Klaebo looks a bit like Ivan Drago. :p

Hakola useless in the final...

Yeah I wondered what happened with Hakola all of a sudden. Totally gassed or something? I mean, he's good but it's not like you'd normally put him in the list of 1-2 favourites, so one can imagine that he gave it his all to make it to the final.. @Finnator123 Any chance to help us out?

"Starts to wonder" ... really? Have you missed the entire season? This kid came out of nowhere to completely dominate overall world cup, it's beyond ridiculous, even for norwegian standards. I think they panicked when Sundby and Johaug got banned, so they experimented with a new guy, which gave us the joy of Klaebo.

Out of nowhere?

Won 3 golds in the juniors back in 2016 and had a bunch of podium places in the 2016/17 World Cup including wins in a sprint and a mass start (leading to winning the overall in the WC final).
Don't get me wrong, i've been having doubts as well, but he did not come out of nowhere!

some people in the Italian staff, a few years ago already said: "take notice of this name: Johannes Klaebo" (when he was still 17/18 y.o.)...

CC insiders have been knowing for a while that he was coming...and coming big way...

sure, the margin with he's winning many races may leave more than a doubt...but surely he's not coming out of nowhere (p.s. I have no doubts....there is no top athlete in any sport that lives with "bread and water"...to me, they are all at the same level...that's why I still enjoy those sports...I don't think there's a great disparity between the bigger Nations, any of them)...

That's just it. It's not like he does everything like the others and still dominates. His technique is something else, completely different than what the other athletes do.

Name one other male athlete who had such a fast transition to the senior level. I dont even remember a female athlete doing so ...

Golds at junior level don't mean much in cross-country. I can't even count the number of medals Victoria Carl won at junior level, but she is still shit at senior level. Look at Magnus Kim as well, he is lightyears away from doing anything at the senior level, despite being super impressive at junior level, but Klaebo just transitioned from junior to senior level without any delay, it's completely unnormal.

1) There are many athletes that has been said about and of course when someone becomes olympic champion, everyone claims that he knew it before he was even born ...

2) Your last argument doesn't make sense to me. So you don't think that a nation like Norway (sudden resurgence in speed skating, sudden improvements in distance running (Moen, Ingebrigtsen, Grovdal, Warholm)) or the Netherlands has a special program to be so dominant in events that are 99% about endurance/strength? For me this makes no sense, if one nation has a much better program than the others, it's as unfair as only one nation doping, of course if you leave the moral aspect (if everyone dopes, no one can complain about having an unfair disadvantage, so we should not feel sorry for those who just don't dope good enough) aside.

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
