  2. alongside HUN at +109kg, ALB also took the Asian unused quota at 81kg. and women's +87kg unsed quota also went to Austria. and it seems Ukraine rejected 109kg quota which went to Lithuania. also after removing Romania. Toma's quota went to Germany.
  4. Iran's delegation in Tokyo so far, only confirmed athletes are listed here. Iranian sources usually count the reserve guy in Fencing into the list. this is 63 so far. 2 or 3 will be added later. which makes this the biggest delegation for Iran after 1976 (2nd biggest delegation ever) but have to say that's mostly because of Basketball's surprising qualification. I think the whole qualification process wasn't good for Iran. some of our "medal contenders" failed to qualify in wrestling, taekwondo, weightlifting and of course Karate. also we have to leave our best boxer at home. and there will be only one former Olympic medalist in this delegation. from our 8 medalists in 2016, both of our Olympic Champions in weightlifting (Moradi and Rostami) failed to qualify thanks to IWF's stupid qualification system. Kimia Alizadeh cheated her way into the refugee team, 3 of our wrestlers are retired, and another one didn't get selected. that leaves Hassan Yazdani as the only 2016 medalist ! oops, I forgot that Haddadi is a 2012 Olympic silver medalist. so we have 2 Olympic medalists here. Archery (1) Men's Individual: Milad Vaziri Athletics (2) Men's 100m: Hassan Taftian Men's Discus Throw: Ehsan Haddadi Basketball (12) Men's Team: TBD Boxing (2) Men's 57kg: Danial Shahbakhsh Men's 75kg: Shahin Mousavi Canoeing Sprint (1) Men's K-1 1000m: Ali Aghamirzaei Cycling Road (1) Men's Road Race and Individual Time Trial: Saeid Safarzadeh Fencing (3+1) Men's Individual Sabre: Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari Men's Team Sabre: Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari, Mohammad Fotouhi Karate (4) Men's Kumite 75kg: Bahman Askari Men's Kumite +75kg: Sajjad Ganjzadeh Women's Kumite 55kg: Sara Bahmanyar Women's Kumite +61kg: Hamideh Abbasali Rowing (1) Women's Single Sculls: Nazanin Malaei Shooting (6) Men's Pistol events: TBD Men's Rifle events: TBD Women's Pistol events: TBD Women's Rifle events: TBD Table Tennis (1) Men's Singles: Nima Alamian Taekwondo (3) Men's 58kg: Armin Hadipour Men's 68kg: Mirhashem Hosseini Women's 57kg: Nahid Kiani Volleyball (12) Men's Team: TBD Weightlifting (2) Men's 109kg: Ali Hashemi Men's +109kg: Ali Davoudi Wrestling (11) Men's Freestyle 57kg: Reza Atri Men's Freestyle 65kg: Morteza Ghiasi Men's Freestyle 74kg: Mostafa Hosseinkhani Men's Freestyle 86kg: Hassan Yazdani Men's Freestyle 97kg: Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian Men's Freestyle 120kg: Amir Hossein Zare Men's Greco-Roman 60kg: Alireza Nejati Men's Greco-Roman 67kg: Mohammad Reza Geraei Men's Greco-Roman 77kg: Mohammad Ali Geraei Men's Greco-Roman 97kg: Mohammad Hadi Saravi Men's Greco-Roman 130kg: Amin Mirzazadeh
  5. today was the penultimate day of the 2021 Asian Taekwondo Championships and Afghanistan won the gold medal in men's 58kg by "Mohsen Rezaee" I believe this is their first ever continental gold medal in an Olympic sport. the guy had a walkover in the semifinal but still he beat South Korea in the final which is huge. he was supposed to participate at the Asian OQT but he couldn't because of that COVID problem the whole Afghan team was facing. unfortunately for Mr Rezaei, Japan picked this weight to use its host quota, so no Tripartite invitation quota is available for him. if someone deserves some kind of special Wild Card, that's him not those cheaters in the so called "refugee team".
  6. no, the only requirement is about just participating in one major event during the qualification period.
  7. 3 female hosts quotas are allocated now https://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2021/06/Tokyo-2020_Absolute-Ranking-Lists_16062021.pdf Hiromi Miyake (49kg), Kanae Yagi (55kg) and Mikiko Andoh (59kg) so there will be 4 wild cards available in 64, 76, 87 and +87
  8. wrong information! we will have "special ranking" for Asian teams soon. while FIFA won't publish a new ranking soon but they will count these recent results for this "special ranking" some people made the calculation and the new seeding will be something like this. Pot 1: Pot 2: Pot 3: Pot 4: Pot 5: Pot 6: the only change is UAE replacing Iraq in pot 3. now I will surely want and in our group. it will be a nightmare having both Iraq and KSA.
  9. Second Round seeding: Pot 1: Pot 2: Pot 3: Pot 4: Pot 5: Pot 6: I think teams are more or less in the same level in all 6 pots. the draw won't really matter. what I like to get for our NT not because I think these teams are weaker. simply because I feel it's just better to play them. you won't enjoy playing against teams like Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. and also I'm tired of playing certain teams over and over, South Korea and Iraq for example. Iran never faced Australia since that historical 1997 WCQ match.
  10. back in 2016 UWW tried something else, but it seems this time they simply award the quota to the next available athlete. instead of giving it to the 7th place wrestler and reallocate him/her continental quota to the next wrestler from that continent. if they do the same for that women's 68kg quota (Fransson's doping case) that one will go to Poland. ( 7th placed Nigeria is already qualified)
  11. https://uww.org/article/ecuador-romania-earn-olympic-tickets-north-korea-withdraws-tokyo-2020 PRK quotas go to Ecuador and Romania!
  12. oofff finally Iran survived this group with 4 wins, it was an ugly match as expected. lots of fights, the ref almost booked our entire squad ! (I believe Azmoun will miss the first match in 2nd round) Iran missed something like 4 or 5 one on one chances in 2nd half but still beating Iraq is something special. I really hope we don't get them in the 2nd round. that's the only team I want to avoid. and seriously how the hell Wilmots managed to lose to both of these teams. I really hope no other team ever hires this charlatan.
  13. so 4 wild cards are available 2 in men's Kata where only is eligible. if they really award those quotas to the next best NOC "not represented" is first, is next, (and is next in case ) 1 is available in women's Kata where only is eigible. if she doesn't get it for any reason. the best NOC "not represented" yet is 1 is available in women's 61kg, nobody is eligible per WKF's rules. the first NOC "not represented" is
  14. it seems HKG rejected quotas. Thailand received the men's LWT doubles. and Kuwait and KSA took the men's quotas.
  15. I think they know what they are doing. the rules say that says the "Olympic Standing" not the weight separate standing. they made this list based on separate rankings for each weight. yes if we consider +68kg ranking Berultseva is the best ranked Asian but she is 9th in the overall ranking of +61kg. I would protest this decision. to me this is cheating but nothing is going to change. this list is final.
  16. I think those cheating fakeugee athletes don't count, they are special extra quotas.
  17. WKF announces the continental quotas and that's completely different than mine !!! https://www.wkf.net/news-center-new/olympians-confirmed-karates-olympic-debut/1598 I have to check things when I have the time but it seems they had different ranking for each weight (I mean not a combined ranking for 50kg and 55kg) terrible news for me that Alipour is not going to qualify ! and both +61kg quotas are filled now
  18. of course it's Lopez in Tokyo. it was never supposed to be anybody else. (unless he gets injured) Oscar Pino was even training freestyle for the Olympics but when they registered him for the qualifiers, UWW told them he can't wrestle because technically he won the quota for Cuba in Greco-Roman (even if he is not going to use it) and one wrestler can't win two quotas. in 87kg lots of better guys failed to qualify they all could be gold medal contender . among the qualified wrestlers I only see a head and shoulder above the rest. and are next best wrestlers to me. of course in heavier weights lots of matches will finish 1-1 without anybody really scoring. luck will play a big factor here. qualified for the Olympics with this tactic of being passive intentionally in the first round just to receive the first caution, he may do that again in Tokyo. is also a master of doing nothing and winning the matches on caution. and for 130kg, I would say Lopez with no doubt but we didn't see him wrestling for a while and he is way heavier than 130kg. he has to cut weight which will take his energy, considering his age he is not unbeatable anymore. Kayaalp used to be much better but he looks really average and beatable nowadays. still I consider him the 2nd favorite. Semenov is clearly 3rd or maybe even 2nd ahead of Kayaalp. it's a bit hard to pick a 4th wrestler here, I believe that will be decided by someone 1-1 wins. but I had to pick one I would say
  19. for whatever reason they changed the time of Australia-Jordan match which was supposed to be the last match of the day. now it will start half an hour before the start of Iran-Iraq match. I assume Australian team wanted to catch a flight or something like that. but this is probably a very good news for teams in other groups, specially Iran. Lebanon lost 2-1 to South Korea on Sunday so we only need a draw against Iraq if Jordan doesn't beat Australia. I really hope our coach is smart enough to follow that match, it may change Iran's strategy against Iraq. it will be terrible if other results happen in favor of Iran but our team blows it by losing to Iraq! quick summary are already qualified. we will know the other 8 teams tomorrow. but look safe even if they lose, also look good if they don't lose tomorrow. if one of them loses advances. also will take one of the places if they surprise everybody by beating Australia. they did that in Asian Cup. also a very slim chance exists for but they need 3 of Jordan, Iran, UAE and Uzbekistan losing.
  20. no surprise, they have to allocate the Wild Cards first. WKF still didn't even announce the Continental quotas yet, I was expecting that today though. the deadline is 16 June. so two more days left. but keep in mind reallocated quotas are never a sure thing. I'm not even 100% sure about the Continental quotas I posted earlier. let alone reallocated Tripartite Committee quotas. but I read the rules so many times and explained everything in details, I still think she will get the quota. that part was interesting in his instagram, I like to see her reaction when/if she hears the news. after reading that post I really hope she does.
  21. I believe WKF will announce the Continental quotas tomorrow but I double checked everything, I think these guys are going to qualify but this is not official until WKF confirms it Men Kata: Adnane El Hakimi 67: Kalvis Kalnins 75: Yahiro Tsuneari & Abdalla Abdelaziz +75: Brian Irr & Daniyar Yuldashev Women Kata: Alexandrea Anacan & Maria Dimitrova 55: Radwa Sayed & Bettina Plank 61: Alexandra Grande & Rozita Alipour +61: None ================== so we have 4 spots available for Tripartite invitation. but athletes have to be inside top 50 in the World Ranking. Eligible for women's +61kg: (2 quotas available) Marina Rakovic Eligible for men's kata: Sayed Mohammed Al-Mosawi Eligible for men's 67kg: Emil Pavlov Nenad Dulovic Abdullah Shaaban Orges Arifi ================== per rules if they can't allocate wild cards I assume that means they will award those quotas to NOCs without a single quota in Karate. because it doesn't say "not already represented in that category" since there are 2 wild cards available in women's +61kg and only one athlete is eligible to take that. I think that means one will be reallocated at least. the following athletes are best ranked in those categories from NOCs with zero quotas in Karate Women's +61kg: Eleni Chatziliadou Miroslava Kopunova * Chatziliadou should qualify anyway. Kopunova goes only if Montenegro doesn't get that Wild Card. Men's kata: Sayed Mohammed Al-Mosawi * This Kuwaiti guy is the next best athlete (from an NOCs already represented) and he is also the only athlete here eligible for the Wild Card. I beleive one way or another he will take that spot. Men's 67kg: Camilo Velozo * highly unlikely because 4 athletes are eligible for the Wild Card
  22. whoever we send in this sport is excepted to fight for a medal. (probably except Ghiasi, who is a very bad wrestler to be honest) but in reality Hosseinkhani is far from being a medal contender, his Wch medal was 5 years ago. he wasn't even "supposed" to win the trials. Zare and Saravi are strong medal candidates, the younger Geraei too.
  23. 5, Yazdani, Hosseinkhani and Mohammadian in FS. Nejati and A. Geraei in GR
