Just out of curiosity ..... china only 3 ...... what about countries like N Korea , taiwan, indonesia ?

They are all clean as a virgin's honeypot, ofc. Especially N.Korea, I'd bet on them with my eyes closed

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

Quick question.... Reading through.... Qualification criteria , top 8 as per ranking very clear, then one per continent not rep in the rank ( presuming top ranked continental lifter ) , one either tripartite or host..... So if let us say we have 8 selects then 2 continental lifters from say Africa , is Aus Or oceania a continent ..... What happens to the remaining 2 ?

you are a bit wrong, it says top 8 +  the next best weightlifter from each continent. even if top 8 are all from Asia. still one more Asian WLers will qualify

so top 8 + the best from Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe and America.

8 + 5 + 1 (host/tripartite) = 14 for each weight

Right thanks..... I think the IWF said then the best weightlifter from each continent from an unrepresented NOC I presume in that weight category . . . . .  aus and oceania come under which continent?

Thanks. This information is useful although they have missed out the women's 71kg category unfortunately.

China have "only" 4 cases.

I think there may be confusion between Chi (Chile) with 4 cases and Chn (China) with 7 cases.

Just to clarify even if Thailand lifters are allowed to compete, they have already missed the qualification second period and are hence ineligible to qualify for Olympics.

    • Yep, if they can take advantage of those cracks maybe, but it's too big of a maybe in my opinion. Our pitching has relied on Caissie, Toro, and Lopez the entire tournament, and I don't see that being enough to match the US's firepower.   Canadians are used to disappointment, there's almost always things that go wrong, and there actually being a chance to qualify for the...
    • That was realistic though, this isn't.   The women were heavy favourites, we did better than expected. The men were favourites with their roster of course, but they dominated that final just unfortunate to be going up against prime Hellebuyck who was a brick wall and of course there were a few questionable calls that were crucial in the end.
    • It's unlikely, but possible. USA pitching is not that great imo. Canada will probably have to score 6+ runs to have a chance, but it's definitely possible.
