Hungary have big chances in short track, New Zealand in freestyle skiing (I think) and Ukraine in biathlon, exactly in womens relay. Maybe yet Latvia will take a medal in bobsleigh, but it will be very difficult. I think that's all

Denmark in mass start speed skating (especially women's).

I think we can officially congratulate Norway for winning the medal table. There is no way in hell that Germany can still beat them and i don't really see any other country doing it, maybe Canada if they win 4 or 5 golds in ice hockey and curling?

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

In terms of total medals, yeah Norway has it. All that's left is to see if it breaks the all-time record (which is likely). In terms of most gold there's a chance for Norway to fail, but they pretty much have to be limited to a couple of golds for the rest of the games which is also unlikely.

    • I always found it hilarious on how people are counting on predictions    The Olympic Games are so specific that 7 out of 10 times an upset occur. Sport is not an exact science, and especially under the five rings. I saw so many upsets happening to obvious and prediction sites/bookmakers "certain" winners but yet people still tend to search them lol    All this require that all planets will align and everything will works exactly as it is wished,.. but yeah, sorry this just can not statistically happen    Oh man how I heard Shifffrin going to destroy everything in Beijing, 150% safe 2 golds I even read somewhere
    • OA Sport is probably looking to 2022 and Beijing, where we had many medals: 17, but only 2 gold. Safeguarding expectations? Hopefully. With 28 medals overall, even 7 gold isn't a great result – a minimum of decency, with an average of 1 gold out of 4 medals. In my opinion, to get a place in the top 10 of the medal table, you need to win at least 5 gold medals and 6 to be sure of it.
    • You have to distinguish the gold-silver-bronze predictions (more so if based on personal feelings likes OAsport does) from those who come up with an expected medal tally based on chances in each event. The latter Is more serious when evaluating the potential medals of countries.
    • The first prediction is OK for us, but the second is unfortunately disastrous... With 28 medals, only 4 gold at home? And as the same number of gold medals as the UK and Slovenia, who have a combined 6-7 medals overall? It's a disaster. Anything less than 6 gold medals and a place in the top 10 of the medal standings will be a disaster for us... Personally, I'd rather even win 22-23 medals with 6-7 of which are gold, than 28 medals with 4 gold... Yes, every medal counts, but in sport, it's all about winning; the rest are just consolation prizes.

    • Both morocco + senegal got sanctions :     Senegal coach Pape Thiaw has been banned for five of the six 2027 AFCON qualifying matches and handed an individual fine of $100,000 for "bringing the game into disrepute." Senegal players Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr will miss the first two qualifiers for the next AFCON later this year for "unsporting behavior towards the referee       Morocco also hit with big fine Morocco's federation were fined a total of $315,000 for unsporting and improper conduct by their players, coaches and supporters. A whopping $200,000 of that total was for the behavior of the stadium ball boys, who attempted to seize a towel being used by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on a wet night in Rabat — in an apparent bid to distract him. An additional fine of $100,000 was imposed for the "improper conduct" of players and technical staff who invaded the VAR review area and obstructed the work of the DR Congo referee Jean-Jacques Ndala. There was also a $15,000 fine after Moroccan supporters used lasers to try and distract Senegalese players during the game. Captain Achraf Hakimi was also banned for two games, with one suspended, and Morocco's Ismael Saibari was banned for three games, both for "unsporting behavior".
    • Found a couple of prediction websites.   This link was posted on reddit a couple of days ago by the user thevorminatheria.   The Italian sports website OA Sport also came up with their own predictions. They have a link in the article to the latest magazine issue which details all of the medalists.
