This sounds like it could push someone out who until now was quite sure of going?

Well Luca Armbruster was the top finisher in the 100m butterfly at German Championships missing the OQT by 0.01 seconds. However, he still appears on the athletes page as a relay only athlete so everything should be okay.

So it's not like until today he was expecting to compete individually, and now suddenly he won't?

With a consideration time, he would've needed an invitation from World Aquatics to compete individually. Based on the athletes that were invited, it looks like World Aquatics was prioritizing athletes from events with a low number of qualifiers. The 100m butterfly already had a lot of qualifiers so it's unlikely he would've gotten the chance to swim individually.

Just realized, but with the rugby sevens schedule the way it is, there's going to be quite a few athletes who don't even have a theoretical chance for gold anymore even before the opening ceremony starts. Isn't that...odd? Imagine you're selected as flagbearer, but while walking proudly with your flag, you're already entirely out of any theoretical chance to win...

True. I cannot understand the rush to get the Sevens done so early. 96 men will be out of the Olympics before it starts!!

Athletics program at Stade de France must start on Day 7 morning, I assume was the reason Rugby 7 thus must leave the venue at last at Day 5 to prepare all the stuff for Track & Field
