Poland, Italy and Netherlands with once in a century fluke performances. At least most of their medalists will be gone soon. Both Kaul and Schäfer could have sleepwalked to a medal without their injuries, Kaul probably would have even won gold.

Got bad news for you, Anita Wlodarczyk said she will be in Paris already :p Makes U wonder where is Betty Heidler these days? Probably run out of magic pills :d

Yea Kaul scoring almost 900 points more than his seasonal best is very possible and clean ?

1) You must be close to retard level of intelligence if you think that Wlodarczyk can throw multiple meters farther than doped Heidler without doping herself.

2) I think unlike Wlodarczyk Heidler has something else in life than sport (which of course means that she has less incentive to dope)

3) If fat granny Wlodarczyk wins another medal in Paris, it is the last proof anyone needed to see that hammer throw isn't a sport (same is true for Fajdek)

Kaul was on his way to 8750+ points, which would have been enough for gold and obviously wouldn't have been 900 points more than his SB. Also he was already qualified for this event, so he had no reason to put down a serious result all year long (and in addition to that he is 8 years younger than Warner).

I actually believe this incredible athletics tournament by the Dutch is not a fluke at all. It's a concentrated effort by NOC*NSF and the Atletiekunie (national athletics federation) to lift our Athletics to a higher level.

They attracted succesful Suisse coach Meuwly for 'Project 400' to improve our elite performances in 400m running. They followed the example of our swimming team (4x100m freestyle women) by creating a relay group that drives each other to greater heights. The project then struck gold by assigning talented young coach Peters as Meuwly's assistent and with the introduction of talents like Bol, Klaver, Angela and others the entire 400m group has found an incredible flow. Peters was actually Bol's youth coach (age 15-16 I believe) and he wanted to grow with her, so he was studying for the elite coaching papers when this 400m project started.

Then there's the succes in heptathlon, which has traditionally been the focus event for our athletics federation (Schippers, Visser, Broersen, Vetter and now Oosterwegel). The stars aligned with incredible performances and a barrage of PB's in Tokyo. But Vetter has proven before that she has what it takes to medal internationally before and Oosterwegel has improved steadily since youth tournaments and her international debut in Doha 2019. The federation has put a solid structure into place for talented athletes to develop in a highly professional environment in our national sports centre in Papendal. We still consistently send heptathletes and decathletes to European youth tournaments and it's only a matter of time that a small percentage of them manage to reach the elite level.

That Hassan came to the Netherlands after leaving Ethiopia is a coincidence or 'fluke', I'll give you that. But from there her talent was recognised early and she integrated into a highly professional distance running environment. The management bureau of former Dutch marathon runner Jos Hermens is the biggest in the world of distance running, although they don't necessarily focus on developing Dutch distance running. Even if coincidence played a role, Hassan's development as a runner is the result of her incredible talent and drive, good management and conscious decisions.

A fluke to me would be if Bol medalled only because Muhammad hit a hurdle or if Vetter only medalled because of KJT's unfortunate exit, neither of those are the case. This success is the result of the hard work, good decisions and dedication of the athletes and all staff involved.

1) Hassan isn't part of the dutch system. Also her form is horrible, which makes her performances even more absurd.

2) Two medals in heptathlon definitely is a monster fluke.

3) A medal for Bol obviously was expected.

    • In general, our picture for a little over 1 year until the home games looks like this:     - the women's sector is still based on one Lollo, who is 3 years older than 2022, - the women's and men's sprint sector is based on one Bosa and possibly the young Pergher (0% possobility for medal in 2026), - Ghiotto has made a lot of progress and that is a big plus. He could result to give our even 3 medals, including 1/2 gold. Our team's performance also depends to a large extent on Ghiotto's form, - the rest of the men's team is basically unchanged. There is Giovannoni in the mass start, there is Malfatti in the longer distances, but they are not competitors on the podium of a major event.   I will repeat myself: if Ghiotto continues to make such progress, we will probably win 3 medals, 2 of which gold and it will be a success. If something doesn`t work out, an injury, illness, etc. (we know from Vitozzi that this can happen to anyone), then it could be very bad. By the way, this also applies to other sports: the above-mentioned Vitozzi in biathlon, Goggia in downhill, Brignone in giant slalom, etc.

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.
    • Yup, actually they have just some juniors pairs in the dance event
    • In bed with the flu and few hours of sleep, but at least the insomnia will let me watch the first World Cup stage
    • The news then is that she has not yet been arrested? I suppose Camila when she returns to Italy will have a very unwelcome visit from the Guardia di Finanza.
