Similar situation for Germany. Canada and Germany are probably the most underestimated teams by the World Ranking, at least in the Top30. But there is still a chance, if Montenegro and Uruguay qualify, that the better ranked team of Canada and Germany (probably Canada) will end up in the 2nd pot, if they use the World Ranking

I mean, if you land in a group with Argentina and Brazil that would be the best thing that could happen to Canada, with the olympics in perspective.

I know it will probably be not possible due to rules or sth though.

btw cote d'Ivoire became the last African country to secure a spot in the WC , they won their last 3 games with a +73 points margin to overcome Cameroon who was almost assured of a spot in the WC , well that result really put a huge question mark on whether there was a manipulation with results in the last window of African qualifications and it's still not fair to end group E matches in December and make group F matches on February , i don't think Cote d'Ivoire is any aspect deserved this spot at WC

Montenegro qualified.

Latvia was very close. One of their players scored a silly double  when they only needed 3 near the end. There was no hurry either as they had plenty possession time left.

maybe Needham missing a FT few seconds earlier temped him to try this way. even though in a do-or-die situation like that poor guy had less than a second to decide to score the easy 2 or go behind the arc and try the 3. but yeah with 8 seconds to go they should try the "other option"

but that was a very interesting game, Latvia was the better team but congrats to Montenegro. always nice to watch this kind of game in packed stadium. that's why I like this home and away format.

so now Puerto Rico vs Uruguay is the last important game in these qualifiers. let's see if Magnano can pull of a miracle or something like that. Uruguay was really poor against depleted Mexico but who knows maybe they saved something for this do or die game.

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
