  1. To win any election you need money though. Most of the monarchies in the world have been either overthrown or serve as ceremonial puppets anyway. Most political parties have learned how to dominate the system, USA has seen zero options beyond Dems and GOP for what, 160 years? Senate and Congress don't have even ONE member from outside of these two parties since how long? Politicians have truly learned how to use democracy into their own favor hence we have all these political families and all that nonsense. There is no real choice in most democracies anyway. You vote for the same two parties over and over again. The communists regimes have had one ruling party, the oh-so ideal democracy has two in most cases. That is some upgrade indeed Call me again if Libertarian Party votes just one member of the Congress! I suspect that won't happen in the next 50 years and beyond
  2. Cambridge published some data showing how democracy is losing fans all over the world. Unsurprisingly democracy is most popular in the wealthiest countries in the world like Norway, Switzerland, Denmark & Netherlands (all in Top 11 of GDP per capita). https://www.bbc.com/news/education-51281722
  3. Daytona 500 in 2019 had the fewest TV viewers since 1979 when the race was first broadcasted live start-to-finish. The final number was 9.17 million. Indianapolis 500 had 6.7 million TV viewers in first year on NBC which is actually 11% increase from 2018 when it was last aired on ABC. In fact it was the most-watched sporting event on NBC since the NFL playoff game. IndyCar is going up again and it will soon surpass NASCAR to where it was before the open-wheel split. Moreover the retirements of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon further sinks NASCAR in viewership numbers, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are not Dale Jr and Gordon to cover for the losses. 2019 Italian F1 Grand Prix had 112 million viewers, the highest of any F1 race since 2016. Four F1 races in total exceeded 100m viewers worldwide and 14 had over 90m. The average was 91.5 million which is ten times more than Daytona 500.
  4. Jan Gunka has some impressive ski speed amomg his peers. Poland should be a major relay favorite 12 months from now. Among the medallists there were 8 guys born in 2001 and one in 2002. The Polish team was 2x 2002 and 1x 2003.
  5. Oeberg vs Vittozzi for the win. Hojnisz with a Top 5 chance!
  6. Yule wins... again. Braathen ties Kristoffersen for 4th. Still a great day for him.
  7. Tomasz Sikora posted on twitter it's some "illness". With World Champs two weeks away guess she wanted to take a break. I wonder if she will be 100% in Antholz though?
  8. Fourcade looks cooked. Might fall off the podium.
  9. Fillon Mallet has 7 secs lead over MF and 17 over JTB. Let's see if he finally breaks the duck.
  10. Reminds me of the old saying from Mario Andretti "If you have everything under control it means you're not driving fast enough". Vonn's risky style was the main reason she won so many races. Sure, the injuries must be accounted for but if you pick safety over risk that means the results will simply go away. If Stuhec has a mental block because of the injuries then she's not gonna win a single race anymore IMO.
  11. Atle Lie McGrath with #66 pushes Popov out of the second run.
  12. Anton Tremmel into 7th with bib #50. 16 guys within one second of the leader. Myhrer down to 34th already and obviously out.
  13. This post didn't age well French men's team must be extremely short on talent. I mean vets like Grange & Lizeroux are still here and hell, Lizeroux competed with Amiez Sr already and that was before the JP Vidal short-lived burst.
  14. I see one Steven Amiez making his WC debut with bib #72. Guess that's Sebastien's son?
  15. Tina Maze's magic skis are gone? It was no secret she used Maze's custom made skis once Tina retired. If she lost access to those (because why would Stoeckli continue to put so much effort since Stuhec isn't an all-arounder like Maze was) that explains it all IMO.
  16. This was a speed weekend only by name. DH was a glorified Super G with giant slalom sections. I've never seen such nonsense. Rosa Khutor and Garmisch will be true speed events.
  17. Another big mistake for Vlhova at the bottom and only 6th instead of podium.
  18. Pretty much. They changed the original Chase system like three times in 10 years anyway. They should call it the Matt Kenseth rule. It didn't help back in 2003 Ryan Newman had most pole and wins and still couldn't score points than Kenseth who had one win all season
  19. Ledecka DNS. Guess she didn't bother with the GS crap.
