Out of curiousity: why do most of these pistol shooters have their non-shooting hand in the pocket of their sweatpants as if they're waiting for their buddy at the corner of the street? :p

I'm assuming it's a balance thing?

Not 100% sure but i think i read that its indeed about balance.

Yeah. I just love his composure and how even when he had the Gold medal virtually in his pocket shot a 10+ score. How are your women's pistol shooters? Will you be leaving one medal for us in the mixed team?

actually right before the last shot he asked his coach "do you want me to take this one with the left hand?" and he kept the pistol in his left hand for few seconds, for a second I really thought he is going to do that :hyper: (he had 6-7 pts lead but still that's insane) fortunately he was just joking.

our female shooter is OK, she made some World Cup finals here and there but she is far from his level. I don't think they have a big chance for medal, Foroughi most probably will celebrate too much and won't be focused :d but we will see. nothing is impossible in shooting. I will be very happy if they end up with the bronze. in that case you can take the gold :d

Apparently the shooting qualification are being streamed here by Japanese broadcaster NHK (https://en.sports.nhk.or.jp/olympic/schedules/sports/shooting/)

How are the graphics in ISSF events usually? Do they at least have the total standings/scores during the finals? I tried to watch the men's final when it wasn't live anymore today, but that's just impossible (can't use live scores when not watching live), they barely show anything of how the competition is going at all..

it's more or less the same. they show the ranking only after the end of each round. I mean even during those elimination shots, we don't know the ranking after the first shot. (unless you check the website simultaneously)

Wow, I had imagined at ISSF events it'd be different. Like a simple 'tower' of scores somewhere on the left of the screen, updated with every shot. That should be so easy to do and improve the ease of following it so enormously :yikes:

I feel like the graphics score in shooting hasn't changed at all in the last 25 years. I remember how they looked in Atlanta and it's literally the same in Tokyo. Plus they give the overall score after each round ends.

Okay, the target background was yellow back then, now it's green :d

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
