  1. Cuba was the big winner from this championships. Not totally unexpected, they only had one quota going into the event and typically they are one of the strongest nations in shooting after the United States
  2. What happened to Keith Sanderson? He's gone 1/10 in the final so far.
  3. Women's epee, pool round is completed. Joining already advanced are Chile with a good performance to grab the third seed. Looks like her Pan American Games performance was not a fluke. On the other side, Paraguay despite having a chance to win the quota, just barely made it to the elimination round.
  4. No stopping the train today. Only Georgia has qualified so far and that's because they weren't on their half of the bracket.
  5. For him, it would be judo. All he needs to do is literally show up to one event which awards points and he will qualify to the Olympics. This is assuming no more Pacific nations decide they too would like a free quota.
  6. In the men's sabre, got a bye into the elimination round. Joining him are
  7. Nations advancing to the women's foil elimination round Top ranked Brazil lost three times in the pool. Despite going into the competition as the big favourites, they are now seeded 8th.
  8. Men's epee pool round is complete. Received a bye to the elimination stage Advanced to the elimination stage (in order) The big winner is the athlete from Jamaica who finished undefeated in his pool. Of course the top seed will be a lot harder.
  9. Officially, the IOC/FIE doesn't count the fourth "alternate" athlete as part of their official quota.
  10. Through the tripartite quota, but I would prefer if other people get it. He's also eligible to get a taekwondo tripartite quota.
  11. Oddly, New Zealand doesn't have a nomination criteria for taekwondo. Historically, they have been selected. In general, New Zealand wants a top 16 finish with the potential of finishing in the top 8 which taekwondo fulfills
  12. I thought the United States would take 3-4 quotas, but at best than can only win one. There's still the world qualifiers starting next week, but if they repeat their performance they may leave empty handed. It's not like another nation is having a great performance, the six quotas awarded have been awarded to different nations.
  13. The IOC will find someone to run the 100m if it comes down to it. They are pretty big on ensuring participation for all nations. The other option is for the tripartite committee to give one of the taekwondo quotas (women's -49kg or -57kg) to Somalia. With that said, taekwondo quotas are quite competitive, but their hand might be forced (kind of like with Liechtenstein).
  14. I mean it was quite clear that Kharun wanted to swim for the United States, but the whole citizenship issue forced his hand. Three years is a long time waiting for a change though so he might reconsider.
  15. Kim Minseop might be the logical choice out of the options listed
  16. She might not win gold, but a medal is quite possible. She's currently 3rd in the rankings
  17. Here is the selection criteria As per World Aquatics, Canada can nominate a maximum of 26 male and 26 female athletes. Priority 1: Finish in the top 2 and achieve the OQT at the event. Priority 2: Finish in the top 4 in the 100m and 200m freestyle events to compete in the relays. Priority 3: Winners of the 100m backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly to compete in the relays. Priority 4: Additional 100m and 200m freestyle or 100m medley athletes to compete in the relays (based on director's recommendation) Priority 5: Swimmers who have achieved the OQT during the qualification period (March 1, 2023 - June 23, 2024) and finished in the top 2 Priority 6: Swimmers who have achieved the OCT during the qualification period, won the event and finished within 1% if their fastest time will be provisionally nominated pending World Aquatics invitation.
  18. Excuse me, we club our baby seals, not shoot them
  19. Has the IOC endorsed a new federation yet?
  20. - 2nd - 1st Chile with the quota. United States still with no men's 10m air pistol
  21. - 3rd v for the quota. Chile with a huge lead though.
