I understand it so:

- No Russian/Belarus Athletes in Otepää anyway

- Start for them under neutral flag in Kontiolahti and Oslo (so far), if the IBU invites them

Over in the skating thread they’re saying that the Norwegians are not letting Russians enter the country, so I imagine it’s the Russian Cup for the rest of the season.

This is all going to end up at CAS.

Watch Russia go to CAS to oppose this.

What should they do, if Estonia don‘t let them in? What should the CAS do?

It’s not a sporting matter but a political decision. They’re probably not letting any Russian passports in.

CAS have gotten involved in these decisions before. Depends on how the contracts for the tournaments have been drawn up. The Olympics has clauses preventing countries banning entry on nationality grounds. There is also the other issue that Russia could argue at CAS that  ranking points are being denied on nationality grounds. It could get very messy if they push it and we all know Russia loves going to CAS.

Looks like there will be no Russians in Kontiolahti or Oslo:

It’s a bit confusing but it sounds like CAS action is set to happen.

Hey, I'm here for the post-Olympic sauce.

It is quite common that there are a lot of retirements after Olympic years, so I was wondering perhaps anybody has heard anything from their teams?

Wikipedia says Weger, Puskarčikova and Dunklee as of now.

I think Lithuania could have some possible retirements as well after this tough year.

Wierer, most likely...

she said she is going to take her decision during the Summer break, but I think in her heart she's already made her choice...and I fear it's not the one all of her fans would like to know...

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
