Tennis Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

They really need to start giving ranking points in tennis again. Ideally, it should be a 1000 level tournament, but even a 500 level would probably stop the majority of withdrawals.

Ideally they'd get rid of Olympic tennis all the way and use the quotas to make existing sports better and more competitive :p

Well, already 3 Spanish players have withdrawn? Something's fishy here .....

You think it's food poisoning? A dodgy paella, perhaps? ?

For what it is worth I don't think British no.1 Dan Evans will play either. He turned down an invite in 2016.

And just waiting for the fourth one, cause :ESP Feliciano Lopez has the 4th place rigth now and he already withdrawn Rio2016 when he was a medal contender in doubles, so.....

If he withdraws, which is likely but not sure, I am quite sure that he wouldn't be the last :ESP player refusing the quota.

Man this was as sure a thing as the milk is white. If it was available to bet who sill skip the Olympics, I would certainly put at least a hundred on Thiem

I don't understand some of these players. They have no national pride?

At least Thiem is big and won a Grand Slam. For some of the low ranked players who skip, what is their reason? Wouldn't being in the Olympics be a career highlight for them? I just don't understand it!

Think this is just because of covid and because it's in Japan. Attendance to Paris will be great most likely regardless of points, only clay haters will skip.
