  4. Yep Thanks for the correction
  5. Pool A Germany Poland Ukraine Tunisia Pool B Canada Lithuania Czech Republic Chile Pool C Spain Japan Egypt Mongolia Pool D Hungary Netherlands Italy Israel Should be between all of the top two in pools B/C/D for the three quotas. will start as marginal favourites though (Actually, for Japan it depends on if Emura can recover from the injury she suffered in Utsunomiya in time) Edit: No Emura, so I’d remove Japan from that list, and even put them below Lithuania, Hungary, Netherlands, and maybe even Poland.

  11. Just took a look at the Maple Volley’s Instagram story, it leaked the Week 1 roster for Men’s VNL (only I had to go back multiple times and watch it to figure it out) Ryley Barnes Nicholas Hoag Brodie Hofer Eric Loepkky Stephen Maar Danny Demyanenko Pearson Eshenko Fynn McCarthy Jordan Schnitzer Lucas Van Berkel Landon Currie Justin Lui Luke Herr Brett Walsh Arthur Szwarc Xander Ketrzynski

  13. Here’s a simulation of my qualifying projections for Canada (in sports where the qualification period isn’t yet over, or we have a chance at reallocation) As a reminder we’ve already qualified 251 athletes. Since I have all of our qualifications on first page, I’ll focus on where we can add to our numbers in the upcoming months. Athletics We’ve already qualified 27 athletes, so I’ll go with another 25. Surfing Cody Young is 2nd on the reserves list in men’s shortboard for Paris. Fencing If all eight host nation quotas don’t get awarded to tripartite NOCs, Ruien Xiao is 2nd on the reserves list (women’s epee) through Olympic Ranking points. Weightlifting Boady Santavy is 2nd on the reserves list in men’s 89kg for Paris. Boxing McKenzie Wright (women’s 50kg), and Scarlett Delgado (women’s 54kg) both have chances to qualify through the second Olympic Qualifying Tournament. BMX Racing Likely that Molly Simpson has done enough to secure a quota for Canada through the Olympic Rankings. Volleyball Canada is 22 world ranking points behind the Netherlands for the final Olympic quota heading into VNL. Mountain Biking Canada should get men’s and women’s quotas through the Olympic Rankings. Table Tennis Mo Zhang will be the favourite at the North American Qualification Tournament, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her lose to Yadira Silva. 3x3 Basketball Women’s and men’s teams will both have chances in Debrecen at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Hopefully the women can get it done this time around. Triathlon Two men’s, and one women’s quota look safe through the Olympic Ranking. Jamnicky and Kretz will try to move up on points in order to have Canada qualify for the mixed team event. Golf Should be two men and two women through the Olympic Rankings. Tennis One quota in men’s singles (FAA), one quota in women’s singles (Fernandez), and one quota in doubles (Dabrowski) through the Olympic Rankings. Maybe a couple of Raonic/Shapo/Andresscu will join them through PR? Skateboarding Hopefully three men’s street quotas, and one women’s park quota through the Olympic Qualifier Series. Breaking One or two women’s quotas (I don’t follow breaking sorry) through the Olympic Qualifier Series. Rowing Men’s eight and women’s four both have chances through the Final Qualification Regatta. Wrestling Chance for quotas in women’s 53/68kg through the Final Qualification Tournament. Swimming Somewhere between 25-30 athletes through the Canadian Olympic Swim Trials. Judo 5-6 judoka are in qualifying positions in the Olympic Rankings currently. Rugby 7s I’d give them like a 5% chance at best, but our men’s team might be able to spring a surprise at the Final Qualifcation Tournament. Sport Climbing Oscar Bautrand finished 10th in men’s boulder the World Cup in Salt Lake City last week. And of course, Tokyo 2020 Olympians Alannah Yip and Sean McColl will also be at the Olympic Qualifier Series. But we could just as easily see none qualify.
  14. Entries for Götzis (May 18-19) are now out. No LePage, or any Canadian heptathletes, but reigning Olympic champion Damian Warner will be competing in the decathlon. Hoping for at least 8800 points at this point of the season. If you compare his decathlon results from 2021, you’ll probably want it to be even better than that though, he recorded 8995 points at this event on route to his 9018 points at the Ariake Stadium. Edit: There’s been entry lists going around but the organizers of Gotzis have said it didn’t come from them so I’m not sure. Hopefully we’ll have a couple more athletes.
  15. Entries are out for the Doha Diamond League, which is on May 10. Kieran Lumb will attempt to breach the OQS of 3:33.50 in the men’s 1500m (Although his PB is about a second off, his SB is more than ten seconds off, so it doesn’t seem likely), while Aaron Brown will be racing in the men’s 200m. Brown ran really well during the World Athletics Relays, so I’m hoping for sub 20.10.
  16. Canadian roster for Week 1 of Women’s VNL is now out. Brie O’Reilly (formerly King) Courtney Baker Emily Maglio Jazmine White Alicia Ogoms Layne Van Buskirk Alexa Gray Hillary Howe Andrea Mitrovic Vicky Savard Kiera Van Ryk Shainah Joseph Julia Murmann Kacey Jost
  17. roster for Week 1 Brie O’Reilly (formerly King) Courtney Baker Emily Maglio Jazmine White Alicia Ogoms Layne Van Buskirk Alexa Gray Hillary Howe Andrea Mitrovic Vicky Savard Kiera Van Ryk Shainah Joseph Julia Murmann Kacey Jost No Jenn Cross.
  18. They were medal contenders before lol. After the 2022/2023 Worlds (in which they placed 4th both times), I knew it wasn’t a fluke.
  19. Today’s Splits Mixed 4x400m (3:14.66, for 3rd) Michael Roth (47.02, 3rd fastest) Lauren Gale (50.98, 1st fastest) Callum Robinson (44.77, 3rd fastest) Madeleine Price (51.89, 4th fastest) Men’s 4x400m (3:03.29, for 5th) Myles Misner-Daley (46.51, 5th fastest) Marco Arop (45.56, 4th fastest) Ibrahim Ayorinde (45.64, 1st fastest) Jalon White (45.58, 6th fastest) Women’s 4x100m (43.09, for 7th) Sade McCreath (11.64, 3rd fastest) Marie-Eloise Leclair (10.55, 6th fastest) Audrey Leduc (10.29, 1st fastest) Donna Ntambue (10.61, 7th fastest) Men’s 4x100m (37.89, for 2nd) Aaron Brown (10.45, 2nd fastest) Jerome Blake (9.12, 2nd fastest) Brendon Rodney (9.36, 4th fastest) Andre DeGrasse (8.96, 2nd fastest) Women’s 4x400m (3:25.17, for 3rd) Zoe Sherar (51.78, 4th fastest) Aiyanna Stiverne (51.59, 5th fastest) Alyssa Marsh (51.65, 4th fastest) Kyra Constantine (50.15, 3rd fastest) Gale and Leduc starting to establish themselves as excellent relay options. Probably won’t qualify the mixed relay, but if we do Robinson would be a good option.
  20. “Not to be negative” Proceeds to be negative
