North korea to punish Olympics Table tennis duo for smiling alongside South Korean athletes at the podium of Paris 2024 Olympic games

News like this really makes me wonder how much truth is in that. I mean, who reports it, some South Korean agency? :p

It's indeed South Korean media but other media totally distorted what they reported

Panipak “Tennis” Wongpattanakit, who won a gold medal for taekwondo at the 2024 Paris Olympics, travelled to Wat Sothonwararam Worawiharn in Chachoengsao on Thursday to fulfil her vow.

She had promised the temple’s deity, Luang Pho Sothon, 100,000 boiled eggs if she won gold at the Games.

Upon arrival, the temple’s abbot presented the gold medallist with a 9-inch brass statue of Luang Pho Sothon as well as a gold necklace with a gold-encased amulet of the deity.

The boiled eggs offered to the deity were later distributed to 20 schools in the province.

Paris 2024 will turn a (small) profit. But a profit nevertheless.

https://www.francetvinfo.fr/les-jeux-olympiques/paris-2024-les-organisateurs-annoncent-un-resultat-budgetaire-excedentaire-de-26-8-millions-d-euros_6932234.html

Also the overall budget only increased a little bit from the original planing. From 3,807 billions in 2018 to 4,481 in 2024

Well done, that is great news.:thumbup: Hopefully it encourages other European cities to keep bidding.

However it also.proves you need high ticket sales which are less likely in LA & Brisbane.
