heywoodu 13,557 Posted February 29, 2020 #21 Share Posted February 29, 2020 That is terrible So two didn't show up, one only had to pass the weigh-in but isn't going to the Olympics because she didn't pass that? That's truly sad If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! That's truly sad Even if it sounds harsh, but that's not sad, that's just self-inflicted stupidity. If you get offered a free quota (1 of 16 in that weight category), then the least you can expect is that you check your body weight before competition. Even in Oceania it should be a well known fact that you have to bring a weight below 49 kilogram on the scale if you want to compete in the -49kg category. Obviously it's one's own responsibility, but that doesn't make it much less sad knowing you've literally got a free ticket waiting for you. Any idea who it was? I was reading the official document, can't see anything there about a situation like this. but I assume normally the quota should go to the next best athlete in the World Ranking which was Yvette Yong from Canada. So I emailed Taekwondo Canada asking if Yong was given a quota. They are not even aware this is the procedure if there is an extra slot lol. They are now getting in touch with WT about it. The amount of athletes and federations who aren’t even familiar with their sports qualification procedures is astonishing. bmo and Vojthas 2 “Sport has the power to change the world.
