  1. did it ever happened ? I mean it sounds a very unlikely scenario . only if 2 snowboarders are very very injured that they can't even stand on the board. because just finishing the race is enough. Short Track is a different thing. lots of guys get disqualified I remember we had the small final in 2018 even when we had 6 snowboarders in the final
  2. probably giving more rest time to snowboarders in 2nd semifinal. just filling the time with a race instead of doing nothing for 10 minutes
  3. when they made rule. they probably wouldn't predict a 15 years old becomes this famous. under 16 athletes are always unknown. I just hope she doesn't get banned somehow. she is just AMAZING to watch. the best skater ever.
  4. amazing despite our not-so-good doping record, we had only 1 positive case in the whole Olympic history. (which was 50 years ago) and this guy who was supposed to finish almost last in his competition made it 2. hope they ban him for life. and dissolve the whole ski federation. maybe something good comes out of this.
  5. OK guys, now it's time to ask the obvious question can someone tell me (as someone who watches Ski Jumping here and there but don't know all the details) what the hell happened ? I read about suitviolation but why we had so many in one competition ? do they had some special rules for this mixed event ? why these girls didn't get disqualified in their individual events if they used the same suit?
  6. yeah I guess so I mean I'm not complaining, it's a delight to watch Kamila Valieva on the ice once again but I was very very surprised to see her name on the start list. those 2 other girls would get the same result and Russia doesn't even need that to win the gold medal
  7. kind of interesting/weird that Russia didn't change any of its skaters for the free skating. do they hate their reserve skaters this much ? (they could easily gift 2 (or even 4) more gold medals to them
  8. Congrats to Senegal. I was hoping Egypt can win this but obviously you can't win 3 matches in a row in Penalty shoot-outs. Egypt GK did great and was close to save 3 more penalties though
  9. what's up with USA and Japan using reserve guys for the free skating? is that because they know they are almost guaranteed of silver and bronze and want to give their reserve guys a chance to win a medal too? (in this format no big change will happen after the end of short programs) which sucks IMO, teams should not be allowed to replace someone just for that reason. (only in case of injuries) everything is wrong with this team event this is so unnecessary (saying that as a figure skating fan) but at least if you are going to have a "mixed team event" do it right.
  10. do they still score 10-9-8-7-6 for the free skating parts ? that's one of the dumbest scoring systems ever. it should be at very least 10-8-6-4-2. even though you always should give more value to a 1st place finish. in this format the difference between 1st and 2nd is exactly the same as the diff between 9th and 10th
  11. thanks I remember I read something like that long time, I just thought it's a different method now and since you are too nice to answer the question what about the 1st run in Slalom, GS and AC ? the same format ?
  12. how they determine the order in Downhill (and Super-G) ? I suppose top 20 from the ranking (which ranking?) are drawn randomly and from BIB 21 they will go based on their ranking , right ?
  13. @thepharoah Congrats
  14. no he has Afghan heritage. our names are a bit similar sometimes but that's obvious from his given name
  15. and they missed two very great chances in last minutes of both matches against KSA. both match could easily ended in a draw. PS: the Croat coach of Oman Ivankovic used to work in Iran's most popular club during Queiroz era and they were enemies, real enemies. somehow divided all football fans here. for the same reason all media here follow Oman NT too whoever in Egypt or Oman say anything about these 2 guys that will end up in our media as well.
  16. Australia threw away 2 valuable points by a last second penalty they have to beat both Japan (home) and KSA (away) to qualify. there is no other way for Australia . I guess most probably they have to prepare for the playoffs , they will be favorite against UAE but underdog against the SA team. and if they play like today they can't even beat Venezuela
  17. South Korea becomes the 15th team officially qualified for the World Cup I have to say it turned out to be a very easy group. Iran and Korea are 22 and 20 while the next team has just 9 pts. in other group Japan beat KSA to make things more interesting for the last round. if Australia beats Oman (they are leading 1-0) it will be something like this KSA 19, Japan 18, Australia 17 but still KSA can qualify by just beating a very bad Chinese team (they just lost to Vietnam!!) and send the loser of JPN/AUS match the playoffs. I believe both Japan and Australia are capable of beating the South American team but still it will be a very tough task if it's against Uruguay or Chile for example.
  18. @thepharoah what's the general situation of Queiroz there ? I think Egypt did OK reaching the semifinal so far. but here everyday I read news in our media about guy A and guy B in Egypt wants him to be fired do people, media and football experts in Egypt hate him this much already? (which is funny if true, because this is just his first tournament with Egypt A team and his team is not eliminated yet) (as I said before all of his steps anywhere in world will be followed carefully here)
  19. one of our flag bearers tested positive for COVID and will miss the Games. I don't know what's the plan now.
  20. and qualified from Asia
  21. I was very wrong, , Korea managed to bring some new players to Saudi Arabia to replace their infected players and they beat Iraq for the 5th place feel sorry for Iraq they woke up a bit late during the match
  22. we are getting close to the WOG and I seriously miss @Orangehair43 is he already focusing on Paris 2024 and its cancellation ? PS: I see some users try to be like him but no way. you can never beat this guy. he is my favorite troll
  23. UWW made some minor changes in the rules, I think only wrestling fans will understand some of these changes. https://uww.org/article/uww-changes-rules-promote-active-wrestling-balance-brackets but they made a change i was hoping for several years! from now on we will have the same number of wrestlers in two sides of the draw. (until now the bottom half was often harder with more wrestlers) but from 2022 they will follow a new format something like Boxing and Taekwondo. also there will be 8 seeded wrestlers in Worlds and Olympics. 4 seeded wrestlers in continental events.
  24. they got lucky with Japan's absence and this COVID thing in South Korea camp. also I have to say Kuwait's GK made a terrible mistake in last 10 seconds against Iraq but I think they deserve it after all, they are indeed the most improved team in Asia. I mean few years ago beating Iraq was a sure thing but this year for the first time we had a hard time against them, even Bahrain beat them by just 3 goals. I believe Iraq would beat Korea if they had to play. but I guess we will never know.
