  1. We are down to 70 unqualified nations remaining. I've updated all nations and sports, adding/removing potential events. Let me know if I missed anything. Since most nations remaining are tripartite eligible (everyone except ) many of the predicted options rely on winning one of those quotas. Here's the breakdown by how many nations have a chance in each sport. Athletics - 63 Swimming - 61 Judo - 40 Boxing - 22 Weightlifting - 22 Taekwondo - 20 Shooting - 13 Canoeing - 11 Badminton - 10 Rowing - 8 Sailing - 8 Table Tennis - 8 Archery - 7 Tennis - 7 Wrestling - 7 Gymnastics - 5 Fencing - 4 Football - 4 Surfing - 4 Cycling - 3 Handball - 3 Basketball - 2 Equestrian - 2 Rugby Sevens - 2 Triathlon - 2 Artistic Swimming - 1 Golf - 1 Volleyball - 1 Water Polo - 1 Breaking - 0 Diving - 0 Field Hockey - 0 Modern Pentathlon - 0 Skateboarding - 0 Sport Climbing - 0 Unsurprisingly, athletics and swimming tops the list. Judo being third was expected. It is the easiest sport for a nation to qualify after athletics/swimming. Shooting being a bit low on the list despite having so many tripartite quotas likely means either many quotas will be reallocated or ISSF may change the rules and allow nations with no ranking points to be given the quota. Boxing, taekwondo and weightlifting are popular sports with some nations having a chance to qualify normally. Unfortunately a large set of nations will be left with nothing. On the low end six sports do not have any nations with a chance to qualify, most of which have tripartite quotas that will likely go unrewarded.

  5. That atrocious mixed relay might be the single worse attempt at a mixed gendered team event I have ever seen at a senior top level event, and the bar is extremely low. (The only thing worse I've ever seen is a mixed gendered / mixed weapon fencing team event, but it wasn't at this high a level of competition)

  6. Right okay, since 2023 is almost over I decided to do another simulation/prediction on how the rest of the qualification period will go. Now, me being me, I’ll probably be extremely realistic so consider some of them to be unlikely. PT 1/2 (Since I don’t have enough time to do it in one go) Archery (2) - As per usual, one male and one female athlete. Eric Peters has already secured a men’s quota through Worlds, don’t see us qualifying a team either through the PAOQT (Pan-Am Olympic Qualification Tournament) or the FOQT (Final Olympic Qualification Tournament). We should qualify a female athlete through the PAOQT, probably Kristen Esebua if she can get her citizenship in time otherwise Stephanie Barrett/Virginie Chenier. Artistic Swimming (0-10) - Anything from a team, to a duet, to nothing at all. Then again, I don’t follow artistic swimming very much, maybe I’m being too optimistic/pessimistic? Athletics (58) - Men’s 100m- Andre DeGrasse, Brendon Rodney, Aaron Brown Men’s 200m- Andre DeGrasse, Brendon Rodney, Aaron Brown Men's 4x100m - Brendon Rodney, Andre DeGrasse, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Bojale Ajomale (heats only) Men’s 800m- Marco Arop, Brandon McBride Men’s 1500m- Kieran Lumb, Charles Philibert-Thiboutot, Cam Proceviat Men’s 5000m- Justyn Knight, Mo Ahmed, Benjamin Flanagan Men’s 10000m- Mo Ahmed Men’s 110m Hurdles- Craig Thorne Men’s 3000m Steeplechase- Jean Simon Desgagnes, Matthew Hughes Men’s High Jump- Django Lovett (had a disappointing performance at Worlds, but just have him sneaking in) Men’s Hammer Throw- Adam Keenan, Rowan Hamilton, Ethan Katzberg Men’s Marathon- Cam Levins, Trevor Hofbauer, Ben Priesner Decathlon- Pierce LePage, Damian Warner Men’s 20km Race Walk- Evan Dunfee Women’s 100m- Khamica Bingham, Sade McCreath, Jacqueline Madogo Women’s 400m- Grace Konrad, Madeline Price, Kyra Constantine (replacing Price with Natassha McDonald if she’s still competing, anyone know if she’s injured or not?) Women’s 800m- Jazz Shukla Women’s 1500m- Kate Current, Gabriela De Bues Stafford, Lucia Stafford Women’s 5000m- Gracelyn Larkin, Brianna Scott, Julie-Ann Staehli Women’s 100m Hurdles- Mariam Abdul Rashid, Michelle Harrison Women’s 400m Hurdles- Brooke Overholt, Savannah Sutherland, Sage Watson (if still competing) Women’s 3000m Steeplechase- Celi McCabe, Regan Yee, Grace Fetherstonhaugh Women’s Pole Vault- Alysha Newman, Anicka Newell Women’s Shot Put- Sarah Mitton Women’s Hammer Throw- Jillian Weir (injured or?), Camryn Rogers, Kaila Butler Women’s Javelin Throw- Liz Gleadle Women’s Marathon- Malindi Elmore, Natascha Wodak According to Christabel Nettey’s WA page, she hasn’t competed since August 2022. Assuming it’s injury related as I haven’t seen any news about her potential retirement. I’m leaving her off for now. Badminton (8) - Michelle Li in women’s singles and Brian Yang in men’s singles. Adam Dong/Nyl Yakura in men’s doubles, Rachel Honderich/Kristen Tsai in women’s doubles, and Ty Lindeman/Josephine Wu in mixed doubles. Basketball (24) - Men’s team already qualified through the FIBA World Cup, women’s team should qualify through the OQT. 3x3 Basketball (4) - Women’s team will almost definitely qualify, with the athletes being Michelle Plouffe, Katherine Plouffe, Paige Crozon, and Kacie Bosch. Beach Volleyball (4-6) - Melissa Humana-Parades/Brandie Wilkerson are a lock to qualify. Sarah Pavan/Molly McBain and Sophie Bukovec/Heather Bansley will be battling for that second quota, no chance for either through World Rankings probably, but the NORCECA event shouldn’t provide much of a challenge with only Gutierrez/Flores capable of beating them (and even that seems unlikely). On the men’s side, US will most likely qualify two pairings through World Rankings which means it’ll most likely come down to Sam Scachter/Dan Dearing against Diaz/Alayo for the quota. Boxing (4-5) - Wyatt Sanford (men’s 63.5kg) and Tammara Thibeault (women’s 75kg) have already qualified for Paris through the Pan Am Games. Also think Scarlett Delgado (women’s 54kg) and Charlie Cavanaugh will qualify eventually through one of the two Olympic Qualification Tournaments. Think someone else could win a surprise quota, but don’t know who. Breaking (1-2) - Philip Kim (“Phil Wizard”) has already qualified for Paris through the Pan Am Games. No chance for a second quota on the men’s side, but Tiff Leung (“Tiff) should have a chance through the OQS. Canoeing- Sprint/Slalom (16) At the Canoe Sprint World Championships we qualified boats in women's K-1 500m, women's K-4 500m, women's C-1 200m, women's C-2 500m, and men's K-4 500m. Sprint Women’s K1-500m- Michelle Russell Women's K-2 500m- Tosha Behak Hrebacka/Andreanne Laglois Women’s K-4 500m- Tosha Behak Hrebacka/Andreanne Laglois/Riley Melanson/Natalie Davidson Women’s C1-200m- Katie Vincent Women’s C2-500m- Sophia Jensen/Katie Vincent Men’s K2-500m- Pierre-Luc Poulin/Simon McTavish Men’s K4-500m- Nicolas Mateev/Laurent Lavigne/Pierre-Luc Poulin/Simon McTavish Men’s C1-1000m- Connor Fitzpatrick Men’s C2-500m- Connor Fitzpatrick/Roland Varga Slalom Men’s C1- Alex Baldoni Women’s C1- Lois Betteridge Women’s K1- Florence Maheu Cycling- Track/BMX/MB (22) - Track Women’s Sprint- Kelsey Mitchell, Lauraine Genest Women’s Keirin- Kelsey Mitchell, Lauraine Genest Women’s Team Sprint- Sarah Orban/Kelsey Mitchell/Lauraine Genest Women’s Team Pursuit- Allison Beveridge/Maggie Coles-Lyster/Sarah Van Dam/Ariane Bonhomme Women’s Omnium- Allison Beveridge, Maggie Coles-Lyster Women’s Madison- Sarah Van Dam Men’s Sprint- Nick Wammes, Ryan Dodyk, James Hedgcock Men’s Keirin- Nick Wammes, Ryan Dodyk, James Hedgcock Men’s Team Sprint- Nick Wammes/Ryan Dodyk/James Hedgcock Men’s Team Pursuit- Dylan Bibic, Mathias Guillemette, Derek Gee Men’s Madison- Dylan Bibic/Mathias Guillemette Men’s Omnium- Dylan Bibic BMX Racing Women’s Event- Molly Simpson Mountain Biking Men’s Event- Carter Woods (or maybe Gunnar Holmgren) Women’s Event- Emily Batty Jennifer Jackson Road (Team will be 3 female, 2 male) Women’s Road Race- Alison Jackson, Olivia Baril, Simone Boilard Women’s Time Trial- Alison Jackson, Olivia Baril Men’s Road Race- Hugo Houle, Michael Woods Men’s Time Trial- Hugo Houle Diving (7) - Men’s 10m Platform- Rylan Wiens, Nathan Zsombar-Murray Men’s 10m Synchro Platform- Rylan Wiens/Nathan Zsombar-Murray Women’s 3m Springboard- Pamela Ware, Mia Vallee Women’s 3m Synchro Platform- Pamela Ware/Mia Vallee Women’s 10m Platform- Caeli McKay, Celina Toth Women’s 10m Synchro Platform- Caeli McKay/Kate Miller Still don’t know if Melissa Citrini is retired yet, would replace her for Toth/Miller if so. Equestrian (9) - Full team already qualified through the Pan Am Games. Fencing (12-15) - Women’s team foil (most likely Sabrina Fang/Jessica Guo/Eleanor Harvey), men’s team foil (most likely Maxmillen Van Haaster/Blake Broszus/Patrick Liu), and men’s team sabre (Fares Arfa/Shaul Gordon/Francois Cauchon) should qualify. Men’s team epee (Fynn Fafard/Nicolas Zhang/Dylan French) has a chance, but we’ll be relying on Venezuela to be among the top four. Either way, we’ll probably qualify at least one athlete there (either Dylan French or Nicolas Zhang), along with Ruien Xiao (women’s epee) and maybe Pamela Brind’Amour (women’s sabre) Have Kelliegh Ryan/Eli Schenkel retired? Football (18) - Women’s team already qualified through the CONCACAF Olympic Playoff. Golf (4) - Corey Conners and Nick Taylor in the men’s event, and Brooke Henderson and Maude Aimee Leblanc in the women’s event. Gymnastics (13) - Women's and men’s artistic gymnastics teams already qualified through the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. Sophiane Methot has already secured a women’s trampoline quota through the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships. Artistic Women’s Team - Ellie Black, Shallon Olsen, Emma Spence, Sydney Turner, and either Laurie Denoumee or Brooklyn Moors Men's Team - Felix Dolci, William Emard, Rene Cournoyer, Chris Kaji, Jayson Rampersad Trampoline Sophiane Methot - Women's Event Sarah Milette - Women's Event Jermey Chartier/Remi Aubin/Keegan Soehn - Men's Event Judo (7) - Women’s 57kg- Christa Deguchi Women’s -63kg- Catherine Beauchemin Pinard Women’s -78kg- Coralie Godbout Men’s -73kg- Arthur Margelidon Men’s -81kg- Francois Gauthier Drapeau Men’s -100kg- Kyle Reyes And either Kelly Deguchi (women’s 52kg) or Louis Krieber Gagnon (men’s 90kg) with a continental quota. Sailing (7) - Women’s Laser Radial (OQP secured) - Sarah Douglas Women’s 49er FX (OQP secured) - Georgia Lewin-Lafrance/Antonia Lewin-Lafrance (Ten Hove/Millen miss out) Women’s Kite (OQP secured) - Nataliya Leshkyo Men’s Laser- Fillah Karim Men’s 49er (OQP secured)- Justin Barnes/Will Jones (Moffatt/Woods miss out) Skateboarding (4) - Men’s Street- Micky Papa, Cordano Russell, Ryan Decenzo Women’s Park- Fay Ebert Rowing (21) - Women’s eight and women’s lightweight double sculls already qualified through the Rowing World Championships. But we had a disappointing outing there otherwise, so probably won’t qualify more than a couple of additional boats at the FOQR. I’m thinking men’s single sculls and men’s eight. Rugby Sevens (13) - Women’s team already qualified through Ran Sevens. Don’t see our men qualifying, they’ll most likely need to beat a couple of South Africa, Great Britain, and Spain at the FOQT. Shooting/swimming/waterpolo/weightlifting/wrestling/tennis/sport climbing/surfing/table tennis/taekwondo/triathlon/volleyball in PT2. No quotas in field hockey, rhythmic gymnastics, or handball.

  7. Yes, but most likely will go to one of the NPCs that are already qualified ( ). If one of them is the champion, then the quota will be reallocated for the 5th place at the IBSA World Games ().

  9. So, from my interpretation, a country could grab 4 quotas only if it had four players or more inside TOP 15. But, I talked here and looks you are correct. In this case, I have fixed it. Not only earns a quota as much as at women's side. According to last update and lose one quota respectively.

  17. Generally there just should not be relay events in long track. The team pursuit (and team sprint, as much as people here dislike it :P ) works as a model for a team event in speed skating. A relay does not.

  18. According to another poster at another website: So Canada have to finish top-three in a group with Spain, Japan and Hungary. Meanwhile all Puerto Rico need to do is beat New Zealand. Canada may regret not finding a way to lose that game today... Canada needed a near A Team to beat an under-strength PR Team by a mere 9 points. I can tell you right now Canada might not qualify for the 2024 Olympic Women's Basketball Tournament. And they most certainly will not medal at the 2024 Olympics. Canada's roster does not have ONE WNBA All- Star, much less a world class player. Canada has a good jockey {Victor LaPena} riding an old sway- back horse destined for the GLUE factory.

  20. As for my biggest qualification hopes they would have to be our women’s volleyball team, Scachter/Dearing in men’s beach volleyball, one of our field hockey teams and our men’s epee team. There’s also our women’s 3x3 team, but their ticket to Paris is almost guaranteed.

I mean comparing to Arsalan, Datunashvili, Kajaia, Tibilov and Tsabolov , but who cares, he is good and will one of the contenders for the quota.

  27. Miracles don't happen twice, I wasn't expecting Alipour to win the gold/quota here, he had his run in Hangzhou instead a month ago. but he looked a bit out of shape here. he didn't slip in KO rounds but never got close to his AG records. if he wants to qualify next year he has to be faster than this. most of his opponents are from Asia though. He won everything possible in this sport, World title, World Games title, Asian title, Asian Games title (twice). I know he can't win the Olympics but I hope at least he qualifies. he deserves that for all of his hard work which he did mostly alone without a coach , etc.

  33. So boxing national champs. Quick run through of the Olympic weights. W50kg- Daina Moorehouse retains her title although there was a surprise in the semis with Shannon Sweeney beating Caitlin Fryers on a very close split decision- Moorehouse is almost certain to get the Irish selection for the world qualifying tournaments although while there still a couple of good boxers left globally I would expect Moorehouse to qualify at the first one. W54kg- Jennifer Lehane overturns the result from the previous national champs and justifies her European games selection by beating Niamh Fay. Niamh Fay is talented but I reckon probably needs go up a weightclass in the future and still needs some serious cleaning up of aspects of her technique. Lehane has a good chance of qualifying but is by far the most vulnerable of the womens weights. If there a weight to hope for a good draw it is this one. W57kg- Michaela Walsh is obviously already qualified and won a record 11th elite title here. W60kg- Kellie Harrington is also obviously already qualified and also won a record 11th title. W66kg- Right so Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O Rourke are both absent through injuries. Grainne Walsh retains her title with wins over Kaci Rock and Christina Desmond but I'll be honest I thought Desmond beat her although it was a very close fight. W75kg- Aoife O'Rourke walkover I think, not much to say here. M51kg- Sean Mari is still the clear cut number one domestically. Unfortunately internationally is unlikely to be good enough to make the Olympics. M57kg- The deepest mens weight by a country mile. Jude Gallagher having missed the previous national champs justified is status as the Irish number one by winning here but his semi final against Dylan Eagleson was very close (I kind of thought Eagleson won to be honest). Eagleson had an impressive win against reigning champ Paul Loonam in the prelims and for me at least is still in contention. Adam Hession got a good win against reigning 60kg champion Davey Joyce but despite beating him in the past looked outclassed against Jude Gallagher. Jude Gallagher is obviously the massive favourite at this point but it wouldn't shock me at all if Dylan Eagleson gets the nod for the qualifiers. Either should qualify but it is close and there is a lot of talent left globally. M63.5kg- Surprise win for Aaron O donoghue over international JP Hale in Dean Clancy's absence. M71kg- Dissapointingly no Aidan Walsh so difficult to get a clear cut image from these champs. Dean Walsh did win but somewhat unconvincingly with two close fights against Jon McConnell (talented but not Olympic level good) and 67kg champion Eugene Mckeever. For me this should still be Aidan Walsh but he has only boxed three times all year. Dean Walsh is a decent boxer but he just likely isn't quite good enough to make it to the Olympics. M80kg- What a fight! If you missed them you should defintely watch this one. (TG4 youtube). This fight was worhty of an Olympic medal fight. Kelyn Cassidy gets the win over Gabriel Dossen and likely shores up is status as Irish number one although it was close enough that the door is still ajar for Dossen. Either of them should qualify but if there is a weight where we might switch boxers between the two qualifying tournaments if we fall short at the first one it is probably this one. M92kg- Jack Marley with a couple of comfortable wins to retain his title. M92+kg- We probably have our super heavyweight selection. Relative newcomer to boxing Martin Mcdonagh backs up his intermediate title with a win here including a very impressive final win against former Georgian number one Ilia Mtsariashvili. Probably unlikely to qualify but he is talented enough to get a little bit excited about.

  34. Meanwhile in Brazil the South American Championships are going on in 30 degrees (in the early morning, after 9am it goes way above that, up to 37-39 later in the day). Yesterday were the freestyle sprints, with Victor Santos taking the men's title, ahead of Rhaick Bomfim, who competed in the early 2020 Youth Olympics and then just stopped altogether, but managed to get out of the situation and pick up the training again. Sebastian Endrestad made the podium somewhat international with a bronze medal for Chile. Claudio Gustavo Oliveira was the fastest in qualifying, but in finals had to compete with the juniors. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=43871 In the women's qualifying, Duda Ribeira was the fastest, but to everyone's surprise - her own, her coach, her competitors - she was then basically forced to start in the junior's final, where she apologized to the other juniors who were definitely not counting on that. It was also a shame for the senior race, where a nice fight between Duda and our very own Totallympian @brunamoura was expected, but yeah, that didn't happen. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=43872

  37. And one last spam from me this CET morning. I would really like to come back to this project. This kind of schedule layout is extremely useful for me during olympic time. But 16 days is too much for me. Maybe if we could find 8 users here (2 days for one user) we could make a great updated version of it. We can update it once a month or sth. We can even make versions for particular NOCs. E.g. POL version with Polish athletes starts highlighted. ??? I can do days 1-2.

  39. very, very unlikely... I think will easily end up in the top 4 and might well catch before the end of the OQP I think have no chance here missing the top 16 is basically impossible, many of those below the current line of the 16th place are not even always attending to the world cup tournaments more often than not there are more chances that would eventually make a disaster or two and get caught by than losing all these positions in the OQR...and I said it all

  40. What was supposed to be a great afternoon for Albanian football fans, with leader FK Egnatia playing champion and current number two FK Partizani, ended up a tragedy: Egnatia player Raphael Dwamena from Ghana collapsed, players of both teams and medical help were there within seconds, but nothing could be done and he died on the way to the hospital, 28 years old. Former RB Salzburg and Levante player and 7-time international.
