intoronto reacted to Vektor in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Team Sports Early Qualification Predictions
I wanted to do this for the team sports, even if it's very early. I am excluding smaller versions of the same team sport (beach volley, 3x3 basket).
First column is for the teams that are returning after Tokyo. Second column is for the teams that gained a quota. Third column is for the teams that qualified for Tokyo and currently don't have a quota. My aim with this is to track how each nation is doing in team sports compared to Tokyo. For now it mostly just shows the French dominance until we will get to the OQTs.

Keep an eye out on Craig Thorne, a 110m hurdler. Hit a time of 13.47 PB today at the NACAC's (but was later disqualified). It seems like his timing is improving with each race.

The Canadian women's water polo team beat Greece in a PSO. They are going to need to work hard before Doha 2024

I'm proud of the fact that the men's 4x200m relay took 8 seconds off their time from last year to this year, they didn't make the final but like from one year to the next it is an impressive drop. Should be in the mix for Olympic Qualification

It's crazy how much a single wall can make such a difference for MacNeil between the 50 and 100 fly races

intoronto reacted to vinipereira in Pan American Games 2023
In Brazil, a famous YouTube channel (Cazé TV) and Canal Olímpico do Brasil will broadcast the event, which is great since both are free.
It will be the first PanAm Games to be broadcast in streaming only (I don't think SporTV has any interest but who knows).

A very realistic prediction, thanks for that!
Marit Bouwmeester medals in swimming? Maybe when her boat capsizes and she quickly swims back!

Totally ridiculous prediction for Netherlands again. As we see in the table of @De_Gambassi, the Netherlands is heavily overestimated again, just like in Tokyo. The Netherlands is king of sport in pre and post Olympic years. Not in Olympic years.
When Gracenote is 33% off again, we will win 28 medals. Maybe 5-6 golds, when we are lucky. That's far more realistic.
Teamsprint trackcycling will go to Australia.
Women's time trial: Van Dijk is pregnant as hell.
Open water swimming: van Rouwendaal won a lot in the past, but there are many good swimmers now (Beck, Grimes).
Horsejumping ??? Sweden wins all the Championships and Nations Cups, so it's strange to predict Netherlands.
Road cycling: Annemiek van Vleuten retires after this season.
Bol. Where is Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone?
Anyway, it's just a Gracenote prediction.

At least now we for sure where FIE stands. They stand with their Russian overlords. Throw them into the trash with AIBA.

intoronto reacted to Vektor in Fencing FIE World Championships 2023
This is insane, Smirnova is sitting on the piste. The competition is haulted on the red piste for 20 minutes now... FIE are a bunch of fucking clowns. IOC should take notice, this is the kind of drama you don't want at the Olympic Games. For the love of God, DO NOT LET RUSSIANS COMPETE. We don't need this in Paris.

Biathlon QS, looks like its pretty much the same as Beijing
Figure skating, each singles events with a reduction of one spot (30 to 29) from Beijing.
