Additional spots open up due to 1) Japan not needing host quota and 2) athletes qualifying in multiple events. For example, British pair of Ellis/Smith are qualifying in XD. But both Ellis and Smith are also qualifying in MD and WD. Hence, one additional spot is available in both MS and WS.

Generally Sweden has the criteria that an athlete should be in contention for top 8. Talents can get an easier selection for their first Games (could be his chance) but at the age of 26 he can hardly be called a big talent.

Interesting. Is this new? They didn't decline in 2016 and had an older athlete

Not really new, no. Had forgotten that Hurskainen actually did participate twice (I believe that 2nd place at the Ech (including beating some top class Danes) helped quite a bit). It doesn't always make sense, but still wouldn't be too surprised.

Btw. I have read lately that Jordan Hart started playing for Poland instead her home country  

Our badminton federation didn't mentioned anything about her, I think that they even aren't aware of this fact  I wonder, since she changed nationality some weeks ago if she will be allowed to compete in Olympic under new flag, or have try to qualify to Paris 2024.

* means that an athlete won't compete in Tokyo. Jordan has no citizenship yet, she just changed Federation allegiance (PZBad accepted this) as surprisingly Poland has better conditions for badminton training than Wales (according to her).

 

That means there will be three reallocations and as my friend who knows much about badminton calculated, it means that Wiktoria Dąbczyńska will get the quota probably. Nothing can be said for sure until official statements from the International federation tho.
