  1. I guess it's just a very tough reminder, that track cycling is one of the most dangerous Olympic sports.
  2. Just read about Vogel in our media. That's pretty tragic and extremely disappointing, she was a track cycling star
  3. I can't believe that it's like only a week and then we can start harassing Totallympics members again to enter the TISC contest
  4. Probably gonna go with a song that won't be too well received, again
  5. What would be the deadline? I could help with a few disciplines, since I'm very busy at the moment myself
  6. Damn, 4 years of no medals in the world championships and we end up winning three nice work
  7. It's nice that we're already closing in on the wonderful times of scrolling down to the final page if you want to check out the Lithuanian results
  8. We're sending 14 athletes, this is going to be a good test for what's to come, with nearly the entire team having to change disciplines with the Olympic programme changing. Anyways, I'm expecting to have a team of 10 in the Olympics, but there's still a lot of time, so many things may change.
  9. The turn up in these championships is huge Qualifying heats in scratch, point races, omnium. Seems that more countries are interested in developing track. I was also fairly surprised seeing that we sent a decent squad. Already counted 6 athletes and in some disciplines that we don't usually start in.
  10. I have no idea what sort of team do we have here, but three girls seem to have already started.
  11. Anyways, now that everything is done and dusted, time for some statistics. In 2016 there were 139 medals won and divided by 32 nations, whilst in 2018, there were 150 medals won, but only divided by 27 nations. Nations that had a medal in 2016, but didn't manage to win one in 2018: whilst and the neutral athletes of Russia returned to the medal table. Amount of medals won (changes from 2016 to 2018) - Nation Flag / Medal Difference / (Position in the medal table compared to 2016) +2 (+2) = (-1) +3 (-1) = (+4) +3 (+5) +4 (+9) +4 (+5) +2 (+5) +6 (+8) +2 (-4) -4 (-4) +1 (-7) +6 -7 (-9) -1 (-3) = (+7) -1 (-7) +1 (+7) -1 (-4) = (+5) -1 (=) Outside the top 20 Bulgaria won two medals less Hungary won one medal less Azerbaijan, Estonia, Ireland equal their performance Slovakia, Austria goes up 1 medal Very successful championships for: Greece, Belarus, Ukraine Unsuccessful: Portugal, Turkey And a bit of unnecessary information: the most successful European Championships in Lithuanian history, with only a second gold after 2006 gold medal of Virgilijus Alekna and only the second time after 2012 when more than one medal is won.
  12. Can I just say that I'm very excited how Totallympics were passionate for this athletics championship, that we've reached TISC comment page levels
  13. It's pretty rude to get kicked out of top 8 just by 1cm and by your teammate
  14. Welp, I'm finally home and I just want to say, this championship is freakin' crazy 4th and 5th place for our women in the race walk. @Wanderer knows that this is not a huge surprise to me, as I predicted Brigita Virbalytė-Dimšienė for bronze, but I did not imagine that she would break the national record by more than one minute Lastly, Živilė Vaiciukevičiūtė was more than spectacular today. She broke her PB by more than three minutes, also walked faster than the national record from Neringa Aidietytė and set a U23 record. She is crazy talented, I did not expect anything better than 10 for her today. This is the best European Championships in Lithuanian history, 2 medals and 6 athletes finished in top 8, plus there's still Agnė in the final hoping to make some magic.
  15. I wouldn't know how to explain the pronunciation without audio, but the start in Šerkšnienė (Šer) would sound a bit similarly like Cher Let's play a game after the Cher part, there's a light k and then follow up with a sound as if you're shushing someone (ssshhh), then take the 'NIE' part out of the name Daniel, add an 'N' and from the word 'scare' with a british accent take the 'are' part. Cher + k + ssshhh + (DA)nie(L) + n + (SC)are = Šerkšnienė
  16. Oh my, the way that the european-athletics commentator butchered the names of Lithuanians, I never heard so little effort in my life
  17. Well, that's a fun ride of disappointment, since I only had enough time to watch the women's race and now I'll be leaving in 40 minutes with nothing
  18. Well, can't blame the guy, he already broke it three times this year, so I may allow him a break There's more to come from this very ambitious athlete if he keeps on working as hard as he has been for the past couple of years.
  19. You tried to ruin my day, Bulgaria, but NOT TODAY
  20. It's safe to say that with this medal from Liveta Jasiūnaitė and her beating two of my medal favourites, I no longer care that much about me doing horribly in the prediction contest
  21. It's so difficult to stay in one place
  22. What a finish for Lewandowski. Also, a very iconic 6th place for Lithuania. Simas Bertašius is the truest example of where hard work can get you. He was nowhere close to the top a couple of years ago, but his determination is out of this world.
  23. Now it's time for an iconic first ever 1500m final for Lithuanian men. Or any final, other than 100 metres
