  1. Maybe I am underrating Italy… but yeah Sabonis will probably be the difference maker (assuming he wants to play for Lithuania at the OQT) should both of them advance to the final match.
  2. Wouldn’t count out Dominican Republic or Greece, but yeah those seem like the most likely options. Not Dominican Republic, I forgot they won’t have KAT.
  3. But wouldn’t you be happy even to make it to the Olympics? That’s a huge accomplishment, considering a few quality teams get left out every quad.
  4. I think you’re being way too pessimistic about your chances. In terms of talent, Lithuania is a level above Italy. But OK.
  5. Assuming we finish first or second in the group (not a guarantee but likely) we’d have a decent draw. First in Group A we’d likely face Australia/Germany (Australia is more likely, one of their key players Sam Kerr injured her ACL earlier this year and is unlikely to play) or Japan/Brazil (maybe even Nigeria, they aren’t a half bad team) in the quarterfinals, followed by a potential encounter with Spain in the semifinals. Second in Group B we’d likely face Germany or Australia in the quarterfinals, followed by a potential encounter with the United States in the semifinals. Essentially, getting first in our group means we’d have an easier quarterfinal followed by a very difficult semifinal. Getting second in our means we have a tougher quarterfinal, but a slightly easier semifinal.
  6. Maybe, but they’re not one of the favoured teams. Form can change between now and Milano-Cortina 2026 obviously, but right now Sweden, Canada, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, and potentially United States (could switch with Italy) would all be favoured over them. After those seven teams Denmark and Norway would be the only other teams that have a chance although those are long shots at the moment (Rørvik’s silver last year was a fluke IMO)
  7. Draw 13 Results 8 - 5 5 - 6 8 - 6 6 - 8 Scotland beating Switzerland has to be the biggest upset of the event by far.
  8. That’s what they said when I was listening to the draw. So unless they’ve made a mistake, I’m pretty sure.
  9. I’m not sure that’s right Ben. Those teams aren’t even playing each other
  10. Nigeria v. South Africa for CAF 1, and Morocco v. Zambia for CAF 2.
  11. Match schedule and draw for the women’s football tournament is now out. Canada will take on New Zealand on July 25 at 9:00 PST/12:00 EST, France on July 28 at 13:00 PST/17:00 EST, and Colombia on July 31 at 13:00 PST/17:00 EST.
  12. 1:57.06 PB for Mary-Sophie Harvey in the women’s 200m freestyle!
  13. Olympic Draw Group A France (A1) Canada (A3) Colombia (A2) New Zealand (A4) Group B United States (B1) Germany (B3) Australia (B4) CAF 2 (B2) Group C Spain (C1) Japan (C2) Brazil (C4) CAF 1 (C3)
  14. Olympic Draw Group A France (A1) New Zealand (A4) United States (A2) AFC-CAF Playoff (A3) Group B Argentina (B1) Morocco (B2) AFC 3 (B3) Ukraine (B4) Group C AFC 2 (C1) Spain (C2) Egypt (C3) Dominican Republic (C4) Group D AFC 1 (D1) Paraguay (D2) Mali (D3) Israel (D4)
  15. Draw 12 Results 11 - 4 7 - 2 8 - 7 10 - 5 Team Constantini starting to insert themselves into the Milano-Cortina 2026 medal conversation. Team Hasselborg starting to heat up with five wins in a row after starting 1-3!

  17. Let’s go for the title Benjamin!!
  18. I’m not going to be watching a single second of it as every time I try to watch an event (which is not very often mind you) I fall asleep (figure skating is probably my least favourite winter Olympic sport), but go
  19. I’m starting to think you have something against Canada. Between this and saying that the Canadian men have no chance at an Olympic medal in men’s basketball one would wonder. Sure, but the same thing could be said for pretty much all countries bar the United States and China. Australia has an even easier path to continental quotas than Canada would and I don’t see you complaining about them. So does Egypt. I wouldn’t disagree with you on the first sentence. Key word “if”, Canada isn’t in Europe and never will be so…

  22. Forgot about Lithuania, I’d replace them with Puerto Rico
  23. Olympic pools for our men’s and women’s basketball teams are now out. Time-slots for matches are still TBD. Canadian women will open their Olympic campaign against host-nation France on July 29, before encounters against Australia on August 1 and Nigeria on August 4. Canadian men will start off against the winner of OQT Greece on July 27, before encounters against Australia on July 30 and the winner of OQT Spain on August 2.
  24. Realistically speaking only 8 of those teams have a realistic chance at actually qualifying. Spain in OQT Spain, Montenegro/Latvia in OQT Latvia, Slovenia/Greece/ Dominican Republic in OQT Greece, and Italy/Lithuania in OQT Puerto Rico.
