  1. 3rd win in a row for Iran, this time after a crazy VAR decision. our player even left the pitch after the red card but then they realized they have to check the offside position too and found it offside and few minutes later Iran scored the winning goal without VAR Iran had to play 30 minutes with 10 players at 0-0. in Group A we already have a big gap between top 2 (Iran and Korea) and the rest. and Japan is in big trouble in Group B, they lost to KSA tonight. still too early but KSA and Australia are creating a gap. Japan can't lose more points if they don't want to play playoffs.
  2. what a pity I was hoping they can find a solution before this but it seems they didn't. Iran Gymnastics Federation is somehow suspended right now. I mean not officially but in reality. the former/current president is accused of stealing money. still just accused, nothing is official but per rules in Iran she wasn't allowed to run for this position as long as she has an open case in the court. the election was supposed to be held few months ago but FIG didn't like the news and threatened the Iranian officials to suspend Iran if they don't let her run for another term. she is still in her office, FIG recognizes her as the president but per rules in Iran her time is expired and whatever he signs as IGF president means nothing. therefore no money, nothing else, she can't do shit but still she loves to keep that position. this is just deadend and who knows how long it will take. I just feel terrible for those gymnasts.
  3. thanks for remembering my question I saw that before but that's not accurate for some sports. I happened to find the "technical handbook" for only few sports and for example in shooting they listed "mixed trap" but that's mixes skeet. or Squash has mixed doubles for the first time in 2022 but they didn't mention it. if you see few mistakes you don't trust the rest. I was looking for the official technical handbooks in past few days but only few of them are available online. I mean something like this which explains everything you should know about the event http://www.dancesport.org.sg/DanceSport-Breaking.pdf
  4. FIVB is just great in this I can't understand their obsession with this "Final six" thing. what's wrong with having 8 teams and quarterfinal round ? btw I was checking old results and FIVB is changing format since 1994! they never used the same format twice since then in the men's WCh. I think Volleyball is the only team sport with this.
  5. I don't think this Iranian team deserved anything more than quarterfinal. except the match against Argentine when they didn't want to win. Iran had great start in other 4 matches but then struggled and even that terrible USA team created lots of problems. when something bad happens 4 times in a row you don't deserve to win. Kazakhstan was the better team today. this team was 90% the same as 2016. probably it's time to move on and build a new team.
  6. that was a hell of a match, I read some stats in our media that this is our 31st futsal match against Uzbekistan and Iran had won all previous 30 matches but I'm sure this one was the hardest one. even though Iran was leading 9-6 in last 50 seconds and Uzbeks scored two goals in the last minute. the last time Iran had a +2 goals win in a World Cup match was 17 years ago these guys just love to live on the edge, having close matches against everybody, no matter who, even against the worst team of the competition (USA)
  7. end of preliminary round at the Asian Championships made it to the semifinal and therefore qualified for the World Championship in Spain. there will one more quota for the 5th place team. this will be the first time in history that Iran qualifies for a Women's World Championship in an Olympic team sport. yeah they had a very easy group and only had to beat Jordan, Syria, Kuwait and Palestine but still this is something historic considering all limitations women are facing here unfortunately. I don't think they will finish last in Spain I believe they can beat 2 or 3 teams there.
  8. a 2-2 would be perfect but I think Iran will be happy with this 2-1 defeat. we had a game finally after Argentina scored. the last 10 minutes was indeed interesting. I hope the God of futsal forgives this behavior because of that last 10 minutes because I just have a feeling that Iran will choke against Uzbekistan this time Iran played something like 50 official matches with Uzbekistan and won all of them but there is a first time for everything, specially when you don't respect fairplay
  9. Iran 0-0 Argentina at half time Zero shots on target for Iran, they barely even went to the Argentina's half I'm not sure if Argentina is really trying. they had some chances but I don't think it was 100% trying. the first 10 minutes was without anything special but probably since then Argentina decided to try a bit. just a bit. I believe Iran will come forward to equalize if Argentina somehow scores. otherwise it will finish 0-0. Iran don't want to lose but don't want to win either
  10. it seems the number of events is now finalized, the total number is still 482 but Badminton is now 7 and Tennis is also 5 (both make sense now) instead they added two more events to Esports and that's now 8. (event's names are already mentioned here) I also found out why OCA plays with the numbers by mixing sports into each other. based on their own rules they can't have more than 40 (or 41) sports in the Games, 28 Olympic sports + 4 or 5 host selected Olympic sports + 5 popular sports in Asia (1 from each region) + 2 by the organizers + 2 suggested by OCA. still looking for technical handbooks to know the exact name of events in each sport, specially Shooting. for most sports it's not hard to guess based on the numbers. this is the only Technical handbook I found on the net, guess what ? breaking http://www.dancesport.org.sg/DanceSport-Breaking.pdf
  11. when Romano came in I thought what the hell they are expecting from guy who was playing in 2nd division not long time ago it turned out to be a genius sub by DeGiorgi looks like switching jobs in Lube and Italy NT with Blengini worked well for both of them Congrats to Italy and also well done to Slovenia for having an amazing tournament
  12. Qatar is currently 4th best team in Asia, they deserved the quota. (well yeah I know they have lots of naturalized players, I was talking about their level) they beat Australia twice 3-0 and they would beat Chinese Taipei if they had to play. andddd 4th title for Iran 4th in past 6 editions, and it could be 6 out of 6 but our federation stupidly decided to send B/U21 teams to 2015 and 2017 editions
  13. looking at the bracket, I'm almost sure that Iran won't play for a "win" against Argentina. that's also clear from the interviews. but I wonder if Argentina thinks the same I assume not, they are the current World Champion after all. Uzbekistan ==> Kazakhstan looks easier than Japan/Paraguay and then Russia
  14. African Champs semifinals 3-2 3-1 and qualified for the World Championship. Egypt still has a good chance through the ranking specially id they don't lose the bronze medal match
  15. I was just watching Morocco-Egypt in African Champs, Egypt needed a win to stay alive, Morocco needed 2 sets to win the group but even before the match I knew they didn't want that. but I didn't know much they care about the fairplay the match was normal until 16-12 in the 4th set, Egypt was leading 2-1 but Morocco was bringing the match to the tiebreak, all of a sudden after the technical timeout they decided to play like crap from 16-12 to 19-25. that was a 13-3 run for Egypt I believe even in a normal situation Egypt was still the favorite in the tiebreak but with "this" Morocco just eliminated Kenya. Morocco picked up the "easier path" to the final and world Championship quota. they wanted to avoid Tunisia which is probably the strongest team here here is the knockout round map vs vs vs vs
  16. who needs European teams when Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bangladesh are supporting this proposal https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/four-south-asian-nations-back-fifas-biennial-world-cup-push-2021-09-06/
  17. oh I know these 2 guys VERY well. they were playing for your NT since forever I remember them when I was very young yeah it happens when you keep a group of players for a very long time. you will be weaker for a while until the new generation arrives. Egypt was 19th in the WR, but you will lose some places after this (against one of the teams in bottom of the ranking) you know WR matters a lot because if you fail to make it to the final that's how you can qualify for the World Championship. you have to stay in top 24 at least.
  18. well I think we in Iran know a bit more about him as far as I know there are some similarities between Egypt and Iran in general so I believe he will do well in Egypt if he can survive the early storm. he had a bad start here, I remember we lost to Uzbekistan (our first defeat ever against this team) and Lebanon during the 2014 WCQ but we finally made it by some miracles in last 3 matches. but from then he started to create his own team with players loyal to the NT (and not anything else) I don't know how much time he will have in Egypt but I believe he is a good coach. I was really happy when Iraq finally didn't sign with him (they were close apparently) and signed with Advocaat instead (therefore they lost 3-0 yesterday) the most important thing about him, people either love him or hate him. that's because of his character. and people here still follow him very closely, so I'm sure from now on lots of people from here (millions actually) will follow every single news about Egypt NT
  19. is this your complete team ? (I mean the best team possible) I watched the 5th set and it was really surprising. I remember Egypt beating our team not long ago (2 years ago actually) credit to Kenya, they really played 10 times better than what I was expecting
  20. after just surviving the first round, things look better for Iran in the 2nd round. can't remember the last time we beat Iraq this easily. 3-0 against Iraq was much better than my expectations South Korea narrowly beat Lebanon and UAE tied with Syria in other matches of this group. in other group it looks like KSA, Australia and Japan will battle for top 2 places. KSA was lucky Oman missed an empty goal in 93rd minute today.
  21. it was a boring day for Group A in AFC qualifiers, only 1 goal in 3 matches and that was a lucky deflection goal Iran played terrible against Syria. I can't remember any serious chance, and even the goal was a lucky one. it seems everybody feels relaxed after surviving the first round like that. while the real competition is just started. after watching this, I will be happy with 1 pt against Iraq. I believe we will be in a better situation for the next window all of our coaches were COVID positive for this match and some random guy was managing the team today
  22. Iranian judo federation is suspended (for 4 years) and since everybody knows this suspension actually will last forever (even after that 4 years Iran won't participate in non-Asian tournaments) all Judokas are switching to other sports (Kurash, Jujitsu or Sambo) or simply quitting the sport. this has nothing to do with Paralympic Judo but still they have to train with normal judokas. this is what everybody wanted. (inside or outside the country, IJF, the government here, everybody) so I assume everybody is happy now. except those poor judokas but who cares about them.
  23. this sounds a bit positive https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1112328/weightlifting-congress-vote
  24. interestingly Iran won two gold medals in Judo (I assume first gold medal ever in this sport in Paralympics) reading their interview, they both had hard time to find a training partner because nobody trains Judo in the country anymore because of the suspension. which is great, that's what everybody wanted. no more Judo.
  25. it seems everything is going according to plan in Afghanistan https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/western-nations-race-complete-afghan-evacuation-deadline-looms-2021-08-25/
