  1. So something that has not happened before (with the current format) could play out for the first time. If defeats then both zones will have a total of 43 points, the tie-breaker is who is the champion. So the pan continental zone would get a sixth qualifier for next year's championship.
  2. No, needs 11 points, so any medal including a bronze is necessary. And just wow, none of us were talking and if they had won that nail biter against then they would be the ones sitting in the olympic spot waiting for
  3. very cool. some strange omissions from the list though and I don't understand adding Popovic from Croatia as being eligible.
  4. Pretty sure is already qualified. A lot of tie-breaking scenarios but they cannot finish the championships below can only have two of / / pass them in total points since they can only finish 8th or higher.
  5. and are both almost certain, which would leave one of or maybe even if they can win a playoff game or two. According to my calculations has a minimum of 13 points, 12, can't catch either and are likely to finish with 10 or 11 points, so could get really lucky and make the playoffs or finish with as low as 9 points.
  6. What about ? is in for sure because they have made the playoffs.
  7. the most recent update to the sprint standings has no change in the women's top four, the same four men, but with Filippov ahead of Klette now but Mayer of Austria very close.
  8. looks like access to the men's rankings they are generating is temporarily cut off. But this just showed up: https://www.fis-ski.com/inside-fis/general-fis-documents/olympic-winter-games-2026-copy-for-quota-links It appears to be copied from 2022 and the links don't work yet, but maybe soon.
  9. they (IIHF) would have to make some kind of exception to the rules because, "A player, who has previously participated in IIHF competition, can switch national eligibility (but only once in a player's life)" Additionally, it would be interesting to know when she submitted the request to change, it would have to have been at least two years before the Olympics start.
  10. What the sprint standings should actually be, with only people who can qualify: Mens: Lietha SUI 352, Drion du Chapois BEL 193, Klette NOR 151, Filippov AIN 138, with Canclini ITA 137, and Hoesch GER, 131 close behind. Womens: Alonso Rodriguez ESP 278, Paller GER 273, Murada ITA 212, Jagercikova SVK 193, with Hiemer AUT 185 and Matejovicova CZE 174 close behind.
  11. It seems like a really difficult sport to follow the qualification. Mostly because of the ISMF itself. They are painfully slow to publish results, and have errors all through them when they do. Their rules state that after 5 races you drop the worst result, but their standings don't do it. They say that their qualification period goes to December 21st, but there is no way to find out what the fall calendar will be so you can't know how many more races there will be.
  12. I am pretty sure the results of the world championships will change things significantly. Two guaranteed spots for teams and four guaranteed spots for individuals (I think) will take several that are ahead out of the mix.
  13. just wondering what the totals are like that you are using. I think there is 78 or so already qualified and then there is; Azerbaijan, Moldova, Jamaica, puerto rico, philippines, and morocco are solid bets. Then, virgin islands, san marino, venezuela are quite possible. Then long shots (who are competing) are Tunisia, Vietnam, Ghana, Cyprus, and Ecuador.
  14. The point is that the invite does not come with a guarantee of participation, they have to qualify someone first, so the headline is a non-sensical misunderstanding. They had one stspeedskater in the Asian Winter games, and one competitor ranked in the 60s in skeleton. With no alpine skiiers or x country skiiers it is hard to understand where the qualifier will come from.
  15. what sport? don't they need an athlete first?
  16. Not sure what you mean; there are more countries qualified for 2026 than at the same stage for 2022.
  17. oh I see, so because China were already allocated one quota during the final process it should go to someone else? That makes sense thanks.
  18. Looks great!! Do you think that China should get a second men's quota (Liu) ahead of the Korean quota though?
  19. I think Henri Rivers of Jamaica and Francis Ceccarelli of the Philippines are both very close. Could be others but I think those are the next most likely
  20. fortunately that is what is happening for the 2026 worlds, but not in time for the Olympics I imagine.
  21. Interesting list. Few things to fix though. First, it is not the 'best result' that counts, the continental or junior results only count if there is no world championship result. Likewise a grand prix junior event only counts if there is no senior result. So hypothetically a nation could drop points from these totals. Second there are a few incorrect totals: Vasiljevs should have scored 496 for the Latvian men, Switzerland Poland Slovakia and Cyprus should have 0 in ice dance, you cannot receive a score if you don't skate the long program, the same is true for Iceland and Sweden in the pairs.
  22. and the IIHF continues to find creative ways to embarrass itself. Someone accidentally called this round 'round 3' and they have kept it and made it possibly official. The group title letters make no sense. According to their main page https://www.iihf.com/en/static/56966/women_s_olympic_winter_game Germany should have qualified for the Olympics already. Whoever is making the pages has no idea what they are doing. crazy that they have this much disdain for their fans.
  23. I believe that yesterday's result in Cerro Catedral confirms Faiz Basha has met the Olympic Criteria. FIS points not finalized yet for some reason, but his result should easily be better than what he needed.
  24. the WCF rankings may come into play for the mixed doubles qualifier. I was trying to gauge countries position coming into the season but I cannot reproduce the ranking totals that they have. For instance Norway has a score of 66.791 but achieved better than 75% of the possible points each year but one, so even logically I can't get my head around what they are doing.
  25. Counted it by myself, was hoping that someone out there is compiling something since the FIS probably won't until next season.
