Athletics Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Wow, so Tsiamis didn't make it

He's 34th now, thanks to the last minute tricks by Armenia and Uzbekistan. Something really needs to be done about this BS.

However, I still have hope that he might be able to get in because he only needs two withdrawals and there are some people ahead of him who haven't competed at all this outdoor season. He was so unlucky to miss the Greek National Championships and Balkan Championships this year due to injury. All he needed was a decent showing at one of those and he'd get a ton of placing points and make it to the Olympics. I'm so heartbroken for him. He's 39 years old and his only previous Olympic appearance was in Beijing. I don't think he'll get another chance...

Also Vasiliou and Tzengko each only 4 out. I still don't understand why Tzengko didn't try to go to a last minute meet yesterday. Her fifth score in the rankings is so low, she really didn't even need to throw crazy far to get enough points but it is what it is at this point. I feel like Vasiliou might get in, especially if it's true that Ryzhykova will focus on 400H, then she'll only be three out.

Hope Marc Reuther still makes it in the 800 metres. He ran 1:45,22 minutes three times in the qualification period with the standard being 1:45,20.

Salwa Eid Nasser suspended two years will miss the Games

With no Nasser and Miller Uibo at the 400m in Tokio then Allyson Felix is looking very good for medal chances

BREAKING NEWS: 400m world champion Salwa Eid Naser banned for two years, will miss Tokyo Olympics (sportsmax.tv)

Miller Uibo is out too?!

So then Vasiliou will move up from 52 to 49 once Eid Nasser, Miller Uibo, and Ryzhykova are removed. So she'll need someone else to withdraw. If only those universality places didn't impact the quota...

    • It's really funny - the VO has had a constitutional majority for 16 years and someone always blocked him from fulfilling its brilliant plan Without these hostile actions, Hungary would probably have been at the level of Switzerland in terms of GDP a long time ago Btw., in sports, Hungary probably also had better results in the 90s and early 2000s than during the VO era? I mean in the summer, because in the winter, apart from the episode with the Liu brothers - now China in short track, it's probably always been pretty poor level.

    • For me is aimed at domestic consumption. BTW, Brussels and Ukraine is happening at the same time as far as constructed "enemies" are concerned. Does anyone still fall for this? Maybe someone over 80 years for sure.  A couple of years ago (but after the war broke out) an old man (in his own admission he was 82) in a local bar tried to convince me that without Don Vittorio in the government, I would be already fighting in Eastern Ukraine  Needless to say, he was unsuccessful.
