  1. technically it wasn't the first time. it happened before with limited number and under special situations. but yes that, (first time in football though)
  2. That was a dive. it was justice missing that penalty today we had seed 1 hosting seed 5 in each group. we had lots of "interesting" results because of that 14-0 is the worst result of Cambodia history and 3rd best result of Iran. also the 3rd time in history Iran scoring double digit. but this match was special for another reason, (anybody who doesn't know just google Iran Cambodia) probably that was the reason our players were motivated till the last minute and scored as many goal as possible.
  3. yes and considering the points gap, I don't think women's team can qualify but you never know. ranking changes in a day . I just found the ranking for only 4 days ago and you can see MASSIVE change in number of points for all countries in race. (RUS and CHN are guaranteed) it seems Iran is not the only one "cheating" ! this is the worst qualification format ever. Comparing points from 5 November and 9 November 12,102,587 ==> 12,193,547 11,198,879 ==> 11,356,804 8,658,440 ==> 8,894,875 8,375,136 ==> 8,678,836 6,403,888 ==> 7,041,633 5,976,591 ==> 6,764,738 5,970,420 ==> 6,504,495
  4. I don't think Japan can pick. the best ranked Japanese team qualifies. right now men's team is 8th. women's team is 11th. so it goes to the men's team at least for now.
  5. The last time I checked the ranking couple days ago Iran had something like 6500. now it's 6760. with this rate they will catch Mongolia ! but this is not something to be proud of . this is cheating IMO Iran women's team is TOOOO weak to be 6th in the world. they are just playing smart and having some local events just to collect more points. this is the only quota (in all sports) I hope Iran doesn't win because they simply don't deserve it.
  6. well it seems Keikha had a fall from the Pommel Horse poor guy trained months only for this 1 minute of performance. probably too much stress to handle. I assume his Olympic chance is pretty much gone, right ? he is 4th in World Cup Series Ranking and the Taiwanese guy will qualify with his team here but then China and Japan can qualify individual athletes (alongside with their team) there is no way Keikha can improve his ranking. at best he can keep his place which won't be enough I think our other athlete here Ahmad-Kohani had a good performance (relatively good. considering his level) 9th place for now in Rings. a top 20 finish will be good for him. btw if Milad Karimi qualifies for Kazakhstan, at least there will be an Iranian in Olympic gymnastics
  7. It was probably the best K1 PL event for Iran so far. 3 gold medals and topping the medal table. I think if the qualification was today Iran could qualify 5 which is great. a year ago I was expecting 2 or max 3. for the women's events, a year ago at max I was hoping Abbasali to qualify but right now we have 4 in top 10 and 2 of them in the qualification zone. they are doing even better than the men's team. Bahmanyar won her 2nd K1 PL gold in a row , she is now 2nd in her 50kg weight. Khaksar at 55kg is also 3rd but she is something like 1000pts behind the top 2. Rozi Alipour was the biggest surprise of the competition. finally she managed to win a gold somewhere I think she will be 5th in new ranking. the 4th placed Turkish girl is the current Euro Champion and she will lose LOTS of points if she doesn't defend her title. even 5th place is good enough to win the Asian quota. in short I think Iran is in a very good situation to win at least 4 quotas. (3 is almost guaranteed) only Abbasali is seriously in danger.
  8. Iran played first 2 matches with A team and lost both of them to Russia B and Egypt then played Canada and Australia with reserve players and won both of them therefore reserve team >>> A team
  9. You know for some reasons that match was also "somehow" important for Iran if I remember correctly she didn't lost by Senshou. the Chinese received a caution in last 15 seconds (which annuls the Senshou) she lost by "Hantei" this qualification system makes things a bit weird. some results in other weights help you in another weight !!! for example I want Semeraro to win and Ferracuti to lose (sorry I like all Italian athletes, this is not personal I'm sure you know why ) and beside that it was important for Iran to keep the best ranked Asian athlete. Gong going to the final and probably winning the gold is not a good news for that . another funny thing is I realized there is a chance for Iran to even qualify at 67kg ! how ? we simply have to hope Oceania and America qualify their continental quotas at 75kg (there is an Uzbek athlete in top 10) in that case our 67kg athlete only needs 500-600 pts to catch up 60kg Uzbek Saymatov (and also hoping for Kazakh athletes at +75kg to not get good results) isn't this extremely weird ? Australian results at 75kg will directly affect Iran's chance at 67kg -------------------- PS:the link doesn't work for 61kg results. I just know Giana Lotfy's opponent for bronze is Jovana Prekovic
  10. Iran usually win a good number of medals in this k1 PL events but mostly by different athletes and that doesn't help the Olympic qualification but this K1 event in Moscow was almost perfect. we had 7 athletes close to the Qualification zone and all 7 of them (and nobody else from Iran) made it to the medal round 4 for gold and 3 for bronze. Poursheib (84) and Ganjzadeh (+84) will continue their battle with each other for the Olympic spot at +75kg, they both reached the final, Askari at 75kg lost to Aghayev in last 2 seconds, still that will be enough to send him to the top of the ranking. even though he is not in his best shape recently. for the women's side, Bahmanyar will have her 2nd K1 PL final in a row, with two back to back final (and maybe 2 golds) she is already in top 2 of her weight (and top 4 for her Olympic weight) she will surpass Khaksar for now. Khaksar herself has a chance to win the bronze. even though making into top 2 at 50kg looks easier than 55kg. Rozi Alipour being in the final was surprising, she is still something like 600pts away from the top 4 but she is now the best ranked Asian female athlete. (outside of top 4) the only disappointment was Abbasali. she lost once again to her archrival Uekusa of Japan. still a bronze will keep her in top 2 (of +68kg) but there are 3-4 athletes right next to her.
  11. This is the list of remaining ranking events before the deadline, always possible for WKF to add more events or change something but it seems this is the final list. 2019 Premiere League / 4-6 October / Moscow Premiere League / 29 Nov - 1 Dec / Madrid ----------------------------------------------- 2020 Serie A / 10-12 January / Santiago Premiere League / 24-26 January / Paris African Championship / 7-9 February / Tangier Premiere League / 14-16 February / Dubai Premiere League / 28 Feb - 1 Mar / Salzburg Premiere League / 13-15 March / Rabat European Championship / 25-29 March / Baku * Other continental champs will be held after 6 April and won't affect the ranking.
  12. Are you talking about this ? https://www.iwf.net/doc/statistics/WORLD_CHAMP_SENIOR_001_146.PDF
  13. no but because of the number of doping cases they had. they are limited to send only 1 male weightlifter (for BLR it's 100% and for ARM it's 99%) and I'm quite sure both countries are going to use that lone quota in men's 109kg. and they will battle each other for the gold medal. while at +109kg it will be silver at best. I wrote a long post about it . this is a funny situation ,
  14. Iranian players are not that physically strong to play so many tournaments in summer with the same level. Iran was also terrible during the Asian Champs (played half of the matches with reserve players) they only had one good match in the final. also right now because of some injuries Iran is playing with Ebadipour and Ghaemi as OH, they are both good receivers but terrible attackers, that weakened Iran's attack massively and Ghafour (OP) is also out of shape / tired / not-motivated. Russia's block had a party today. Iran only came back a bit after Kolakovic finally replaced Ghafour but then the reserve OP is also weak. Iran Volleyball Federation had no president in past few months, so Kolakovic has "no boss" right now . no long term plan. they decided to take all tournaments seriously but they ended being terrible in almost all of them. at least they won the Asian Championship but mostly because the other Asian teams aren't that good right now. it was a terrible terrible mistake to play VNL 100% ! (even when Iran didn't have to win all the matches to qualify for final 6) and now we see the consequences . I think Ebadipour played more match with NT this summer than with his club in the entire season in Poland also we have to blame FIVB for this stupid calendar, teams like Iran don't have strong B teams to use them sometimes and they are not smart enough to simply give up some tournaments and focus on the rest. if it was up to me I would consider Asian Champs as #1, then World Cup as #2. OQT as #3 (only because we were in a tough group with Russia) and VNL should be 4th. but unfortunately VNL is more "interesting" for the Iranian fans because of playing some matches at home.
  15. for Turkmenistan, while Rejepov at 81 has a much better chance but I think Toychyyev also has a realistic chance at +109kg. (I explained in details in 2019 World Weightlifting thread) but in short he finished 9th at the Worlds but if you remove 3 (2 ARM and 1 BLR) he is 6th and only 8kg behind the medal zone which is within his reach.
  16. Checking some results, +109kg will be extremely easy for the Olympics. Talakhadze already has the gold but we will have lucky medalists in this weight. let's check the medalists in past few years 2019: 484 460 437 432 431 430 2018: 474 450 447 436 432 427 2017: 477 454 454 447 444 440 and in Euro 2019: 478 447 440 423 422 418 2018: 457 417 416 415 407 380 and in Asia 2019: 432 422 421 418 410 400 2018: 461 456 455 425 405 Best Results in all competitions removing disqualified and ineligible weightlifters (also removing Talakhadze) 2019: 432 431 430 425 424 422 those in red are disqualified, retired or can't participate (99%) because of the quota limitations. Mart Seim of Estonia is very poor recently. and those 2 Iranian weightlifters with big results in 2018 are both retired (even though one of them just changed his mind but it seems late) and this new young Iranian weightlifter is very inconsistent even though he lifted 445kg in Iran 2 weeks before the Worlds. bottom line: there is a VERY good chance for Algeria, Brazil, Turkmenistan, Syria or Chinese Taipei to win a super heavy weight medal in weightlifting winning an Olympic medal with something like 430kg !!!
  17. Qualified countries per new WKF Olympic ranking on 1 October Men Kata: 67kg: 75kg: +75kg: Women Kata: 55kg: 61kg: +61kg: if today was the end of the qualification race, Italy had 5 quotas ! Turkey and Iran with 4, Egypt, USA and Azerbaijan with 3. but if they are going to replace 2019 European with the next one, that may change a lot in this ranking. Only 2 more events left this year, both of them Premier League, Moscow 4-6 October and Madrid late November.
  18. Well done Serbia good chance for Serbia to win both Euro volleys this year (men and women) but who can underestimate Slovenia now ?! can they replace the final venue now ? I would like to see the final in Ljubljana
  19. Talakhadze's 484kg total record is the best total ever. by far. he can consider himself as one of the best weightlifters ever what a terrible day for Davoudi. he just lifted 445kg 3 weeks ago in Tehran. today was the worst day of his career the interesting point is, those Armenian guys most provably won't participate at the Olympics. (Armenia has 1 quota and they will use it for 109kg) Talakhadze already has gold medal in his pocket but we will have some lucky weightlifters winning silver and bronze with low records.
  20. yeah almost. everybody except Olympic Champion Sohrab Moradi who is injured. this is the best we have right now some of our better weightlifters retired in past two years.
  21. man Talakhadze can lift everything ! there is no limit for him
  22. Slovenia watching Heynen and Kubiak losing you can't ask for more.
  23. Draw for the AFC U23 Championship Group A: Group B: Group C: Group D: Group B and C look much harder. top 3 (excluding Japan) will qualify for the Olympics
  24. another unexpected medal our "smart" strategy of winning medal in non-Olympic weights is working Dehdar could easily cut weight for 96kg but with 97kg body weight he won a medal at 102kg.
