  1. US only sends top athletes to sports that actually attempt to have top talent.
  2. To be fair badminton is non-existent in Argentina. Still, good for Laos on getting a win.
  3. If I had my way I'd completely separate all events that award medals. In gymnastics' case, a separate team all-around, individual all-around and apparatus qualification round. That may be asking a lot though...
  4. The Youth Olympics encourages nations to use existing venues. Overall it looks good.
  5. Yeah cycling has been pretty terrible in terms of Youth Olympics since 2010. There's no need for combined/mixed events. They can easily have boys and girls events. 16 for BMX (plus the 9 for freestyle), 16 for mountain bike and 24 for road, it's not that difficult
  6. If there is one place where a referendum on the Olympics can pass it would be Canada. If it fails here the IOC pretty much needs to change its stance on the type of control hosts can have (smaller stadiums, large hosting area, sport/event choices etc.)
  7. At this point I just want them to release the qualification document. Same with canoe sprint. Athletics is on thin ice by not releasing their qualification times, making their qualification document useless and don't get me started about FIBA not updating their document after changing the women's qualification.
  8. I suggest we take all those now extra athlete quotas and use it in other sports. Maybe we can get a proper baseball/softball and karate events.
  9. Maybe that will be the push needed for pressure sensitive technology in race walking
  10. I wonder what exception performances is for the IAAF is it the A Standard with a fancy name or will it be even harder?
  11. They went even with the United States, so don't worry too much. Their depth may be an issue.
  12. Nigeria still had to go through Turkey to get to this position. It's a big win for them and the region.
  13. Given their performance in the group stage a victory over Greece was very possible. It'll be interesting if they can keep this form in Tokyo.
  14. Does anyone know how continental championships work? I'm trying to create an athlete database. Do they ignore sailors from other continents or does a sailor from Europe get to be the North American champion?
  15. Looks like Canada recovered. That or France is throwing the game so they could have a better chance at reaching the semi-finals.
  16. Yeah, it's been pretty bad for Canada, I thought we may have had an advantage due to the location, but I imagine a lot of our riders are also based in Europe since that's where most of the high level competition happens.
  17. At this rate Canada will be lucky to just making it to the next round
  18. How about a marathon relay where each member runs 1km in their sport's uniform (plus shoes for swimmers/divers etc), each team must include at least 20 sports.
  19. Yeah, the competition is close enough in the Americas for both Canada and the United States not to be guaranteed a spot, though they'll be the heavy favourites. It may make the Nations Cup more interesting.
  20. Will Longines have a team result page after this is over?
  21. Though that may not be good for them... in pole position.
  22. vs for the final spot... I really thought they were out of it earlier.
  23. Not a good run by the US, looks like it's up to Canada to qualify
  24. Canada has a very outside chance, not only does it have a large deficit, but it needs to leapfrog a handful of nations.
