Thats what I thought. Nevertheless, 1 qualifier and 1 reserve is much more than expected.

Something to keep in mind, Agarwalla is 21yo and a pupil of the reitmeister - Hubertus Schmidt. For me he is a lock for Paris.

No Jeroen Dubbeldam, his horse has been sold this week, Irish Daniel Coyle is riding it from now on.

Not as much of a blow for the Netherlands as the Totilas drama I guess, but still :(

:IRL have officially withdrawn their dressage team. Unable to put a team together due to retirements, injury and medical reason. They will accept a reallocated individual quota if offered.

Apparently the decision to withdraw came from the selection board.

They were able to field a team, so this decision left Dane Rawlins pretty shocked.

Here we go. Rawlins and Connor have appealed the decision to withdraw a team. There is some controversy regarding the team coach Johanm Hinneman as well. What a mess.  @OlympicIRL @Oldira

If he didn't communicate his intention to withdraw the team to the athletes affected, then that's a disgrace and shame on him. Not surprising though, sadly.... these sorts of controversies are just so common that it's not shocking any more. It's just a lack of human decency if he didn't bother to let Rawlins and Connor, and Holstein for that matter, know what was coming... and they should have been allowed to make a case as well. Doubt much will come of their appeals, sadly.

Well Horse Sport Ireland need to explain themselves first and then Team Ireland and the sports Council need to get involved. It’s spitting in the eyes of the riders that qualified if we don’t finish last.

James Connor and Dane Rawlins have confirmed they will be taking this to CAS if the appeal is not accepted (it should be resolved tomorrow).

    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
