Konig uses "liberal" in a different sense than you do, he would be what in Europe you call a "conservative". Like Merkel, Rajoy, Cameron, etc

well for me liberal and conservatives are two parts of the"rigth" but it isnt the same: the conservatives are who sostein the traditional values, the liberals sostein the free market and the state has the less intromition in your live, for example with low taxes.

In my particular case, im closer with the austrian liberal school of Ludwig Von Misesand and Friedrich Hayek, the comunism and fascism are two strong forms of statism, and the socialist, socialdemocrats etc etc are anothers forms of statism, "ligth form".

you probably will laugh but for us the kirchnerism was a very statism form of goverment (for me comunist but its my opinion) and Macri and his goverment is closer the same,a socialdemocrat goverment but with a big statism too.

when somebody call our goverment like "liberal" or inclusive conservative, i always think ¿where?, ¿for what?

I think the reason of that may be that you are not really liberal, but libertarian. And fortunately that won't ever exist in a culture like ours which has a strong concept of collectivism. Just a few wackos like you or Jose Luis Espert thrown around :d (no offense)

Also Macri isn't anything, he doesn't have any ideology or plan. Calling him liberal or socialdemocrat or anything is thinking too highly of his or his team's intelectual capacity. He's just a product of marketing who has some blurred, scattered, ideas about economy/government and practicises them erratically even though many are contradictory to each other.

i cant be ofend, is like you say: we are a very few persons, even we fail when we want to make the liberal libertarian party, we dont have enough people to exist.....ironicaly, we are like the "Troskos" in being a minority wich never obtein more than a few congresman.

i cant defend Macri but some of his team is interesting for me, in all the other things you say, i  agree.

  • 2 weeks later...

Jo Cox, the politician of the British Labour party has reportedly been shot three times and stabbed on the street by a man  who as witnesses claim shouted "Britain First" (thats a name of a british xenophobic political party, kinda like Germany's Pegida or France's National Front). The man then walked cooly away (but as Polish media report has already been caught)
Let's hope she is strong and will survive... :(

My favourite Volleyball position: LIBERO. You ask why? Look here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyIOarNAONk

I read a lot of news about Brexit but all media was confused

What is the real situation in GB? @Quasit maybe you can help me? :mumble:

Britain will vote this day next week (Thursday, 23rd June) on a referendum on whether to "Leave" or "Remain" in the EU.

It's a very complex situation and the country and indeed the governing Conservative party is split over the issue. Since the date was set for the referendum, polls regularly showed the "Remain" side with a comfortable lead. The "Leave" side has gathered momentum, slowly chipping away at the lead and in the most recent 2 weeks, polls are indicating a sizeable swing in favour of "Brexit"... i.e. in favour of Britain leaving the E.U.

The Conservative party are in chaos, ministers attacking ministers, leading members undermining the Prime Minister and rubbishing claims and so called "scare-mongering" from the Chancellor of the Exchequer (finance minister). Boris Johnson who is leading the "Leave" campaign is also widely considered as a candidate to replace David Cameron as the next Conservative leader and potential Prime Minister, so to see them go head to head and resort to mud-slinging in a very public way is quite astonishing to see play out.

The Labour party too is in chaos, with many of their traditional supporters indicating they intend to vote to "Leave" the EU, which would be a devastating blow for the Labour parliamentary party and indeed the "Remain" side who are fundamentally relying on those Labour supporters to get them across the line.

The British population is deeply divided on the issue also with a comfortable majority of under-35s in favour of "Remain" and on the other hand, a huge majority of the older population are in favour of a "Brexit". Crucuially, the older population are more likely to get out and use their vote than the younger population and that could prove to be a decisive factor.

There are also contrasting opinions from the different countries in the UK, with a comfortable majority in Scotland in favour of "Remain" while recent polls have shown a much closer situation in the other countries (England, Wales and Northern Ireland), and in fact some polls have shown those populations in favour of "Leave".

This also gives rise to another potentially intriguing scenario whereby the Scottish Nationalist Party, which holds power in the Scottish Parliament and a huge presence in Westminster, threatening to call another independence referendum if Scotland votes to "Remain" but is dragged out of the EU by an overall "Leave" vote in the other 3 regions. The nationalists are very confident about winning any potential independence referendum this time also.

So the prospect of the break-up of the United Kingdom is also looming large in the backdrop of this referendum.

At the moment, the polls are indicating that the referendum will be too close to call.... "Brexit" is beginning to forge a lead and gain momentum but some would say that they need to be a bit further ahead in order to secure victory....the consensus is that as the referendum day gets closer, those undecided or even just a little bit swayed by the "Leave" option would revert back to voting for the status quo, usually out of fear of the unknown.... choosing to stick instead of change. But it is striking so far that the so called "Project Fear" adopted by Cameron and the "Remain" side is not cutting through with voters this time and there is a more stubborn attitude among the electorate this time that they won't be won over by fear from either side of the argument. Immigration concerns are proving to be the main talking point and of course that overwhelmingly benefits the "Leave" side of the argument as it's a strong point for them..... the economy which is the strong point for the "Remain" side is not gathering the same tract as immigration, with many voters indicating they will still vote to leave even if it means they will be worse off economically in the short-term.

The "Brexit" side are arguing that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to win back democracy for the UK and that argument is winning over voters.

It's going to be one heck of a week ahead!!

From what i have seen on CNN, immigration is maybe the big reason they want out, as the country is being flooded for years and the big migrant crises these last years tipped the pot for the regular british people. EU should thank Merkel if they leave.

    • I'll give it a shot.   On the mens side the freestyle results were pretty standard with the usual suspects of Ben Proud, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott swimming well. I don't think any of these guys were fully tapered and Proud didn't even shave for his 50m free win (21.67). 17 year old Jacob Mills came second in both the 50 and 100m free, so is on the team for Singapore. Tom Dean has only just got back into training but qualified in the 4x100 after being preselected in the 4x200 free.  James Guy looked impressive with a PB in the 200m free at 1:45.08. He also won the 400m free in a race where he went out way too fast and died at the end (3:46.64). The longer distances weren't notable.   Ollie Morgan was certainly stand out swimmer on the mens side sweeping the backstrokes for a 3rd straight year. He broke the national record in the 100m with a 52.12 with a pretty poor finish. He also impressed in the 200m with a 1:55.55   Without Peaty, the mens breaststroke was pretty poor, with Greg Butler only qualifying for the relay. 17 year olds Max Morgan and Filip Nowacki took home a few medals between them.   The Men's fly was also pretty pedestrian by international standards. Proud won the 50m in 23.21 with a long glide, whilst Ed Mildred took the relay spot in 51.80. 17 y.o Jack Brown was only 0.07 back Duncan Scott won the 200m (1:54.89) but he wont swim it in Singapore.   Scott took the mens 200m IM in 1:56.44, whilst, Max Litchfield won the 400m in 4:11.59     On the women's side the quality wasn't as good but there were a few standout performances.   Freya Colbert got close to the British record in the 200m free in 1:55.76, and Eva Okaro impressed with a 24.48 50m free.    The backstrokes were disappointing with nobody breaking a minute in the 100 (1:00.03), but Katie Shanahan looked good in the 200 at (2:07.91)   Angharad Evans was rapid in the breaststrokes breaking the national record in the 100 (1:05.37), and a huge PB in the 200 (2:21.86)   Fly was poor with nobody breaking 58 in the 100 (58.03), but Macinnes broke the Scottish record in the 200 (2:07.14)   Abbie Wood swept the Medleys with a 2:08.85 200 and a 4:36.66 400     Overall the results were alright with a few strong standout performances. As is the case in a post olympic year, the big guns took it fairly easy whilst some juniors looked really promising.    More results here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Aquatics_GB_Swimming_Championships
