Gold for the women team in sabre, without their number one Sara Balzer !

After Thibus and Blaze yesterday, it was Yannick Borel and Sara Balzer (world number 1 in sabre) who were injured today.. 

 

Not good news at all for ..

Horrible day for the French foil fencers, Thibus suffers a knee injury and Blaze suffers a concussion. 

Macron will not resign, but if the far right win the elections with a clear majority, we'll get a far-right prime minister (a man named Jordan Bardella).

No direct impact on the Olympic Games, but a horrible image sent to the rest of the world..

 

Or maybe we will protest and block the games for 15 days.

Je ne sais pas trop où poster ça, mais j'ai l'impression qu'il y a une belle dynamique pour les sportifs français depuis le début de l'année dans beaucoup de sports (escrime, tir et tir à l'arc, voile, canoë-kayak slalom, l'athlétisme dernièrement...) !

Les signaux semblent au vert pour performer dans un peu plus d'un mois !

 

Less than 50 medals would be a huge disappointment..

More than 60 medals seems to be a bit extreme !

So let's say 55 medals.

 

Breaking the record for gold medals (15) would also be a nice surprise !

At first glance, between the swimming, fencing, cycling and even skateboarding events, I would say that the clear favorite is with close behind.

 

Bolder choices : as pointed by @phelps, but also with a bit of chauvinism !

I think French delegation is a serious favourite for a medal in two events :

• Rugby
• Shirine Boukli in Judo W -48kg

 

... and a clear outsider in many more :

• Marie-Florence Candassamy is the reigning World Champion / Auriane Mallo was 1st and 3rd in the last two events this year (W Epee)
• Our male sabre team is maybe our weakest in the six events of Fencing, but they still scored many podiums this year in the World Cup
• Luke Mkheidze was 3rd in 2021, won one Grand Chelem and finished 2nd in two Grand Chelem tournaments this year (Judo M -60kg)
• Océanne Muller et Lucas Kryzs had really good results this year too in the mixed event (Shooting - Mixed Team Air Rifle)
• Aurélien Giraud was world champion in 2023 (and current world champion ?) in Street Skateboarding

But yeah, the trust between Thibus and the rest of the team is certainly broken because of this case. A shame because they were on the podium of the last two World Cups without Thibus, so they were even pretty good without her.

Her return into the national team will be awkward.

In 2021 I was very bad at this little game. But I want to be very, veeeery optimistic about in 2024 : I strongly believe in the "home advantage" for this type of event.

I'm obviously happy for Simon-JBB-Jeanmonnot-Chauveau But I don't want the French girls to become the Norwegian men I hope for more exciting future races (the Pursuit seems already decided...)

Very, very happy for Lena Häcki-Gross, she's such a joy to watch racing, and she often seemed so close to a first victory (and usually a podium) !

 

The French girls team is so good this season, I love it ! And there is still such a good team in IBU Cup and Junior Cup too...!

Je ne suis aucun de ces sports (à part aux JO), donc très heureux d'apprendre qu'un projet en patinage de vitesse (masculin..) ait été mis en place ! Est ce que c'est aussi en lien avec la possible candidature en 2030 ? 

Car je pensais la fédération des sports de glace perdue à jamais. 😬

Yeah, she hasn't been arrested at all, the police (or in this case "gendarmerie") only got her testimony in the presence of her lawyer 

 

But don't worry it's French justice, we'll have the results of this case in 2 years

Wrestling is unfortunately considered as a (very) minor sports discipline in France (especially compared to other combat sports like boxing or judo). I think his gold medal will make a page in l'Equipe (the largest sports magazine in France), but it will be the only media coverage for him. I myself admit to having learned of Ibrahim Ghanem's existence yesterday.

We have really bad and evil federations in the country, but Artistic Gymnastics's is clearly one of the worst.

Disastrous championships for  for the moment, with maybe only one boat that will get a quota.

For the moment, no plausible explanations from the federation. 

 

The two Lightweight boats were contenders for the podium, and here we are now with the men eliminated and the women in difficulty for the last quota in Final B. 

Je ne suis absolument rien au pentathlon, mais depuis qu'ils ont changé leurs règles suite à la polémique de l'équitation, j'ai l'impression que les francais(e)s ont bien baissé au terme de niveau non ?
