FIVB still would have two possible excuses: 1) He wasnt really part of the team, because he didnt play. He didnt have any impact on the game. 2) Meldonium became illegal at the end of 2015.

What an idiotic defeat. It's quite incredible that Japan is unable to easily qualify even though they are pretty much controlling FIVB. :d
