  1. @thepharoah what's the general situation of Queiroz there ? I think Egypt did OK reaching the semifinal so far. but here everyday I read news in our media about guy A and guy B in Egypt wants him to be fired do people, media and football experts in Egypt hate him this much already? (which is funny if true, because this is just his first tournament with Egypt A team and his team is not eliminated yet) (as I said before all of his steps anywhere in world will be followed carefully here)
  2. one of our flag bearers tested positive for COVID and will miss the Games. I don't know what's the plan now.
  3. and qualified from Asia
  4. I was very wrong, , Korea managed to bring some new players to Saudi Arabia to replace their infected players and they beat Iraq for the 5th place feel sorry for Iraq they woke up a bit late during the match
  5. we are getting close to the WOG and I seriously miss @Orangehair43 is he already focusing on Paris 2024 and its cancellation ? PS: I see some users try to be like him but no way. you can never beat this guy. he is my favorite troll
  6. UWW made some minor changes in the rules, I think only wrestling fans will understand some of these changes. https://uww.org/article/uww-changes-rules-promote-active-wrestling-balance-brackets but they made a change i was hoping for several years! from now on we will have the same number of wrestlers in two sides of the draw. (until now the bottom half was often harder with more wrestlers) but from 2022 they will follow a new format something like Boxing and Taekwondo. also there will be 8 seeded wrestlers in Worlds and Olympics. 4 seeded wrestlers in continental events.
  7. they got lucky with Japan's absence and this COVID thing in South Korea camp. also I have to say Kuwait's GK made a terrible mistake in last 10 seconds against Iraq but I think they deserve it after all, they are indeed the most improved team in Asia. I mean few years ago beating Iraq was a sure thing but this year for the first time we had a hard time against them, even Bahrain beat them by just 3 goals. I believe Iraq would beat Korea if they had to play. but I guess we will never know.
  8. after narrowly surviving the first round, the final round was easy and Iran qualified for the World Cup today for the 3rd time in a row. have to admit that looked impossible a year ago but postponing everything because of COVID helped Iran. I believe South Korea will qualify too in few days. but the other group is still interesting with Japan, Australia and KSA all winning their matches. interestingly Saudis are not safe yet despite winning 6 out of 7 matches so far.
  9. It seems and are going to represent Asia at the 2023 World Championships. it will be a huge achievement for Iraq. they managed to get a draw from Kuwait today in a dramatic comeback and qualified for the 5th place match because of having better GD. BUT South Korea who was supposed to play Qatar today has something like 11 infected players and couldn't play today. they have 3 days to somehow recover for 5th place match against Iraq. but I assume that's highly unlikely. Iraq is almost guaranteed the 5th place and WCh quota
  10. in middle of the Asian Championships in Saudi Arabia, Iran and Bahrain are already qualified for the semifinal and therefore the 2023 World Championship. Qatar is 99.9999% qualified too. as well as Saudi Arabia. there will be one last spot available, it's between Korea, Iraq or Kuwait. as long as I remember Iran's fate at the Asian Championship always went to the last minute and the last shot. Iran missed the World Championships 4 or 5 times because of just one goal. but this time that last seconds goal happened in our favor.
  11. yes but the thing is, it doesn't look like a start it's something like 0.001% progress . kudos to that girl though to go this far on her own, people here prefer to watch tennis and play for fun. nobody plays competitive Tennis seriously.
  12. unfortunately it seems our NOC enjoys to follow the IOC's "advise" which means 67% of our small 3-man delegation will carry the flag ! it will be Sattar Seyd (CC skiing) and Atefeh Ahmadi (Alpine) 4 years ago our flagbearer crying during the parade of the nations even made it to the IOC's Olympic highlight. but now with this "advise" it's not really a special moment for anybody.
  13. That more shows how bad we are in this sport, even winning a match in juniors tournament (which is absolutely nothing) is considered as an achievement
  14. kind of interesting that commentator realized what just happened. I mean if I was the commentator I would be confused at least for few seconds to see what that whistle was about. but he knew it instantly and saying something like "oh my dear, oh my dear" in a very funny tune looks like something like that happened in Africa before. he wasn't really surprised.
  15. It looks true, similar to what i heard here and there
  16. well I mostly write comments about sports I'm more informed about. but it doesn't mean I don't follow other sports. I just read others comments and learn from them. I love watching sports in general. major competitions though, not all the World Cups. if I'm not wrong since 2006 (the first time I watched the WOG) I didn't miss a single final. I think I'm more interested in Alpine, Biathlon, Figure skating, even Curling and Short Track the only winter sport I have hard time to enjoy is Ice Hockey (and maybe Nordic Combined, I don't know why that even exists) I tried to watch and like Ice hockey but it's just not my taste I still watch the gold medal match.
  17. whenever this thread pups up I come to see if our "friend" has anything new about Olympic cancellation his posts always make me laugh. but then I only see your boring posts. boooo
  18. I follow the news about Afghanistan, with Taliban in charge they are shutting down everything (related to media) one by one, but I rarely hear anything about COVID and the vaccines. I think nobody actually cares about the disease anymore. they have much more important things to deal with !
  19. don't expect me to tell you all of our secrets we have athletes who are capable of finishing the 1st run after the 2nd run. but what's more interesting for me is what the hell someone from Cape Verde was doing there? how they found this guy ? or how this guy found them ?
  20. he had a serious injury after the 2018 Youth Olympics (when he won the gold at the age of 15) and wasn't active in past couple of years. also survived a horrible car accident (there is a scar on his head because of that) hopefully he stays healthy from now on. also I have to add that 267kg CJ by Talakhadze was the best CJ ever. we had a 266kg CJ long time ago but since they changed the bodyweights couple times after that you can't see that on the record books. so what Lasha did today was the best Snatch ever, best CJ ever and best total ever in the history of this sport that was also the second best sinclair score ever. Naim Suleymanoglu still has the best sinclair ever with 500.7 when he lifted 342.5kg at 60kg bodyweight in 1988
  21. and most importantly from a bronze in CJ I think the lift was OK but well who I am. that could be a great result for 18 years old. hopefully he improves his Snatch , he needs that to compete for a real world medal (I mean a medal in total)
  22. another world record for Talakhadze . boring ... 225kg snatch
  23. Motamedi underperformed today but still it was good enough for a world title (thanks to the general level of the competition) we also had a surprise bronze medal. I think this is it, 3 total medals , 1 G, 1 S and 1 B. there will be no medal for the rest of the team even though I'm looking forward to see 18 years old Alireza Yousefi, he surprised everybody at the 2018 Youth Olympics when he was 15 but got injured after that and this is his comeback.
  24. that's pretty normal for our coach they always do this for almost everybody. having a low 1st attempt and then jump as much as possible for the next attempts. this time the jump was bigger Dehdar had lifted 219kg before so it wasn't completely out of his reach but not today. we have a very weak team here in general. I was only expecting one medal at 102kg. (81kg medal was quite surprising) our top weightlifters (Moradi and Rostami) are boycotting the national team and Olympic silver medalist Davoudi decided to take a break.
