Randal Willars delivering on the big stage, of course chinese were not present here but this is an excellent result for the 19 year old with the Silver Medal and improving overall with his consistency, he got better piked position during his execution of the dives in C, and got +90 in three rounds, his only mistake was with a 70 points score.

If nothing strange happens he has to be at the Olympics, would love to see a duo of teenagers with him and Kevin Berlin (2019 Panamerican champion) though Berlin's condition and situation is unknown, I have to say that Kevin has more pure raw talent than Randal BUT lacks (in hiw own words) discipline.

Overall a good final with the new up and coming youngsters saying we are here, the canadian duo if consistent will be a big medal threat maybe not at Tokyo Games but watch out for them starting next year and coming Paris 2024

Afthinos :GRE was robbed in that second round dive :redcard:

Too bad that I can't watch it anywhere on TV, also FINA's stream doesn't work for me. Do you maybe know what Rzeszutek did in first dive that he was last? After first round of dives I'm not optimistic about both Rzeszutek and Lesiak chances to be in top18... So, I can go sleep, right? :d

Rzeszutek have a bad finish, because of tempo of dive was quite slow. I think he lost his chance qualify to 18. But after second dive he has still chance for 25-30 place. Lesiak too. But they can forget about the quota for me via semifinal. I hope for this kind of results here, top 30 it won't be shame and they can do it.

I arrived a little late from work to catch it from the start, but I'm guessing he entered in an angle or did a lot of splash.

    • Our problem is that without Vittozzi or in poor form our chances for an Olympic medal are equal to 0. Wierer actually is more of athlete for relay, which we have little chance without Vittozzi, anyway. At most Wierer can aim for the long run and that too probably only with a 20/20 chance can she count on a medal. France is in a much better situation, because they have 3-4 athletes who can stand on the podium individually.
    • Not that serious imo. She did race last week, with a merely decent outing but still able to make it past the finish line. Probably a cautionnary decision, get some more time to come back into shape and maybe refocus her goals this year as I don't really rate her chances of crystal globe with 3 races missed. We're in a pre-Olympics season, with home Olympics in sight for her and after a near perfect season last year. No need to take risks and endanger her future in the sport.
    • Lisa Vittozzi will miss the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti due to back problems. In my opinion, it must be something serious, because by missing 3 individual events, she basically loses the chance to win the general classification of the World Cup again this season. Otherwise, she would start and minimize the losses. I`m afraid that this could be a lost season for Vittozzi and without her we basically have no chance for any medal at the World Championships (except maybe Wierer in the individual race).   https://fisi.org/vittozzi-salta-lapertura-di-cdm-a-kontiolahti-rientrera-nella-successiva-tappa-a-hochfilzen/
    • If you hire someone like Wilfried Schneider, your ambitions must be very high. We didn't hire him to take 14th or 15th place in the World Cup or not win a at least one single medal at the Olympic Games in Cortina. The first average Italian coach who would be several times cheaper than a German could guarantee such results. In my opinion we simply miss the final step and a decisive qualitative leap forward, also in terms of technology. The same has been happening in luge for many years, that we are technologically behind Germany, Austria and recently also Latvia.   btw., Margaglio was the 3rd competitor in the general classification of the last World Cup.
