I really do not understand why Polish does not go to this athletic team Championship. Ok European Games does not have good reputation. But itnis team Championship. I was in Bydhošť 5 years ago and there were full stadium. Maybe one of reason Is that it it 3 times in row in Poland and it Is time to change it and give it to sb else. Moreover I think great times of athletics in Poland Is over. It Is time for Italy

Bydgoszcz is in a complete different part of the country so it's not really the case of the same people (non)-attending. Like I said before the two reasons are:

    a) lack of promotion, I didn't realize athletics will be held in Chorzów until few days before EG and I live less than 20 kms from Chorzów itself

    b) EG started in the last week of school when most adults are still working and before the actual holiday period in Poland.

PS. It doesn't help Chorzów will host the Skolimowska Memorial on July 16th. I suspect there will be more people for that meeting than EG three weeks prior.

Who said, that people would come, when we reach Division 1.. Imagine having 4 years to promote this big event, that your country is hosting, that you should be proud of and then the first 3 days have a lower combined attendance then a single Ekstraklassa match.

I refuse to believe, that Poland, one of the biggest European sporting nations in my opinion, doesn't care one bit about this event. Even if you don't know karate, BMX, taekwondo etc. this is most likely the golden age for Polish athletics and they can get even 5000 people, let alone 50 000.

The promotion was sub-standard IMO. I don't know if people here even realized that the Euro Games will have multiple hosting venues and thought it will all happen in Kraków. The multi-location promotion was nowhere to be found and most media here only went gaga that ski jumping will be held in the summer alas even Kamil Stoch recently said he will only compete because the ski jumpers were forced to take part in this event (since it's held in Poland). Yeah, so much for the positive vibes.

The timing is something else, June is not a total holiday period here, school only ended today and most families plan their free time for July & August.

  3. For all the PGA-LIV merger/takeover hoopla Wyndham Clark winning US Open must be the most anonymous and low-key moment for years. There's literally nothing worth remembering from this tournament at all - aside that McIlroy's putting is horrendous as usual and it cost him another victory in the big picture.

Well, Kraków is a big city, so I guess those areas don't generally like the right-wing government

Kraków actually has a left-wing President from the former communist United Workers' Party. It's the biggest Polish city that still has a former communist as President (though technically he's indepedent).

We’re getting (watchable) streams of all the sports, and people are still complaining :p

The lack of commentators doesn’t annoy me too much. People on here always complain about the world feed commentators anyway. Y’all just miss your punching bags :p

Stuff like BMX never gets shown on TV here so they don't even have "experts" for it. The road cycling gets covered by former cyclists and two veteran journalists on Eurosport and standard sport journalists on TVP if neccessary.

It’s probably fine for the time being. Ski Jumping still enjoys higher participation then some of the more niche freestyle events cough *aerials* cough.

I'm just waiting for IOC to pull the mythical "new fans" attraction card in order to justify killing off ski jumping and nordic combined. Ice skateboarding would probably be urban enough to be viewed as better replacement - though technially slopestyle is skateboarding on skis already so maybe not.

In the near future WOG will probably be held in Saudi Arabia or somewhere in the Middle East and the funny thing is those sheiks could actually afford to build a completely useless ski jumping hill which would be used 3-4 times and then swiftly dismantled.

  7. Ski jumping is shrinking with every season. Finland and Czech Republic are dead in the sport and minnows will always be minnows. I'm not surprised team event has been cut down to duets, FIS has no idea how to inject life into this sport and the recent cutdown of team quota in World Cup is pure desperation hoping that minnows will suddenly score points if Top 6 nations will have fewer eligible athletes.

I wonder when ski jumping will be axed from the Olympics and replaced by breakdance on snow/ice?
