two different times. it didn't work out and our federation eventually said "he is not really good enough" so the guy who according to our so-called experts wasn't good enough to make our Gymnastics team (which is very poor) is now in the Olympic final
  11. actually right before the last shot he asked his coach "do you want me to take this one with the left hand?" and he kept the pistol in his left hand for few seconds, for a second I really thought he is going to do that (he had 6-7 pts lead but still that's insane) fortunately he was just joking. our female shooter is OK, she made some World Cup finals here and there but she is far from his level. I don't think they have a big chance for medal, Foroughi most probably will celebrate too much and won't be focused but we will see. nothing is impossible in shooting. I will be very happy if they end up with the bronze. in that case you can take the gold
  12. wow. this was completely unexpected. beating the mighty Poland and I think Iran finally did it on the 7th match point my heart couldn't take it anymore Alekno
  13. Szilagyi and Samele eliminated all of our 3 fencers together and they both made it to the final at least it wasn't for nothing
  14. a fight between China and CIV is ongoing in "mixed team event" which is an exhibition event here. the commentator said that this event will make his debut in Paris 2024 ! probably he doesn't know IOC already announced the 2024 events
  15. nope, it wasn't really "easy", Guzman is a 2019 World medalist and your boy is a future star in this sport, Vito is just too good today.
  16. Congrats to Italy and Tunisia and also Spain and Thailand on the women's side. once again Olympic Taekwondo proved to be a completely different thing than other tournaments.
  17. that's what everybody asks here he is +40 but still very new to this sport. btw he is also a nurse and had a tough year (2 year actually) dealing with COVID patients too.
  18. you know I usually cheer for Italian athletes (unless they are against the Iranians) this injured Hadipour is not capable of beating Korea. so that's OK you can have it we already won that medal in the first day we always wanted
  19. never mind, it's not "easy" anymore. South Korea lost the semifinal
  20. Hadipour is fighting with a torn ACL, I knew Guzman will be too much for him. I guess nobody watched his defeat in Iran since we won a medal at the same time but can Guzman be nice and win the semifinal and put him back for the repechage ? the repechage looks "easy" for him if he gets the chance
  21. well exactly at the same time we lost two medal chances in Fencing and Taekwondo but right now who cares wow gold medal in shooting ! Foroughi was dominant this season but still this is Olympics. nobody really expected him to win a medal. I guess for few minutes Iran will be 2nd in the medal table. also this is the first time since 1976 that Iran win a medal in the first day of the Olympics
  22. as other user said, Iran doesn't face Israeli athletes, and only when they represent Israel (which is still stupid) I mean CZE basketball team has an Israeli head coach and that's no problem. we had footballers in European clubs with Israeli team mates. and it seems most people don't know that there are Jews in Iran. not too many but still.
  23. and why you were expecting anything else ?
  24. If having two flagbearers means gender equality why USA don't have two presidents ? male and female ? and why Mr Thomas Bach doesn't give half his power to a female IOC president ? hmm ? to me gender equality means people get credit for their quality and their achievements, not because of their gender. as simple as that. beside those pictograms segment which was fantastic, to me another good thing about the ceremony was limiting delegations to just 6 officials. I really hope they continue doing that or even makes it 0. I enjoy to see the athletes, not the coaches or officials.
  25. looks like Green is the only color in Turkmenistan, they never tried any other color anywhere
