Didn’t the athletes who finished behind him also deserve it? And if not, how can you judge whether they deserved it or not? Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Swimming barely had any records this time, I guess due to the pandemic. Athletics is turning into a farce, meanwhile. Oh well, speed skating had the same in the nineties with the 'clap skate' (no idea how to translate 'klapschaats' in English otherwise ) and nowadays that's just the norm, even though it was incredible at the time Best thing is to enjoy what we see now and in a few years accept that that's what is 'normal'. . While i do agree, that it could potentially turn into a farce sooner or later ( we will see the 200 m today ) , Warholm has been running great and showing he could beat the WR for some years now. Others would be way more eyebrow raising and questionable.

Yes, @heywoodumentioned it. When he was 10 months old, he hit a pan with boiling oil and it fell over his head and shoulders. He was hospitalized for months. Also, the last time that a Brazilian individual won a medal on track at the Olympics was in 1988, so he broke a long lasting curse for us.
