ok yes we have many islands all over the world: La Reunion, Guadeloupe, Tahiti and French Polynesia, Martinique, Guyana, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, Mayotte, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Martin and Saint Bathélémy bring us lots of athletes;

Guyana is not really an island :d

So guys, tomorrow only the decision for Japanase quota and the winners!

Also, those qualified should keep fighting for the best position... it will be used to determine the heats at Olympics.

And the Japanese quota determines if :INA qualifies?

I don't believe so. Japan is no longer eligible to get a quota from the 2019 World Surfing games since they have a quota from the first priority (WSL) and are guaranteed a quota from the second priority (2021 World Surfing games).

Only 3 of 17 NOCs qualified for the Olympics are from Europe. I wonder if this is a historic low share of European participating NOCs in any sport?

Not surprising. There are no real oceans in most of Europe.

If Hiroto Ohhara qualifies, Shun Murakami will lose his quota from 2019 like Shino Matsuda did today.

If Shun Murakami qualifies, he will discard the quota from 2019, and it will be reallocated to Rio Waida.

    • Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.
