FIBA wants to have national teams play 8 matches per year. Euroleague and NBA say that it's abusive. Oh please.

One NBA season: at least 82 matches in roughly 6,5 months.

NBA: "8 matches per year is abusive"

  • 2 months later...

We only had to lose by 6pts or less to Japan at home to make sure about the qualification. that was a terrible game but still we were down exactly by 6 in last 24 seconds. if our players were offering them shaking hands, Japan wouldn't try the last attack. but instead they tried aggressive defense, made a stupid foul and Japan made both FTs. still we had 10 seconds for a layup to qualify. but they missed that :wall::facepalm:

Iran will fail to qualify ONLY in one scenario

we lose to Australia in the last game - very possible

Philippines beating Kazakhstan - very possible

Japan losing to Qatar - very unlikely

Lebanon winning one of two games against New Zealand or Korea - possible

Jordan winning both games against China and New Zealand - very unlikely

we have to be very very unlucky to not qualify ! but you never know.

Wow interesting results today.

Now we have Russia-Finland, Serbia-Israel "mano a mano".

Russia can lose by 2 and still go through and Serbia can lose by 22 and still go through if Georgia beats Estonia at home.

Jordan is destroying China. nobody expected that. even if China is missing some key players still nobody expected such a blowout. one of the "unlikely results" for eliminating Iran just happened. and from what I heard New Zealand will send a weaker team (even weaker than their tonight roster) to Jordan. some of their players will go back to Australia for the Australian league playoff. huge chance for Jordan to qualify by another win.

if Japan lose to Qatar (which is still highly impossible) we have no other option to beat Australia. thanks to our stupid coach for not knowing the goal difference options :wall:

if no surprise happens and Japan beat Qatar, the only way Philippines can qualify is beating Kazakhstan by something like +70 !!

that was quite a game in Beirut. NZ beat Lebanon by 2pts. now 5 teams in Asia will battle for the last 4 spots. all those 5 games will be at the same time on Sunday.

if Japan, Jordan and Lebanon win in the last day, Philippines now need to beat Kazakhstan by something like +85-90 pts to qualify ! :yikes:

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
