  1. the great Justin Gatlin still keeps all of his 5 Olympic medals. we will be fine
  2. great news. hopefully she wins the gold and will be allowed to keep it eventually. (which is still a different story) there are lots of questions about this case. Russia did terrible things in case of doping and deserves to be punished (and is being punished) but we are talking about 15 years old ffs. and everybody knew Russia will win this gold (and team event gold) with or without Kamila. of course this should be investigated and whoever responsible for this (coach, doctor etc) should be punished but meanwhile I'm glad to see her performing two more times. hopefully this whole thing doesn't effect her performance.
  3. I don't think it has anything to do with the medalists. MAYBE they just don't know what to do with the Italian who received a DNF. giving him the 5th place in the ranking or not (instead giving it to the 1st place from Final B) just a wild guess though
  4. I never make a list. I simply wake up early in the morning (as early as the first final of the day) and watch as many events as possible until the end of the day. and then switch to do my own things. but as usual. after a week the lack of sleep is making life hard for me. and I guess to have make some decisions the last time Beijing hosted the Olympics I was really sick in last days of the Games. (and I was 14 years younger) I managed Tokyo 2020 much better but this time for this WOG I'm not completely free and have to make time for the other things so I guess snowboard cross mixed team is going to be the first WOG final I'm not going to watch live since a very long time
  5. really happy for Wierer's bronze. I hope some miracle happens in next 2 races and she wins a gold eventually
  6. I noticed this guy in every single Luge race. always standing there. always "not looking" to the luger at all. always looking to another direction today he is wearing something black but I think he was usually in white. is this a common thing to put a human scarecrow near the luge track ?
  7. quick question, if the best USA team (with NHL players) was supposed to play the best China team (without these naturalized American and Canadian players) what would be the scoreline ? I know it would be ugly but how much ? and what we should except today ? still a one-sided match not worthy of watching?
  8. what about gender equality? why each team had 2 male and 1 female members (I know it's 1 M, 1 F and the last one is open but that automatically means a second male) Short track, Freestyle skating and Ski Jumping are debuting their first ever mixed events in the olympics here. right ? I bet Tommy Bach and his friends already have a committee in place thinking about how to create a mixed event in football, basketball and handball they won't rest until we have mixed events everywhere
  9. did it ever happened ? I mean it sounds a very unlikely scenario . only if 2 snowboarders are very very injured that they can't even stand on the board. because just finishing the race is enough. Short Track is a different thing. lots of guys get disqualified I remember we had the small final in 2018 even when we had 6 snowboarders in the final
  10. probably giving more rest time to snowboarders in 2nd semifinal. just filling the time with a race instead of doing nothing for 10 minutes
  11. when they made rule. they probably wouldn't predict a 15 years old becomes this famous. under 16 athletes are always unknown. I just hope she doesn't get banned somehow. she is just AMAZING to watch. the best skater ever.
  12. amazing despite our not-so-good doping record, we had only 1 positive case in the whole Olympic history. (which was 50 years ago) and this guy who was supposed to finish almost last in his competition made it 2. hope they ban him for life. and dissolve the whole ski federation. maybe something good comes out of this.
  13. OK guys, now it's time to ask the obvious question can someone tell me (as someone who watches Ski Jumping here and there but don't know all the details) what the hell happened ? I read about suitviolation but why we had so many in one competition ? do they had some special rules for this mixed event ? why these girls didn't get disqualified in their individual events if they used the same suit?
  14. yeah I guess so I mean I'm not complaining, it's a delight to watch Kamila Valieva on the ice once again but I was very very surprised to see her name on the start list. those 2 other girls would get the same result and Russia doesn't even need that to win the gold medal
  15. kind of interesting/weird that Russia didn't change any of its skaters for the free skating. do they hate their reserve skaters this much ? (they could easily gift 2 (or even 4) more gold medals to them
  16. Congrats to Senegal. I was hoping Egypt can win this but obviously you can't win 3 matches in a row in Penalty shoot-outs. Egypt GK did great and was close to save 3 more penalties though
  17. what's up with USA and Japan using reserve guys for the free skating? is that because they know they are almost guaranteed of silver and bronze and want to give their reserve guys a chance to win a medal too? (in this format no big change will happen after the end of short programs) which sucks IMO, teams should not be allowed to replace someone just for that reason. (only in case of injuries) everything is wrong with this team event this is so unnecessary (saying that as a figure skating fan) but at least if you are going to have a "mixed team event" do it right.
  18. do they still score 10-9-8-7-6 for the free skating parts ? that's one of the dumbest scoring systems ever. it should be at very least 10-8-6-4-2. even though you always should give more value to a 1st place finish. in this format the difference between 1st and 2nd is exactly the same as the diff between 9th and 10th
  19. thanks I remember I read something like that long time, I just thought it's a different method now and since you are too nice to answer the question what about the 1st run in Slalom, GS and AC ? the same format ?
  20. how they determine the order in Downhill (and Super-G) ? I suppose top 20 from the ranking (which ranking?) are drawn randomly and from BIB 21 they will go based on their ranking , right ?
  21. @thepharoah Congrats
  22. no he has Afghan heritage. our names are a bit similar sometimes but that's obvious from his given name
  23. and they missed two very great chances in last minutes of both matches against KSA. both match could easily ended in a draw. PS: the Croat coach of Oman Ivankovic used to work in Iran's most popular club during Queiroz era and they were enemies, real enemies. somehow divided all football fans here. for the same reason all media here follow Oman NT too whoever in Egypt or Oman say anything about these 2 guys that will end up in our media as well.
  24. Australia threw away 2 valuable points by a last second penalty they have to beat both Japan (home) and KSA (away) to qualify. there is no other way for Australia . I guess most probably they have to prepare for the playoffs , they will be favorite against UAE but underdog against the SA team. and if they play like today they can't even beat Venezuela
  25. South Korea becomes the 15th team officially qualified for the World Cup I have to say it turned out to be a very easy group. Iran and Korea are 22 and 20 while the next team has just 9 pts. in other group Japan beat KSA to make things more interesting for the last round. if Australia beats Oman (they are leading 1-0) it will be something like this KSA 19, Japan 18, Australia 17 but still KSA can qualify by just beating a very bad Chinese team (they just lost to Vietnam!!) and send the loser of JPN/AUS match the playoffs. I believe both Japan and Australia are capable of beating the South American team but still it will be a very tough task if it's against Uruguay or Chile for example.
