  1. Sam Horsfield and Scottie Scheffler are out of US Open after testing positive for COVID so @hckosice 's favorite Rory Sabbatini & Branden Grace come in as replacements.
  2. Maybe if tennis was played at Winter OG then Thiem wouldn't be so quick to ignore it

  4. Thiem wins US Open on one leg. Zverev choked a 2-0 set lead. Of course he did.
  5. Well, Simone Hauswald had better results than Simone Denkinger so maybe you're onto something
  6. Well, 150 miles is not much in large countries like China or USA but it's too much in Poland (which is like 4 times smaller than the state of Texas IIRC)
  7. We couldn't build an indoor speed skating arena for like 5-6 years on the heels of Olympic medals so we're not gonna build a velodrome near Krakow Outside of three velodromes build before WWII we only have ONE modern velodrome in Pruszkow. Yeah, it's too far away from Krakow (150 miles) to bother with it at European Games.
  8. Some upsets in the early W1 games. The "tanking" Jaguars beat the Colts and I have no idea how the Lions managed to blow a 23-6 lead versus Mitchell fuckin Trubisky-led offense. Also Redskins.. ahem.. WSH Football Team beat the Eagles. Raiders beat Panthers on the road, our defense was garbage but the Panthers D was somehow even worse
  9. Second red flag after Stroll wrecked hard at Arrabiatta 2. Still 15 laps left to complete this mayhem
  10. LeClerc is dog slow on the main straight. To think Enzo Ferrari said aerodynamics is for people who can't build engines...
  11. Bottas jammed the pack in classic IndyCar fashion. This is what happens when the leader slows everyone down and the back of the pack takes off.
  12. Old fashioned melee with cars beached in gravel. Thank God for MotoGP runs offs! Verstappen and Gasly out.
  13. Leaving the tabloid press... Franco Morbidelli wins at Misano but the Yamaha 1-2-3-4 goes nowhere after Quartararo had two falls in the race and Vinales was utterly useless. Bagnaia gets his first podium (after the Jerez nightmare) and Joan Mir passed both Rossi and Rins on the final lap to take 3rd. Dare I say this could be the result that gives Bagnaia the works Ducati deal alongside Miller (with Zarco moving to Pramac as Enea Bastianini was already announced at Avintia for 2021). Dovizioso who finished down in 8th leads the championship but let's be honest, Marquez would be pissing all over this field. Quartararo keeps choking even without #93 around him and Vinales does his best Pedrosa impression of looking not good enough to be a MotoGP champion anytime soon.
  14. Classic WTA. Osaka blows 4 BP to go 5-1 up and basically kill the show and 10 minutes later we're 4-3 and back on serve...
  15. Japanese people usually don't yell at anything and are mild-mannered (yeah, I know she lived most of her life in USA but the upbringing culture comes from the family). She didn't even lose her temper much when the whole stadium booed her during the Serena USO final.
  16. Azarenka wins first set 6-1 but since it's WTA I expect this to finish 7-5 in the third
  17. New York Post run the teleprompter story as well https://nypost.com/2020/09/11/biden-rep-dodges-question-about-whether-his-teleprompter-use/
  18. Even that transcription has changed over the years. First it was Alexei Mikhailichenko and now even the English wikipedia has him as Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko (which is more true to his Ukrainian ethnicity) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleksiy_Mykhaylychenko Also the Belarussian names are translated as "anaou" rather than the Russian "anov" The infamous Ivan Tikhon (hammer thrower) became Ivan Tsikhan over the years.
  19. The suffix would be longer than the name itself - imagine Li Na being Liova Na. It even looks bad on paper
  20. Yeah, I remember Matador Puchov from many moons ago. I suppose their place in the spotlight was even shorter than Artmedia Bratislava I always wondered about that name since I wasn't aware of bull fighting traditions in Czechoslovakia
  21. Yeah, I had that figured out. I suppose it's the same in Spanish were names are derived from male or female forms (hence matador and torrero with torreador being an incorrect word). Btw, does the club Matador Puchov still exist?
  22. @hckosice I thought the Cerna or Sucha comes from the adjective form (which might always end with 'y" in Czech like it usually does in Polish ). I mean there's a reason Jana Novotna wasn't Jana Novotnova
  23. We've had over 20 "official" Bonds plus two unofficial Casino Royales and Sean Connery's 'Thunderball' remake from 1983 (with Kim Basinger). So you can treat that as two hour per episode TV series already
  24. You should start with the classics, Connery and early Moore. 'Die Another Day' isn't exactly Top 10 Bond tbh
  25. Which one was it?
