  1. Maturity counts for little when it comes to soloists, it's obvious teenagers have a bigger chance of better results before they grow up into adult shape. What next? You will forbid skaters from doing quads before a certain age? What if someone commits suicide out of frustration of not being able to compete? Becoming a stripper at age 21 rather than 19 will solve the fake issue ISU is trying to create here (as related to Alexandrovskaya's "second life")? Like really?
  2. Yeah, Russia is one country that still reigns supreme in figure skating. Just look at all the naturalized Russians competing for other nations. USA has sure given up on the Cold War in figure skating in the last decade or so. Once Simone Biles retires the same probably happens in gymnastics especially in wake of the Nassar scandal.
  3. I read this on a Polish website. Now I found an explanation and it's linked to Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya's death. A total overreaction indeed. Like people at age 25 can't commit suicides because they only participated in senior champs two years later than they could have. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1097741/isu-to-discuss-figure-skating-age-limit
  4. I read some news that ISU considers upping the minimal age for international senior championships from 15 to 17. Sigh. Like that will make all these female soloists extend their careers all of the sudden. No offense but ladies is the only category that provides international competitors at age 15-16 so I wonder what's up other than trying to hamper the Russian teenagers. It feels like even USA doesn't bring up prodigies like Kwan or Lipinski anymore (dare I say the US teens discovered they can break through in other disciplines and figure skating isn't considered truly elite in USA anymore)?
  5. One week later and Johnson loses a playoff to Jon Rahm at the BMW Championships. Apparently Rahm was given a one stroke penalty for picking up the ball in R3? I only watched the last round so I'm unsure what exactly happened?
  6. This might help but that's still a lot of extra work for you and I'm pretty sure someone will try to edit the results to gain extra points by simply picking the right set score at the very least. I'd leave it as it is - without the edits allowed - since this is opening a can of worms for no valid reason. The Paire/Granollers change was addressed early enough.
  7. @hckosiceThese wild cards can be given to non-Elite teams though? I believe even CCC was given once a wild card to Giro d'Italia IIRC (that was pre-BMC merger when CCC was still a truly Polish team by the roots) but former Giro winner Tonkov was a member of the team which probably made the whole thing easier.
  8. Sounds like a terrible idea tbh. Someone can edit completed matches from any day half-way through the order of play and claim her picked the right winner straight away. Does @Wumo really want to compare when edits were made to when matches were finished to expose the fraud? I picked Kerber to beat Tomljanovic 2-1 in sets. What stops me from editing the result to 2-0 and claiming the extra point for the game?
  9. Weren't like Cofidis out of the Grand Tours for a while? So they lost their top UCI license or whatever that's called and I thought they simply disbanded in the mean time
  10. Astana is a completely new team, they were founded a little over 10 years ago. That's nothing in pro cycling terms. Isn't like Movistar the former Banesto - of Miguel Indurain and Pedro Delgado fame? You probably weren't born back then yet but I remember these guys or someone like Armand de las Cuevas who also was a Banesto rider IIRC.
  11. Kerber beats Tomljanovic 64 64. Not bad to shake off the rust but Tomljanovic gave up some free UE as usual.
  12. Oh yeah, I forgot about these guys. Not gonna lie, I still remenber Banesto, Kelme and ONCE as the top teams so I'm kinda behind schedule with all the sponsor changes and which "new" team is actually an "old" team with a new sponsor. @hckosice seems to imply Cofidis had some name changes in the last decade? Lotto remained a fixture for over 20 years as well but they're gone now, right? Jumbo-Visma is more Rabobank or more Lotto?
  13. I'm surprised they still exist under this name given all the frequent sponsor changes in cycling. I believe Francaise de Jeux is only other team that has kept the same name for more than a decade?
  14. Jaguars have waived RB Leonard Fournette today. They also traded the disgruntled DE Yannick Ngakoue to Vikings over the weekend. It's gonna be a miracle if they won't end up with the #1 overall pick in next year's draft. Even they can't screw this tank up!
  15. And we're off. Tomljanovic vs Kerber has started
  16. 55 minutes of typing all the names! That took longer than I expected and I didn't have to print the flags. I was afraid I ain't gonna make it on time But hey, it's tennis so I expect to finish higher in this game than Tour de France

  18. Różnicki won gold so yeah, you can watch him more closely now. Rain has come down hard in the last hour - men's shot put is ruined by it, they're using leaf blower to clear water from the circle
  19. Dixon wins ahead of Sato this time. Pato O'Ward led the most laps but got jumped by Dixon on the last stop and then passed by Sato on fresher tires. Ferrucci had a Top 5 run going but had a terrible last stop and finished 16th
  20. Clusterfuck at the start of Gateway 1 race. Field bunched up, Palou jumped and hit the brakes then Askew triggered a pile-up that took & Rossi, Andretti, Veach and Carpenter out.
  21. Oh, well. Belarus usually doesn't get a lot of press coverage even considering their top athlete of the last decade or so
  22. Biathlon ain't a popular thing in Serbia but this is old news by anyone's standards. This news is like 4 years old. http://www.biathlon.pl/aktualnosci/5236/domraczewa-podporucznikiem-kgb.html Even fucking Guardian run a major story on this: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/feb/22/former-kgb-agent-darya-domracheva-wins-biathlon-gold-medal-at-winter-olympics Domrachava stopped being a KGB member in June 2014 according to all these accounts. Even her wikipedia page has this info listed.
  23. No surprise. I wonder if they know Soviet Union has ceased to exist? I mean they still have the KGB name in operation after all those years. Even Russia has changed that name to FSB (even though that's the same thing)
  24. TVP Sport showing some live eventing from Strzegom. Ingrid Klimke won the dressage part (and that's like the only name I know from the list on the screen ).
  25. Azarenka and Konta weren't even aware Osaka "boycotted" her semi-final I guess Azarenka is occupied with what happens in Belarus right now but Konta's excuse is pretty woeful. Then again what can we expect from an ethinic Hungarian born in Australia who spend majority of her 'British' career training in Spain? https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/aug/28/naomi-osaka-stresses-mertens-azarenka-final-cincinnati-open-konta
