  1. Same thing happened to in Margaret Thatcher's time. Everyone had been lying about the economy for decades, but even now she still gets the blame because she started to tell the truth.
  2. The difference is that Milei is being honest about the mess that Argentina is in, whereas the Peronists have been lying for decades.
  3. Also a big week of cyclo-cross! Van der Poel & Tom Pidcock both involved again.
  4. Also, it's not Christmas in the Orthodox lands, so a full programme of & cross country & biathlon.
  5. Whole pile of traditional pre-Xmas skiing events.
  6. Biathlete Lægreid banned from mass start after rifle incident (msn.com)
  7. Guess so. It’s basically a way to force everyone to develop a women’s double.
  8. And another! Silver - Kirsty Muir - Ski Big Air. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-sports/67739791
  9. Was watching all day yesterday & still did not have time for bobsleigh!
  10. Is this our greatest winter sports weekend ever? It must surely be. Silver for Andrew Musgrave in the Trondheim Skiathlon.
  11. The BBC think Trondheim is in . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-sports/67737757
  12. Best thing is that his sister Posy was on Comms for Eurosport! Best day since cyclist Magnus Bäckstedt commented on his daughter Zoe winning the Junior World Championsips.
  13. Spectacular meltdown at transition for Bergane. Think the judges took pity on her, in triathlon would have been a DQF because her old skis ran away & blocked the piste!
  14. Had a Bulgarian friend & colleague. His father is a Policeman in . He was adamant that this was “de Tsiganeurfraude” more than anything.
  15. According to Eurosport, speed skier Breezy Johnson is in trouble over the drug-testing whereabouts rules & can’t compete until that is all sorted out.
  16. No, the young freestylers usually do get a bit of media coverage here. But certainly someone like Andrew Musgrave does not get much coverage.
  17. And in fact Mia Brookes has won the Snowboard Big Air overall! Didn’t get any golds, but a silver, 2 bronzes & fifth won it on consistency. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-sports/67733258
  18. Seems a bit odd, but the Snowboard Big Air World Cup is already over! Obviously they’ve decided to split Big Air & Slopestyle into two mini-seasons. Anyway Mia Brookes wins! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-sports/67733258
  19. Used to be the default back in the early days. Suppose it depends on the particular piste.
  20. Plenty medals today! Gold - Matt Weston - skeleton Bronze - Tabitha Stoecker - skeleton Bronze - Mia Brookes - snowboard big air Bronze - Zoe Atkins - Ski Halfpipe.
  21. Unusual DQF today - Kaspar Moen Flatla forgot to put his transponder on! Bet the coach will not be happy.
  22. Big derby game in England tomorrow is Ipswich v Norwich. Very unusual in that most of their fans come from small villages and each county only has one professional team, so it is effectively Suffolk (Ipswich) v Norfolk (Norwich). Back in post-Roman times, this was the Kingdom of East Anglia & in pre-Roman times it was the land of the Icenii, who famously once beat the Romans in a battle (but not the war, of course). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67681322
  23. Ouch! One of the somehow managed 5 penalty loops on one leg!
  24. Was robbed of her career by the overwhelming presence of intersex athletes in her event. And of course when she complained about it she was bullied into silence by the Twitter mob. Let's hope she's the last woman to be treated that way.
