  1. that's a terrible news, not because I really care about the Winter Universiade but because that means we will probably hear more of news like this in future
  2. well they have rules for the seeding, not really great but there are rules, mostly based on 2019 Worlds and those who receive Wild Cards are always in the 4th pot. for example Kazakhstan is in pot 3 because they are taking the place of Asia 1. (since top 2 Asian teams finished in top 12 of the last edition)
  3. maybe the same person who distributes the wild cards?
  4. Fortunately we won't be in that playoff match but that was bad luck for AFC teams but I think Japan and Australia have enough experience against non-Asian teams. even though everything is possible in one match. it's not even a sure thing that Australia/Japan can beat the 3rd placed team from the other group.
  5. preliminary Start list for the World Championship https://iwf.sport/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2021/11/2021-IWF-WC_ENTRY-LIST_22112021.pdf guys in Brunei probably never participated in a weightlifting competition they wrote their body weights instead of the "Entries"
  6. I watched almost all of the finals. lots of interesting high scoring matches, even though it was painful to watch, I still don't know why exactly our federation withdrew the way absolutely nobody talks about it, it looked like a super important security reason, something like the whole Dubai is going to blow up and only these guys knew about it. hopefully one day in near future we will know the real reason, but for now it seems they changed the plan and will send the A team to the Asian Championship next month (something to make up for the athletes whom I assume are very upset now) they were supposed to send the 2nd tier Karatekas to Kazakhstan.
  7. cancelling the whole Olympics don't you think?
  8. maybe but I'm not sure. they didn't disqualify all of Ilya Ilyin's results even though he was caught twice both in 2008 and 2012. but they did that for some other weightlifters , so I don't know how it works
  9. it seems they saved doping samples from other competitions as well! list of doped weightlifters from 2012 European Champs in re-testing, some of these guys were already caught for other doping violations. https://iwf.sport/2021/11/18/the-ita-asserts-13-rule-violations-against-weightlifters-following-a-re-analysis-campaign-of-2012-samples/ Hysen Pulaku (Albania) Hanna Batsiushka (Belarus) Dimitris Minasidis (Cyprus) Irakli Turmanidze (Georgia) Rauli Tsirekidze (Georgia) Cristina Iovu (Moldova) Florin Ionut Croitoru (Romania) Razvan Constantin Martin (Romania) Oxana Slivenko (Russia) Gokhan Kilic (Turkey) Bunyami Sezer (Turkey) Hatice Yilmaz (Turkey) Fatih Baydar (Turkey)
  10. Only a miracle can prevent Iran (and South Korea) from qualifying for the World Cup. we will most probably qualify mathematically in the next matchday. that miraculous win in Lebanon helped them to play better this time and it was an easy 3-0 win over Syria. it was much much easier than expected, I mean comparing to the first round where Iran was an inch away from the elimination thanks to the Belgian charlatan. but what's interesting that nobody takes our Croat coach serious. I believe Iran and Korea will qualify 99.99% from Group A. but Group B is a bit complicated. Australia had another draw today, now they are 3rd behind KSA and Japan. KSA looks really good to qualify with 16pts. I think its between Japan and Australia and I have a feeling Australia have to play another playoffs.
  11. @thepharoah how things work in Africa for the next round ? top 5 from the World Ranking will be seeded ? or something else ?
  12. come on , he just won Euro with Italy. beating Northern Ireland in Belfast was always a tough task. and yes Italy had a TERRIBLE match. but I can't stop cursing Mancini for another reason, for letting Jorginho taking that penalty. I can't imagine another World Cup without Italy but now it's very much possible at least they have enough time to recover from this.
  13. for some unknown reasons Iran is not going to participate in this competition. they were supposed to leave yesterday but then all of a sudden they cancelled everything. officially because some of team members are COVID positive but that's a lie. they don't even train together to become infected altogether. there is another reason behind this, we still don't know what. what a terrible news, Iran won the last 3 team Kumite gold medals and they were looking for the 4th gold in a row.
  14. You can't simply revert it. I mean you can revert it but then you have to wait 6 months (and be tested like others) to be allowed to compete in international competitions. (not sure if that's 6 months or 3 but I think that's 6) our weightlifter Sohrab Moradi had this problem for 2016 Rio Olympics. when he was banned our WL federation mistakenly (and without his knowledge) announced him retired to the IWF and when he came back from his suspension trying to qualify for the Olympics he found out he has to wait another 6 months! later IWF (Ajan himself) allowed him to participate at the Pan-American Champs as a guest to complete his two qualification marks and he won the gold in Rio but he almost missed the Olympics because of that mistake.
  15. how Mancini can let Jorginho take this penalty? this is the 3rd very important penalty he is missing for the NT in past few months.
  16. Lebanon had just one shot on goal today, this is their goal which was very weird the ball was certainly going out but then the very strong wind in the stadium kept it on the pitch (the ball changed its direction on the air like something hit it) and while our players were just watching the Lebanese player scored!
  17. You sure ? I can't see anything about that on FIBA website and I just heard that we will play Bahrain in 2 weeks. apparently they postponed games of one group in Asia. not all the games.
  18. for some nonsense reasons, our coach Skocic had an interview with one of Croatian newspapers saying something about Iranian football in general. he apparently said something like "Iranian players are not that good in tactical matters" (which is probably true) Taremi didn't like this and wrote something not-so-good in his twitter. still no big deal but when Skocic tried to call him to talk about this. he didn't answer his phone, it happened so many times apparently and our coach probably thought he has to show he is the boss. yeah I know this is stupid but Taremi is famous for being stupid and saying stupid things. I mean he is a smart player but also stupid in his life at the same time. kind of weird to be both stupid and smart at the same time
  19. but it's very sweet to win a match like that I was completely hopeless, Iran wasn't doing good after 70th minute and Sardar scored out of nowhere. and Lebanon deserved it for wasting time like that. our Croat coach took a huge risk by not inviting Taremi before this match, losing to Lebanon would be catastrophic. but I think we are almost safe now. 1 or 2 more wins will be enough.
  20. Sometimes I'm glad that we are not good in boxing and I don't have to watch this shit a lot. I usually don't complain about the officiating in boxing because I know officiating in this sport is complicated but sometimes it's unbelievable. I assume our last remaining boxer will lose tomorrow, no matter how many punches he lands because it doesn't matter, and that will be my last day of watching this shit show.
  21. it was a very quick match (1 or 2 minutes) because of bleeding, the Jordanian won because he started the bout very well
  22. brackets https://www.aiba.org/blog/aiba-mens-world-boxing-championships-official-draw-results/
  23. that was expected. this event was too big and not that important (I like it personally though) to happen in middle of a pandemic. I really hope we have a Corona-free world in November 2023. but I hope we won't hear the same thing about the big Asian Games in 2022. China is still very cautious about everything and not sending athletes to lots of international events. @Vic Liu sorry to ask you again but is there any rumor or news about cancellation of the AG ? I know China is committed to host the WOG but that's easier to handle. AG is also too big with more than 40 sports. considering the situation in China how much chance we have to actually watch the AG next year in September?
  24. thanks to Chinese Taipei NOC, all technical handbooks of the 2022 Asian Games are available here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gvgwm0dlA8JW3j7-6npwBdzzo0GGeHbq only Esports handbook is missing, because they still didn't finalize the rules.
  25. yeah he acted like a crybaby but serious Iran was in big trouble after losing two matches in the first round and since then we changed the coach and his team won 10 matches (7 WCQ matches + 3 friendly) in a row and set a new record in Iran's history and he is not even a great coach
