  1. Canada 4th in women's 400m hurdles, no medal in athletics for us...
  2. is in a good position to win a medal in men's combined cycling. Currently second with one event to go.
  3. If those hold up Canada and Argentina will be quite excited along with NORCECA and CSV, hoping their respective nation qualifies.
  4. Bolivia was lucky to defeat Thailand in the group stage to reach this level. It's unlikely they would have won a medal between the four remaining teams. Portugal really liked that the Youth Olympics decided to add beach handball and futsal over handball and football.
  5. Canada still has a few more medal opportunities though it looks like we'll finish without gold for the second games in a row. We should still win the most medals out of nations without a gold medal (especially if Brazil wins gold in futsal)
  6. Yeah Spain was better, the British was good though
  7. Nice score from Spain, might be enough for bronze
  8. They use to be all combined, but I think the BMX athletes complained because there was no reason to include a BMX rider in the team due to the road race.
  9. Too bad cycling isn't separate, Luxembourg could have won medals. Hopefully the mountain biking athlete doesn't weigh him down too badly.
  10. Canada lost to Algeria in wrestling, likely no medal today.
  11. Massive 218 C&J for Iran to win gold in weightlifting
  12. Excited for Olympic qualification events to get started after a month break. Can't wait to start blogging again
  13. 5 days while possible is pretty intense for weightlifting, a 7 day program is more realistic. Not sure why they need 10 days. A lot of the sports using "generic indoor venues" are already doubling up and to squeeze a third sport is quite difficult. Still, looking at the venues for Rio and Tokyo you could easily knock off 2 stadiums. I don't think a third week will increase operational costs that much, especially when you consider that it would decrease the number of stadiums needed.
  14. Timing becomes a bit of an issue. Extending the Olympics to a third week would help quite a bit
  15. I think a second boat can compete at the Olympics, but the athlete has to qualify in a different event. I asked the ICF for clarification.
  16. Sprint canoeing is always so complicated (especially reallocation) and they rarely tell us who is qualified. So it looks like a nation will be able to compete with two boats in the same event. Australia/New Zealand will need at least one (or two if they other qualified) other Oceania nations to compete in order to gain continental quotas.
  17. The squads are made based on the ranking from the individual events
