I can't speak for other countries but here no one that was part of the last dictatorship holds any political position of any kind or has any political relevance. In part because of time (the last military government ended 35 years ago, so most people are dead), in part because the military (as a whole) lost all respect from the people after their last government due to their criminal actions (kidnapping, torture, executions) and also their terrible management of the economy. Nowadays, the military are not a political actor anymore and any attempt of a coup would be met with strong rejection from the public, which was not the case 40/50 years ago. I reckon in some other countries it's different (eg. in Chile Pinochet and the military had decent support even years after they left, in Brazil they have some people like Bolsonaro who more or less reivindicates the military dictatorship). In Catholic education we glorified the idea of socialist, and taught about the dangers of becoming a socialist state (hence why I’m democratic socialist). Having fans amongst people of no faith is good for the church. Religion around the world is shrinking (and those religious institutions know it) I don't believe Islam is shrinking much tho even the Western world seems to believe Catholicism is the pure evil while Islam is all about peace. Besides, what is going to replace the power of the religion? Socialism is just a mellow version of communism and those who preach its superiority right now have actually never endured the communist rule so they have no idea what they wish for. Socialism can work in a country like Norway with 4 million people and oil resources but it won't work in a country like USA with 300+ million people. You will go bankrupt within 20 years if socialism becomes your ruling option. Btw, I never accused you of lying, just being a blind fool of the socialism superiority. Meanwhile you spreading lies about me wanting to jail LGBT people have been exposed & confirmed.
heywoodu 13,560 Posted November 26, 2019 #4093 Share Posted November 26, 2019 The world's leading idiot seems to seriously think he signed an act that has now given women the right to vote. What he signed is an act to bring out a coin that commemorates this happening.....100 years ago. "Why wasn't it done a long time ago?" Holy shit man.
