  1. @heywooduYou missed the biggest drama of Roland Garros so far? :mumble:

:CZE Karolina Muchova beats Aryna Sabalenka in the first women's semi-final. Sabalenka led 5-2 in the decider but started making crazy UE.

Meanwhile in the girls tournament we have 3 Russians and :PER in the semi-finals. The Peruvian had to defend MP from another Russian and only won in third-set Super TB.

Like the sound of this one, doesn’t seem to require all those hours of training.

Well, in Polish the sport is called "skoki do wody" which means "jumping into the water". Diving means underwater swimming i.e. scuba diving ;)

  3. This is the daily schedule of events (taken from a Polish site, used google translate not to type everything manually :p )

  4. The Chinese corruption scandal appears to be settled...

:CHN Liang Wenbo and Li Hang banned for life in professional snooker.

Yan Bingtao banned for 5 years (until 2027) and Zhao Xintong banned until Septemer 1st, 2024.

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/snooker/65641122

Pretty much in between the two other high-profile cases from recent memory (Quinten Hann banned for 8 years, never came back & Stephen Lee currently banned for 12 years and I doubt he comes back given his age).

  5. I suspect it means LIV golfers will be eligible for Olympics. This was the only way since majors allowed these players to compete and the Ryder Cup would be a no-win for Europe if the best Americans would be missing (I'm not sure if LIV Americans would be banned outright but I heard that wouldn't be the case?). Overall LIV totally forced the PGA changes after they lost the monopoly on the sport (European Tour was long playing second fiddle anyway). Even forcing players to attend certain tournaments at least once in a four year span is gone from next PGA season IIRC.

Haha yes it’s about the dissolution of the Kalmar Union :d

Yeah, quite frankly I never knew when it happened without checking least of all it's national holiday in Sweden :p Though I remember Denmark used to be the "stronger" part of the Union at first

Sweden celebrates 500 years as an independent country today!  :wSWE:

It’s also Sweden National Day today June 6th. Congratulations to all Swedes.

It's the dissolution date of the Kalmar Union? :mumble:

Not like Poland had much joy with Sweden in the 16th century (outside from having a Swedish dynasty as Kings ;) ).

  8. Since even tournament director Amelie Mauresmo said last year women's matches aren't bringing enough revenue, not much will change going forward. After Sabalenka/Stephens was announced as the night match on Chatrier the other day several tickets were returned for re-sale. You just ain't gonna force people to pay and watch women's match if they don't think it will be competitive/exciting enough.

  9. It was a ball girl. SST & Bouzkova pressed the umpire to DQ Kato/Sutjiadi after they were initially only given a warning. Weak stuff from SST/Bouzkova who didn't even bother to check with the ball girl, instead they argued the match should be over. Expect some booing in their next doubles match.

  10. FC Barcelona wins the women's Champions League 3-2 over VFL Wolfsburg in the final. Barcelona came from 0-2 half-time deficit.

:POL Ewa Pajor who scored the first goal for Wolfsburg was the top scorer of the competition (9 goals in 11 matches) ;)

  11. :UKR Elina Svitolina beats Anna Blinkova for the second time in six days - after the Strasbourg final this time she wins RG R3 2-6 6-2 7-5.

:BEL Elise Mertens completely destoyed :USA (3) Jessica Pegula 6-1 6-3.

    (2) Aryna Sabalenka beat Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2 6-2 and only conducted a private press conference for journalists allowed by the organizers so no political questions anymore.

  12. Yeah, the complete slander of Jokic's MVP awards in the last two years could backfire into the US media face in the next week. Now they have to talk about the Nuggets and usually say that "this is a boring team" as a compliment. No offense to Heat but I hope Nuggets win the title and force the media to bend over backwards to justify how this happened :p

  13. The China ban is over. WTA has finally released the post USO calendar and will host 6 tournaments in China (Guangzhou, Ningbo, Beijing, Zhengzhou, Nanchang & Zhuhai YEC). The Peng Shuai news drama is well and truly over and there was nobody who could replace the Chinese money.

  14. :SRB Olga Danilovic beats :ITA Jasmine Paolini in Round 2 and will return to Top 100 for the first time since October 2018. She basically did nothing since contracting COVID at the Tokyo OG but she just won the ITF 100k Villa de Madrid and her spike of form continues in Paris.
