Her ski speed is bad though, always loses places.

Hauser charging, up to silver.

The problem for Wierer is the last lap, where she loose too much time, in the other laps she usually is very fast

The women's individual start list is heavily front loaded.  I am looking forward to it.

Except for Eckhoff, Tandrevold  Dzhima and Mironova.. Mironova missed 6 in sprint but if she gets it right then top 10 at least.. Not like Eckhoff could medal here. That sounds crazy 4 medals in 4 eventsShould miss 2-4.

Mironova getting it right in an individual....I mean, it's possible, but in every race with more than 2 total shots it's a miracle if she keeps it under 2 misses :p

She did destroy the IBU Cup fields in the past years though in those rare races where she shot well.

As we all know the individual is fun, and is the most likely to see an unexpected podium finisher as someone not in the top tier could shoot clean, while the normal leaders all miss.

As an aside, the Individual Crystal Globes for the individual will be earned today and tomorrow.

Women:

Wierer - 103

Dzhima - 85

Chevalier-Bouchet - 80

Herrmann -78

Alimbekava - 68

Persson - 66

Hauser - 63

Bescond - 58

Men:

Laegreid - 114

Loginov - 91

Filon Mallet  -91

Boe - JT - 85

If both Wierer and Laegreid finish near the top of the race, they should win the small crystal globe.

Right, proper Biathlon starts now!

Problems for Vittozzi already.  3/5.

All three French with early misses.

Wierer 10/10....

Hanna Oeberg 10/10, with a 20 sec lead.

Wierer 14/15 now, will be hard to win.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
